Tech clueless here! So I am on Verizon and thought I should be in airplane mode while on the ship. But you cant text in airplane mode. So airplane mode, then turn off all cellular data/ roaming capabilities, then back off AM to send/receive texts???
You can text in airplane mode on WiFi.

I have to respectfully disagree with the OP. Unless Harmony does something different with their menus, the standard RCCL menus, the items that change are more than one or two. I reviewed our Oasis menus from February and it seemed that there were 4 or 5 different entrees and 2 or 3 different starters each evening. True, there are popular standards (shrimp cocktail, French onion soup, Caesar salad, strip steak, spaghetti) that show up most evenings. But there are multiple different choices for starters and entrees each evening. Now maybe I don't normally frequent Michelin 5 star restaurants in New York City, but I enjoy the MDR on RCCL and am satisfied with the variety and choices.
The most stars you can have via the Michelin rating system is 3.

We were told by next cruise that the harmony doesn’t have any standard 5 berth rooms(beds, sofa, Pullman)
We just book two connecting cheaper rooms. For boardwalk balcony the second room bs putting all 4 of us in 1 with the extra onboard credit was less than $500.

If your kid is 3 he can go to adventure ocean for free. We feed our kids in the jammer and then drop off at AO and eat dinner alone

It’s the luggage factor that gets me. My husband owns a tux and I have multiple formal gowns in my closet from attending charity events. I would love to wear them more but we travel with our two kids. Adding the extra room for a formal gown in a suitcase doesn’t appeal to me when I have to already pack so much for the kids.

We had this exact scenario for or cruise a few weeks ago. We bought during the BOGO- it’s just calculated at 25% off.
-
In looking over the old cruise compasses it appears that the sapphire dining room is open from 12-1 for lunch on embarkation day. Is that just a MD room for everyone or is that something for suite guests?
-
I have never seems a kids sale free sale for summer. It was cheaper for us to get two connecting inside rooms than larger balcony or jr suite for our upcoming June cruise. If you sail off season you can find a kids sale free (sept- may excluding holiday weeks and spring break time)

Are these treatments meant for people who have curly hair? My hair isn’t really curly, kind of wavy at the roots, and frizzy and coarse until I blow dry and flat iron. I would love to not have to flat iron as much, but don’t want to damage my hair either.
My hair used to be curly which I liked fine. As I got older it just got frizzy. Keratin treatments make my hair smooth and the texture silky. It air dries smooth. To make it look like a blowout I just have to touch up the ends with a flat iron.
-
I will be getting my hair (long, thick, curly) professionally straightened using a Keratin treatment from a local salon prior to my upcoming cruise. It makes it much easier to dry or touch up with a flat iron as needed. I usually get it done about once a year at the beginning of summer and it lasts a few months. (I also only wash my hair a couple times a week because of the time and effort it takes to dry, but I hate shorter hairstyles on me.)
This. Keratin treatments keep my hair looking great. I get 2-3 per year.

for our upcoming cruise we have guest ticket booklets. We have two adjoining rooms with one adult and one kid in each. Although in my cruise planner it shows my c and a number it does not appear in the booklet- just shows dashes. Same for my kids. Should I be concerned about this? Our family is all gold so we aren’t missing out on any great benefits but don’t want to miss out on the points.

hello fellow CCers!
My husband and I have caught the cruising bug big time. Thus far we have only cruised royal carribean because we have young children and it works for us.
However next year we are celebrating my 40th birthday and our 15th wedding anniversary and are dreaming of a kid free vacation. My husband wants to see things and I want to be pampered so thinking a luxury cruise may be the way to go.
A few questions I couldn’t find an answer for in your forums- 1- is there going to be anyone our age on the ship? We are looking at 10 days at sea or less because of missing the kids.
2. As we look at luxury lines are there others you would recommend we look at?
Thanks!!

We use an app that mimics the fan noise and use a small portable Bluetooth speaker to increase the volume above our phones capabilities.

Has anyone actually done this excursion? I see someone said height was not an issue but they are asking for 4 year olds to be 48” which is not feasibly possible!!
We didn’t do this the last time we were in Labadee. You see the trolls cutouts as you walk the path and I’m not sure the scavenger hunt looked all that great.
For the record my kids were both 48 inches at 4. So it’s totally possible if they are on the top of the height charts (or off he charts in my daughters case)

I always bring a pop up hamper when I travel with my kids - it gives them a place to put their dirties and helped us stay organized.
On the other hand on our last cruise I brought way too many clothes for them. They didn’t eat with us every night and didn’t need 7 dress up outfits. Kids club for the win!
-
I guarantee that the kids will not be using the cabana or bungalow...they will be out and about in the water/sand playing and splashing! So, you really don't need a huge space. You will be with the kids while they're in the water, too...so even you won't be spending a huge amount of time inside whatever structure you pay for!
Ok. We are going in June and we want a guaranteed shaded place. We have rented on Labadee before. I don’t need opinions about whether we should have a structure-I need opinions on which one to keep. A lot of the information about the differences between them seems like before they moved things around.

sorry to beat a dead horse but I have both of these booked for an upcoming cruise and I need to drop one.
I am having a heck of a time figuring out which to keep. We have 2 kids -8 and 4. They want to be in the water. Us adults have the drink package. We want the attendants to keep us hydrated. Any thoughts?

considering a MSC cruise for summer of 19. All these caterfories have got me super confused. Any help would be appreciated.
About us- we have only cruise with RCCL- usually on a jr suite. We have a then 5 year old and then 9 year old. They like kids club and like to swim. We are fortunate the the 1500 difference from a suite to yacht club would not effect our overall budget much but don’t want to waste money if we wouldn’t get much out of yacht club
We eat mostly specialty on RCCL. I am not a big fan of the food in the MDR. Food being good is important.
My kids will use the kids club and want to swim.
Any advice would be appreciated.
In case it matters we did a status match and have the 2nd highest (plat.?) due to having diamond status with Hilton.
-
Just following along as we currently have one of each booked for June and having a hard time deciding which to keep.
-
My ta adds insurance and I have to affirmatively write back we are not interested which adds some money to the final bill.
-
What about a mifold for your 4 year old? We take one for ours for taxis and shuttles. It makes us a lot more mobile and fits in a backpack pocket.
-
Following this thread as we currently have on of each booked as I couldn’t figure out which was better. Or really what the difference is.

On our first cruise we ate almost exclusively at CK (6 of 7 nights). We gave some money to our favorite CK staff at the end but nothing close to a big portion of our automatic tips which I presume went to MDR staff we never used. When we got home I wondered if I should have gone through gone through the hassle of removing the tips and giving half that money to CK staff and the other half to our room attendant. We have 2 kids in our suite so our prepaid tips are pretty substantial.
-
We use them. I don’t care if they take up more space because frankly we hit the 50 lb weight limit long before space.
I really like them for focused packing. For example, we stay over night by port before cruising. I put all our pjs in a cube and our embarkation clothing. That way I don’t dig around in the cases before getting on the cruise. I do the same for our flight home clothes.
How many reservations do you have?

We both have demanding careers and we have two small kids so this schedule is pretty crazy for us. But it’s only your 15th once, right?
