I am sure you may have seen a disturbance a time or two but your statement reflects the lounge experience as constant turmoil and over crowded. Interesting as well you want everyone to believe you are the type to walk away from a situation yet your aggressive behavior on the board over multiple topics indicates otherwise. You have a good day ....

    HI,

I wish you the best, it's clear you are not a happy person and feel the need to attack other people.  But you seem to confuse "aggressive behavior"  with defending MY OWN PERSONAL EXPERIENCE  when a complete stranger calls me a liar and says I did not experience something?  LOL  enjoy your Trolling day.

Shhhh, don't try to change their minds.

The more people avoid the lounges for "reasons", the better off we all will be.

Are there bad people there?  Sure.  If that makes you so uncomfortable, please, feel free to not go.  I'm totally fine with that.

    Correct.

That is what I am saying.  Because of the "bad people"  and OUR personal experience.  we chose not to go there.  And enjoy the ship.

Exaggerate much??!!...I am well past D+ in RCCL cruises and I have never experienced this in a lounge....

LOL  ....  So you must be god now?  I am constantly amazed at the arrogance of some people on cruise critic.  How dare I have a different experience than yourself?  And you feel the need to attack me simply because I have had a different experience than yourself?  OMG  what a joke!   If you have never experienced it, it is not real?  LOL  Exaggerate much????? LOL    Please forgive me your lordship.  Not only are you the foremost authority of MISINFORMATION on coronovirus, you now are the ONLY royal Caribbean customer allowed to have an opinion?  LOL

I love Royal.  I too am well past D+  but because of the behavior of some.  I have chosen (and my friends as well).  To avoid the lounges and enjoy the ship.

And instead of Saying nasty things to these guests, or starting a fight.  We simply chose to leave and not go back.  Seems simple and fair enough?

Maybe I don't pay attention or just lucky, but we never experienced this. Only read on internet.

I have seen multiple temper tantrums in the lounges, and people disrespecting staff.  It's embarrassing to watch this.. so we simply remove our self from the situation.  Of course there are nice people.   However.  Listening to someone complain, or talk down to the staff is enough to make me not want to go.  Besides?  Whats the point?  there is a whole ship to enjoy your beverage?  Why smash yourself into a crowded room ?

AS a D+  my friends and I hate the lounges.  Mostly full of unhappy complaining people. The thought that someone will plan their day, go to the lounge at 4:30pm and save ten seats for their "friends" coming at 5:30  is laughable.  We simply have better things to do.  We think the 3 drinks are great.  We can do what we want, sit where we want  and enjoy our day.  Unless I am in a suite on the oasis class, I simply am not interested in a lounge.

I heard today (Dr. Oz) the data gathered so far states the transmission rate is 45-1 and the flu is 9-1. What that means is each person who gets Corona, infects 45 and the flu infects 9. It may very well not be deadlier over all but it has proven to be quite lethal in people 80 years old +.

Yes for sure..... it has proven deadly to elderly people 100%  true.  But... I am not sure that a television DR is who we should be getting our information from.  IT will be years before there is enough data to know for sure.

What a ludicrous and totally inaccurate statement. Corona has been in Italy for a grand total of only 2-3 weeks yet now 9000 have caught it and over 450 dead already. That is 5% but the real numbers could be higher as 7000+ are still active cases.  The only reason that flu kills more is that it has had time to spread worldwide over hundreds of years.

    HI Brett,

most of your very few posts are about panic.  so clearly you dont want to have a discussion ... and thats fine....  However, because many people have mild to no symptoms, it 's also possible that the number is much lower then the fast moving and very innacurate numbers in the press.  THIS IS A VERY FLUID SITUATION>

However.     I stand by what I said.  if there was this much outcry over the flu.   (which is way way way worse)  ... and to clarify .  I guess you are ok with millions of people dying?????? you must be or wouldnt you want to focus on this a little more????

THis information is online in regards to the flu..

. Globally, the World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that the flu kills 290,000 to 650,000 people per year.

so Conservatively in the last 10 years over 2.9 million people have died from the flu???? Dont you think there should be some public outcry for that????

I am just saying... people are acting so crazy right now without all the facts.  Everyone should just slow down and take a breath.  YES  of course high risk individuals are at risk.  Just as they are with the flu, and other serious illness.

Many people are saying they don't want to cancel their cruise, but are really afraid of being quarantined for 14 days, either on a ship or at some military base.  Considering that it is currently being reported that it might take several days to "safely" get everyone off of the Grand Princess that docked in Oakland, and that the government cannot continue trying to quarantine 3,000, or more, people at a time, how long do you think it will be until they stop trying to do it, or simply cancel all cruises?  What will they do if two ships ( maybe 8,000 total passengers) arrive at Port Everglades at the same time with evidence of virus stricken passengers?  Is it time that they just shut everything down, including flights?  Maybe it is, or wait until the next ship occurs and then use that to say"we can't keep doing this quarantine thing".  Just wondering.

I was just wondering.  If there was this much media hype and all out panic and fear mongering over the flu (which is way worse)   maybe we would have a cure for it now?????

    Hello Royal Cruisers,

Boarding Oasis of the Seas on Saturday for a girl's cruise with a friend who is at Platinum status.  I am Gold.

Her Set Sail Pass says "Expedited Arrival"  What does that mean?  We are sharing a stateroom so can I board

with her even though I don't have "expedited arival"?  She has earned this status by cruising on affiliated cruise lines.

This is her first Royal Caribbean cruise so she doesn't know.

Thanks in advance for the help!

    Kate

    HI Kate,

Not sure how you did your set sail.  However, I have noticed that I get expedited arrival 100% of the time when I do check in on the mobile app and scan my passport.  When I enter the information online, I do not.  I have even checked in online (all the way through the process)  then gone to the mobile app, updated my passport by scanning it... AND POOF!!!!!  I know have expedited arrival.  I think it must have something to do with the passport scan as opposed to the entering of the numbers online.

We've been to "old" CocoCay over twenty times and "new" CocoCay five times now and not once was the Casino open during that time. We're back again in two weeks. Trust me, as Prime, I would love the Casino to be open during that day. 🙂 At least a little earlier than normal time.....

** I attached an online copy of the cruise compass for the enchantment for 2015 showing the casino hours.  on that one the slots and tables opened early as noted .. but the casino bar did not open till later **

I guess everyone has a different experience.  Prior to Last july.  The casino WAS ABSOLUTELY open for me on every sailing at coco cay. the slots and the casino bar opened around 9 am  and the tables around 2 pm.    However,  on my sailings late last year, and this year (three total)   The casino was indeed closed at coco cay until about 5 pm.

I too (signature) with the casino like to gamble during the day.  The casino manager told me it was something to do with a disagreement with the bahamanian govt (not sure what the real story is).  Trust me, the casino has numbers to hit, if they could open it, believe you me, they would.

Hope they get it settled in the near future.

    Wishing everyone happy sailings.

Seems to be many conflicting comments about this. My sister and I just splurged on the UDP for our cruise in 2.5weeks and would love to avoid WJ first day. Can we do playmakers or johnnyrockets if no specialty restaurant is open?

I was on the Navigator a few weeks ago with the UDP.  While playmakers was open, they were NOT serving food.  I went upstairs to deck 11 to see what was actually serving ... To my surprise, both jamies and chops were open for lunch , so I opted for chops.  Not sure if JR was open or not.

  12. 19 minutes ago, jayveee said:

so I can only visit playmakers once a day right? if I get a few snacks for lunch (about $20) and try to go back at night for a bite after a few drinks I will have to pay right? just trying to make sure the UDP is worth it for me.

It is per visit.  You can go to as many specialty restaurants per day as you like.

I was just on the Indy and we went to playmakers during the day for desert, and then izumi for dinner, etc.

On the royal description it even says

Savor the savings with the Unlimited Dining Package! For one low price, you can enjoy multiple entrees and visit multiple specialty restaurants every night of your sailing. And as an added perk, this unlimited package also applies to lunch at specialty restaurants on sea days.

two of us went on the cruise and we found it to be definitely a great deal. ( it brings things closer to the price of what the speciatly resteraunts used to be (in the $20 range).  We liked it so much we have already purchased it for our upcoming cruises.  But... just do the math, see how many times you might go and see if it is worth it for you..

And this just in from the Royal caribbean facebook messenger.    This is why it's so frustrating dealing with them.  every day different information.

Hi, . Regardless of the ships, the Ultimate Dining Package includes Izumi. It's considered an a la carte venue and guests are given a $35 food credit each time they dine for the sushi, as hibachi is not included. -Paula

and now this: after I sent them the link...

Thanks for bringing that to our attention. I'd like to confirm this with our ships to ensure we're all on the same page. I'll report this now and get it corrected.

So I guess they are just going to remove text from the website now??

It's getting to the point that we have to take a screen shot of every RC web page when we purchase something because they keep moving the goal posts.

    Yes,

I do agree.... I have emailed both Dining and messaged on facebook just hoping to get something in writing.   It's just so hard to determine the value of some of these packages when you dont know all of the restrictions.  For the case of my 5 night sailing, the package was actually a great deal  $118.00  pp  including the grats for the dining (which makes the prices almost what chops used to be (in the 20's  per person).  so I figure even if I go a couple three times, I have got my moneys worth.

One of the big changes made when the name went from Ultimate to Unlimited was the inclusion of hibachi.

    HI,

thats what I thought as well (although i cant find it on the RCCL description).  But the email I quoted I received this morning from the concierge on the independence.  Now.. that does not mean I cant show up a izumi in person and they will say something different from what the ship concierge says, ......

  18. 21 minutes ago, bouhunter said:

Have you verified that Izumi on Indy has the Hibachi dining?  It may, but not all the ships that have added Izumi do.

    HI,

Yes, they do have it but here is part of my email from the concierge.

"Kindly be advised that unlimited dining package is not include Habachi, it is apply for sushi only. You will be able to have $35 credit to enjoy A la carte Sushi, Rolls, Noodles so on."
  19. Good Morning,

I read the review about the unlimited dining package experience on the harmony, which was very helpful.  I am booked on the independence, and the email I received from the concierge stated that Izumi hibachi was not included, (only 35.00 credit for sushi/ala carte).  This of course contradicts what I have read in other reviews.  Of course there is no great verbiage from royal as it relates to what is or is not included, and it is no shock that different ships are doing different things.  So my question is... Has anyone recently sailed on the Indy with the unlimited dining package, and what was your experience?   thanks in advance.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I called AA back this morning & got a very nice lady, who said it is a legal connection, although very tight. She took the "third party flag" off the reservation, so I don't have to go thru Hopper any longer (one hurdle down!) She advised its still 2 months away & the schedule could change again, but if i'm not comfortable, to contact customer relations via email & explain the situation & see what they can do, hopefully at least waive the change fees, which are more than the cost of the original tickets! I have checked the AA site & there is 1 flight after this one from PHX to YVR & 2 in the morning that would get us to Vancouver in enough time to go straight to the port. We did book 1 day prior, thank God! I'm going to contact them again & just ask to speak to a supervisor, but still email customer relations. I am a loyalty member, but just signed up after we booked these flights, so don't think we'll have a leg to stand on there. I've got a list of earlier in the day flights that I am more comfortable with ready & hope I can get some satisfaction. Hubby is still saying I'm crazy for worrying & doesn't want to spend anymore money, but I'm to the point, what he doesn't know, won't hurt him! 😉

    Hello,

I understand that you and your husband have a, shall we say, difference of opinion.  As a weekly traveler, I would not put myself in the situation that you have unfortunately ended up in.   If I can make a slightly different suggestion.  It looks like you are leaving from OKC.    Is there a possibility of changing your flight to DFW?  its about a 3 hour drive, but they have several non stops a day to Vancouver which could possibly eliminate many of your challenges?    I am sure there are change fee's etc, that may make this a bad option for you, but... as a weekly business traveler, this is how my brain works.

The other thread on a possible missed embarkation has inspired me to ask for your thoughts as well please.

Hubby and I are flying from Toronto to Barcelona in September on Westjet, landing at noon in Barcelona. All-aboard for the Brilliance is 3 pm. The first port of call (the next day) is Palma de Mallorca.

I recognize that it's somewhat risky but I figure that if we miss the ship in Barcelona, we could catch it in Palma the next day without too much trouble or expense (maybe? I think there are flights from BCN to PMI almost every hour).

    Thoughts?

I flew into Barcelona last week and arrived at about 4pm (way past the time that any cruise passengers might arrive).  point is.... it was not that busy at customs and it still took me almost an hour from the time I stepped off the plane by the time I cleared customs. (and that was with carry on baggage).    The cruise ship port appeared to be about 20 minutes or so from the airport (I drove by it).

When you booked your flight, you must have consciously made a decision to roll the dice.  But if you are rethinking it now, my best advice would be to arrive the day before.

or at the very least a flight that has you arriving at 8 am day of departure (which I still would not do)

To clarify my husband really likes chicken cordon bleu.  But I wanted what was on the CK menu.  SO I was trying to accommodate  both of us.  Sounds like it's an issue.  Will decide where we go once on board.  Thanks Bob for your information.  Very helpful as usual.

One possibility.  I believe in suite class on the oasis class ships, you can order room service from the MDR or coastal kitchen menu.  It may be possibly for that night to have a nice dinner on your balcony and you can each get what you want?    I apologize if I am remembering incorrectly.  perhaps someone can jump in if I am mistaken.

Lol, I did email Nancy & Junior 3 days ago. Have not heard back from them either? But other people in my group who are staying in a Crown Loft suite have already heard from them to begin making their plans...kind of disappointing for me?

Thats very strange.  I sail allure often both in crown lofts and in star class and have not had any communication issues.  I know this is a silly question but are you sure that their emails are not somehow going to your spam or junk folder?  I know I have had issues in the past where I have not received emails.  Even had to create a gmail account just to email royal because their it dept could not figure out how to deal with mine.   I know thats not of much comfort.  But it is highly unusual.  Did you just book in the last week?? or has it been booked for a long time?? wonder if you got someones room that was cancelled and through the wonders of IT the original reservation holder are getting your emails?

Hi all 😃 Was hoping somebody could tell me who the current genies on Allure are? We are sailing in 5 days in Star Class and have been told that we should expect to hear from our Genie in app 1-2 weeks before we sail.  I have read everything I can find on Genies on the boards and most people have suggested we should have heard from somebody at this point?

This is our first time in Star Class so I really have no idea what to expect? Thank you

You should have definitely heard from them by now.  Why don't you try emailing the concierge   AL_Concierge01@rccl.com  and inquire with them....
