  1. Wait a minute – is Aruba anti-gay too? Or do people just disappear there? I’m sailing in May and one of my stops is Aruba (Panama Canal – no Jamaica or Grand Cayman).

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply Aruba is anti-gay.

Aruba has experience bad press and voices to boycott due to Natalee, but Cruise Lines won't stop their visits and the US Govt is not going to ban travel due to public outcry.

My comment was that it will take political unrest (ie Cartagena and Haiti).

  2. Reading this thread proves:

This is a law that no one truly understands or can describe.

From what I understand, the law was passed to protect US built ships and US crewed ships.

Well there haven't been any US built ships or US crewed ships since the 1950's. And I don't count NCL's Hawaii ships as the law was bent to get them in.

So, foreign flagged ships cant schedule Seattle to San Diego or Boston to Ft. Lauderdale. So who is hurt, all the ports losing potential cruise buisness up and down the east and west coast.

And Congress continues to make laws but can't unmake this idiotic law.

  3. Does anyone know what happened to the NCL Starward ?.

I sailed it in August 1994 on my honeymoon. At that time I heard it was leaving the fleet. Small older ship.

    Bryan,

My brother and his wife sailed on her in 1991. We were on the Grand Princess Sept 30th and we saw her in Mykonos. We talked to one of her crew and she is sailing out of Beirut, Lebanon. She is the Orient Queen and here are two photos of her I took that day.
