  1. We have used AP in the past and will be going back again in Nov. AP is the shuttle service into town for the ship. You can either pre-book or wait until you take the shuttle into town. On the bus trip into town they will have a Rep telling you about tours and allow you to book then. We normally book in advance then pay at a shop at the pier-get wrist band then head into town to await for departure. You will be dropped off at the flea market where AP tours start. Carnivals tours will start from the port. Save the $$ and go with AP and have fun. We have always made it back with time to spare.

  2. We're going to be in KW next January on Carnival. On their excursion page, they call their excursion the City View Trolley--so is this not correct?

However, regardless, after reading this and another thread, if we do a trolley, we will book our excursion ourselves. Carnival's City View Trolley is $30/person versus the $17 or even $19 to book it ourselves.

Book it yourself and save the $$$ as Carnival needs to make their percentage. All indications say the City View is the best option.

  3. Been to Quiriqua twice with Happy Fish Travel and had a wonderful time. Both time we were either the only ones or with another couple. We stoped at the banana plantation just before entering the site. We also toured the town on the way back sampling the differences between the type of bananas that the locals eat compared to the ones shipped to the US. Also on the way back we stopped at a street side stand to sample some of the best pineapples you will ever taste.

We've been to Uxmal, San Gervasio, Tulum, Coba, Lamanai, Xunantunich and Chaccobean ruins. What we have here are Stellas which are telling the history vice larger cities. This site is very different. You can see pictures from our other visited sites off my root Travel directory.

We arrived back in plenty of time to shop around the building before getting back on the ship for the fantastic sail-away. He is a sample of pics:

  4. We had Gerry two weeks ago and had a blast. Having been to Coz three other times we were looking for something different (cultural side). He was waiting for us in front of Carlos n Charlies (arrived early) and we headed off to see the west side of the island where the rich live then headed into town investigating the churches/schools before heading out on the Transverse Road to the East side. We stop at a little to for souvenirs (very good prices) then headed to Mezcalitos for pictures followed by a drive down the old coast road. We could of stopped at Coconuts for pic but we've been there. We stopped at Playa Bonita for a food/drink break (very inexpensive and nice view) then to El Mirador followed by Punta Sur lighthouse. On the way back we stopped at a beach club for pictures and by-passed El Cedral (saw it already). Then we had him drop us off at the main square in town. Total time was 5hrs (was it more time then we need; yes) but we wanted to see more than the usual. Would I do it again; Yes. Gerry is fully aware that he drives slow and is will to pick up the pace if your pressed for time. We have a very injoyable trip and plan on meeting him again next Dec if not sooner. Contact Mike and make your reservations as it will be memorable. 5hrs $120 + tip

  5. El Cedral is a small village with about 10 homes, a small chapel and sm Mayan ruin. If you go you only need to spend about 15mins. El Mirador needs a longer time so you can walk out onto the coral bridge. Make sure you have good shoes becasue if you slip you will bleed. You can save time and $$ by skipping the Tequilla Factory as it is not a working factory. They will explain how it is farmed. I recommend stoping off at San Gervasio ruins which you will need about 1.5hrs.

  6. The Corale Bridge is El Mirador which is just past Coconuts. Do not go to the Tequilla Tour and Tequilla is not made on the island. After the ruins head to the East side and stop off at Mezcallitos "Naked Beach" sign then work your way down the coast. Coconuts, Chen Rio, El Mirador, Punta Sur are good stops before heading to PB. You will be back in plenty of time for shopping.
