To everyone who has answered my question with genuine help - Thankyou.

I thought this forum was intended to help people especially first timers like me so I'm disappointed to find amongst the helpful posters people who post unkind comments like the one about me not being anyone of importance, believe me I know I'm not I am however a sensitive person and I asked the question in order for me to not feel awkward if I had been in the position of wearing the same dress twice. I know in future not to ask such silly questions and risk having unpleasantness in response. I'm a member of another holiday forum whose advice gave us the best holiday we've ever had and I was hoping for the same from here but some people think they are being witty when I see it as just plain nasty.

as the heading says, is it acceptable to wear the same dress a couple of nights, I have bought a lovely long black beaded dress and want to enjoy wearing it!!! I have three short cocktail dresses as well as dressy slacks and tops so will have enough to have something different each night but our cruise is the only time I'm going to get to wear it,

Hi Bartswife..... Yes, see the previous 22 pages for posts on this topic ;) The email that you - and I - received today is just confirming what has been doing the rounds for some time. I think they are making a point of making sure we have all been notiified.

Sadly their very reasonable policy has been abused and we are now being brought in line with most other lines. Fred Olsen however do not allow any alcohol being brought on board.

I confess to not having read all 22 pages. I did wonder whether I should post or not, you can tell I'm a newbie!!!!

I am surprised no one else has yet posted about the latest news. I have today received an email about "important changes" to my booking on Brittania next October. It states from 1.2.18 on embarkation passengers are allowed to take 1 bottle of alcohol upto a 1litre limit, also passengers are not allowed to consume any alcohol purchased in any port whilst on board. From 1.1.18 they are also going to stop fancy dress and inappropriate clothing with names/slogans on. Not being big drinkers this doesn't bother us I'm just pleased they aren't changing our dates as this was my main concern when first seeing the important changes heading.

We have booked a forward cabin on deck D as I had read about the soot issues. First time we went to Walt Disneyworld for the first time ten years ago I spent hours on forums learning so much which made that one of our most enjoyable, memorable holidays. That is why I joined this forum to hopefully learn how to get the most out of this our first cruise. Sorry, didn't mean to hyjack the original thread

We will be going on our very first cruise in September 2018 and I'm really beginning to regret choosing Britannia. The initial excitement is being eroded by the negative comments of a lot of experienced cruisers including two people I go to the gym with, they screwed their faces up when I told them which ship we were going on. I certainly wouldn't put up with being in a stinky cabin even if you don't spend much time in there. That really isn't the point, you've paid your money and you should receive a wonderful experience and not have to put up with anything so disgusting. I really feel for the OP.

Just had a look at that website. It looks very good and has an excellent range. How was the quality?

Good quality, speedy delivery, well packed on hangers and folded carefully fully in plastic. Came with a very good quality suit bag too. Fits him very well.

My husband recently bought a gorgeous dinner suite with white shirt, bow tie and cummerbund from an online company called Dobell. He customised the package, you could chose which shirt, and accessories to go with it, he opted for burgundy.
