Just finishing a short 2-night cruise on Sun Princess, thought we had got the cruise for a great price $159 each twin share. But after the $27.50 OBC for booking, plus an extra $50 OBC for being a loyal customer, plus a complimentary drink, the mini bar and a complimentary steakhouse dinner for all ten of our group it was practically a free cruise for me. That's why I keep coming back to Princess and not P & O that don't have a loyalty program.:):D

Not happy with RCL at the moment booked a cruise on Saturday and then the price reduced on Monday by around $140 so rang to see if they would do a price reduction like Princess to be told no. The only thing we could do was cancel and rebook but would have to wait 6-8 weeks for our refund, sorry no can do when deposits are $400. Now I remember why I prefer Princess.:(

Thanks for that photo, we are cruising on her at the moment. In Akaroa today waiting for our jet boat ride. Cold today.

Auckland - sky tower or Kelly Tarltons cheaper to buy on line and free bus near port or harbour cruise cheaper for early purchase on line next to port
Tauranga we hire a car (Pegasus) the families favourite is Gondala and luge ride or a visit to a thermal park with hot spa and mud bath
Napier Black Rose Limousine tour excellent, winery, strawberry farm, lookout etc
Wellington cable car and Te Papa
Akaroa tours sold at dock - double decker bus tour or jet boat ride
Dunedin hired a car Larnach Castle, worlds steepest street
These are just a few ideas of places we have enjoyed, at the moment we are investigating different options for our 3rd NZ cruise next April.:)

I did a dummy booking on royal Caribbean and found the same thing  I thought it would have been cheaper for the third person.

Always used to be

When did it change so that the 3rd person in a cabin has to pay more than the other two? I have always found it cheaper for 3rd and 4th passengers. Just booked a cruise to NZ on Princess and the fare for 3rd person is over $250 more than other two fares.
But in saying that we got a great price, one of my daughters price was showing $200 cheaper than the rest of us when she logged into Princess website. So we took a screenshot and took it to TA and she could not get that price. So after a long phone call to Princess she was told that her price was a special offer just for her but they finally relented and gave us all the same price ( of course except for the 3rd person in one cabin). But even without the cheaper price the 3rd person is still more normally.

I absolutely would not book a Sea Princess cruise having experienced a cruise on it last June.
Would that stop me booking a different ship with them, No.
I just feel they really let everyone down on how they handled the problems with the Sea Princess, not being truthful and trying to evade answering any questions. I would have been spitting chips if I was on one of the cruises that lost a number of port calls and also the people that missed out on their cruise totally.
Having sailed on Sea Princess in July I would have no hesitation in booking a cruise on her again, our changes were handled professionally and I have no problems booking again.:D

I think a free cruise plus refund is ok.

I just got home from the Treasures of Asia Grand Adventure cruise on the Sea Princess. The reports of the ship limping around are ridiculous in the extreme.
The ship does have a crankshaft issue with a generator which will be getting repaired in Singapore over a 3 day stop over. unsure of dates
Obviously the generator issue did mean a decrease in speed but to the naked eye you wouldn't have noticed.
The trip was wonderful and i will be posting a full review tomorrow.
Agree the cruise was great!!!!:)

I got off Sea Princess yesterday after a 26 night cruise, it was a great cruise. Only spoilt by whinging passengers, I can't believe how people can find every little thing to whinge about in stead of making the best of everything. Staff were all fantastic and activities varied and enjoyable. I do not allow small things to spoil my cruise.:)
-
I am glad the ship made it in early, I was a bit worried it was going to be running late getting in tomorrow.:)
-
It didn't spoil our short break either but I was just surprised as it was something I hadn't experienced before. I am glad others noticed too and it wasn't just our view. :p

Hi there,
I am surprised by your treatment on Pacific Jewel. We were on the 11 night cruise prior to your cruise and even though I had some complaints, the staff were not one of them. We found that they were great (generally). I probably won't cruise P&O again but certainly not because of the staff. I am surprised. Perhaps it was because it was a short cruise? Really no excuse at all as every cruise should receive the same service!
I also wondered if it was because it was a short but I have been on a couple previously and never experienced this:confused:
-
We had our short 2-night cruise on the Jewel on the weekend. Loved the ship and the food was great but found the staff unhelpful, unfriendly and at times downright rude. This included all staff from waiters to cabin stewards to casino staff. As a family we usually get on very well with staff having formed a few lasting friendships over the years and I have never experienced anything like this on any cruises I have been on. :(
But now looking forward to leaving for Perth on Friday prior to our 26 night cruise next Tuesday on Sea Princess.:)

All passengers received the $100. I don't know if it completely covered their excursion cost but the sun was down within about 30 minutes of arriving at the port so they really wouldn't have seen much. According to one lady I spoke to she was lined up with a lot of other passengers to complain. We had planned to book tours but when we learned of the change in itinerary we decided not to.
I feel that if passengers knew about the time changes early then they all had the opportunity to cancel their tours. So they really have no excuse to whinge about the cost after the event. Time changes are always annoying but people have to work around them and make the best of their cruise.

The lack of 'official' word from Princess is a tad lacklustre and why is it that some have received emails and not others. It's not like emails need to be individually typed, addressed and sent, we're computerized now. Maybe there's 'technical' issues at that level too
Back to waiting by the inbox ......
Our email went to travel agent and she sent it straight on

We are getting $300 OBC for the 26 night cruise Fremantle to Femantle, not too bad as one port cancelled, two ports swapped around and a couple of minor time changes on way back so happy with that compensation :)
-
Might hear something on Monday still 3 weeks until cruise I just kept checking as I was sure something would change as it was on previous cruising.:
-
I have just noticed in our booking for 26 night cruise leaving Fremantle on 8th July that the first port Lombok has disappeared, so cruise starts with 6 ship days. I can't see any other changes at present, a little disappointed as one of the tours I was looking forward to. No word re. this from Princess yet!:

Hi all, this is making me nervous now. We are booked on the 26 nights cruise leaving Freo on 8th July. Had hoped the problems would be fixed by then, but if the cruise before is affected and it looks like we will be too. Lots of ports and a lot of sea on our cruise haven't heard anything from Princess about changes yet, so fingers still crossed.
Anyone know what the actual problem is? Is it something they can fix as they go. We were on Sun Princess one year and they were overhauling one of the engines and relying on the others without any problems.
Yes I am getting nervous too, already worried that Bangkok will be off the agenda as well:confused:
-
Can anyone on board shed any light on the problem and when they expect to fix it? We are on in 5 weeks time for 26 night cruise to se asia, hope it is something they can fix. Fingers well and truly crossed.
Mine too!
-
I was automatically Elite on Princess on my first cruise with them due to previous cruises on P & O and Sitmar!
-
I used to like it when you could ask your cabin steward for a pot of tea served with biscuits in your cabin - the old days!!!:D
-
Thanks yes I just managed to find some information on line and it only includes children under 21 in another cabin:)
