  1. I would not be against trying differant lines. But since we dont want to fly and it is an easy drive to Galveston for us it does limit us. When I book a cruise I do check RCl. For what We would pay for an inside state room on RCL. I find I can get a balcony on Carnival. We dont drink that much and dont eat at speciality restaurants. So carnival has all ways been the best value for us.

  2. My brother and sister in law just got off their most recent cruise about 3 weeks ago, they had a balcony and choose morning service only BUT the steward turned down the bed, left the towel animal and fun times on the bed in the evening....I looks like it depends on the steward (dont know if makes a difference but they were on empress deck next to the suites, same hallway, they say the deck with the suites have the best stewards, maybe???).

We always heard that too but one of the best stewards

We had was on the freedom on deck 2 he came twice a day and kept our ice bucket full name he even gave us his card so we could call him if we had any problems

  3. Yep things happen. On our cruise in January our cruise was delayed for a day due to fog. Waited all day Saturday then had to find hotel. Didnt get to board Sunday untill after 7pm. Sure glad we had fttf as we got to skip long lines and board as soon as we had our sign and sail cards. We missed one port but had a wonderful cruise anyway.:D

  4. My dh and I love a balcony found out that the hard way when our last cruise we had ov cabin was nice but we really missed the balcony. So when we booked our next cruise on the Freedom, I researched and found that the aft balcony I think it was 8450 had a larger aft so we booked it. After reading about that balcony the comments that there was no shade and no breeze so it gets hot we re-thought. We spend a lot of time on our balcony morning, afternoon and night. I researched again and upgraded to the aft wrap balcony 8455, I am thinking with the portion on the side if there is not shade in the back there should be shade and breeze, wind on the side. The cost was significantly more my dh hesitated to spend that much but we bit the bullet and booked it. So asking for opinions is the extra cost worth it? Thanks

  5. We have not cruised out of Galveston so I don't know the situation there but have you factored in parking your vehicle while on the cruise??

In some ports there are stay n cruise rates at hotels where you pay for 1 night lodging and they let you leave your car there during the cruise. Otherwise you usually have to pay a per day charge at the cruise terminal if there is a parking lot there.

We only sail out of galveston because we can drive. There are several hotels that offer free parking during the cruise. Be sure to make a reservation as rooms go quick.
