  1. I am taking my mom to Alaska for her 60th birthday August of next year. I was thinking about going ahead and booking a cruise with the Early Saver discount. However, the non refundable deposit sketches me out a bit. I mean, it's a long time away. If something happens to both of us that money is just lost. On the other hand, we already have a cruise to Mexico booked for this November. We are in Red status right now and I am wondering if booking the Alaskan cruise will bump up my points and give us some sort of perks on both trips or if you have to wait until you complete both sailings?

Anywho...advice? I am torn. To book early or not to book early? One thing is this particular sailing takes place on what would have been my mom and dad's 42nd wedding anniversary. Daddy died 4 years ago so this seems kismet. :halo::halo::halo::halo::halo::halo:

  2. I have worked from home for over 15 years and have not desire to get really dressed up. I wore patterned capris and a nice shirt with jewelry and flats. Nobody said anything to me. I don't think you should wear swimsuits and flip flops but I don't think you should be expected to wear evening gowns, either.

  3. Book another cruise!!! Seriously, ya'll...Nobody ever told me that you get near depressed after coming home . I left Fascination Monday and was really down for days afterward. It has been literally the hardest vacation to come home from. We got the email offering a discount on another cruise and my mom and I decided to go to Cozumel and Costa Maya November 2018. We just booked it about an hour ago...I'm *up* again!!! Woo hoo!! Can't wait :)

  4. Please re read my post. I didn't say anything about the port itself at all. My comments were about the city in general, as observed in the bus to Atlantis.

Different strokes for different folks! I'm glad you enjoy Nassau so much. Myself, I didn't get around Freeport that much but would love to visit it again. Nice, friendly locals and calming atmosphere. Maybe i'm just a smaller island kinda gal ;)

  5. This past weekend was my first time out of the country, let alone the Bahamas. I found Nassau to not be my cup of tea. Let me preface this by saying I live about 2 hours away from Panama City Beach and Destin, Florida. So we are used to vacationing there. I thought it might be something similar to this. I didn't realize how poor Nassau was. I thought tourist dollars went a long way to at least paint some of the building and maintain them. I can't say I would ever just fly to Nassau to vacation there, even at one of the luxury hotels. The locals start out nice and tend to turn mean. They harass you right off the boat to take a taxi or horse and buggy ride. Don't go to the straw market. Everything was overpriced and the vendors are pushy.

All of that being said...I absolutely adored Atlantis. We got the $65 pp excursion where you just tour the aquarium, hotel and casino. Our guide was very nice and helpful. You come out through near the Sun and Ice ice cream shop. That was literally the best ice cream I have ever eaten. My son was pleased to find out you only had to be 18 to drink so he ordered his first adult beverage. The staff was very pleasant at Sun and Ice, I would highly recommend you stop by there if you don't do anything else in Atlantis.

All in all I am glad I went. I wouldn't ever go back but it was a nice experience. I felt the Discover Atlantis excursion was worth the price. They don't tell you on the website, but you do have access to the private beach if you take the tour. There's another DA/private beach package that's more expensive and it may include lunch but i'm not sure.

  6. There are some great pictures of some of the updates if you have Instagram that a lot of the workers are posting, you can find them by searching #CarnivalElation...Just in case anyone would like to see.

You don't have to have Insta to see the pictures, just google Instagram #carnivalelation from any web browser

  7. I went and looked at the pictures on Insta and yes we did see Elation while we were in Freeport. I know because there's a tiny little boat beside it in the picture and that one was there Sunday. When we were there, there was also a very large, nicer looking Carnival boat to the left of those two. That may be the Crystal but you can't see the names while they are in DD.

  8. No. You can prepay the $12.95 pp per day gratuity or they will add it to your S&S account. Having said that, you can go to GS and have it removed, but I don't advocate that.

I just called and spoke with someone and she said I could not go to GS and have it removed. I think I will check anyway.

  9. Our very good friends did the Atlantis excursion with their teen grandchildren this summer and had a GREAT time! :D

I have since realized there are different ones and I was looking at the one with the waterpark. I'm interested in the one with just access to the hotel. Which one did your friend do?

  10. HELLOOOOOOOOOOOO,,,,,,,,,,Cruisers..................

I am not going on this Cruise....................

I am here to say the Fascination is a Great Ship....................:)

I have many Cruises on Fascination when she was sailing from JAXville..........

I hope you all have a Great Cruise..................

I am hoping to book the Oct-8th-2017 Cruise

    from Port Canaveral.........................

    Thank you!!

  11. This is my first cruise and I didn't even know what a dry dock was. I just picked the date because I turn 40 Sept 27. I was born with congenital heart disease and my parents were told I would never make it. Well here I am 40 years later. I guess i'm not enough of a snob, but I'm not going to let the fact that i'm cruising on a different boat ruin my vacation. My dad died about 3 years ago but my mom, teenage boys and I are sailing for the first time and we are thrilled.
