We just returned from the cruise, and used Best Guides in SPb. I would recommend and use again in a heartbeat. Total of 10 people, think we paid $210 each for two days. I put some more details in this thread... https://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?p=56713918#post56713918

Do not let kids see this show. You shouldn't even let adults see this show. It was uncomfortably bad on every level.

The transfers to Stockholm went pretty smoothly. You lined up on the pier and they handed out the train tickets.
So the shuttle buses just took you from pier to train station? Were the train tickets just to Stockholm City, or were they a 24 hr travel card? Thanks!
-
that's interesting-train would actually suit us better
what proof do you require?
I contacted NCL guest services via email and got this reply
What is the email address for guest services? I have not been able to find it within MyNCL.

I found that between the bahn.com website and the DB Navigator app, it was very easy to determine best routes/times, etc.

Is Celebrity excursions really cheaper than private? We are on NCL and booked private tour in SPb which is LESS THAN HALF what NCL charges! For all of the other Baltic ports, we will just DIY. Otherwise, those excursions just seem like a really expensive chauffeur added in with a lot of waiting around and more crowds.

Mmmm, pie. I am really looking forward to this part of SPB!

DB Navigator app is very helpful in planning. Just go to http://www.bahn.com and buy your tickets now. You can print in advance or download to the app. I did this for our ICE connection from Berlin to Hamburg a couple of days before embarkation. Prices are cheaper in advance also.

Iceangell2335 - we stopped at multiple places on best of Berlin for photo stops or exploring including about an hour for a traditional German meal which was really good. The Checkpoint Charlie stop was a little short to get through the other things around there but at same time it was very touristy so happy to leave when we did. There was some time for shopping as well. I said on the train ride back that that day was worth the whole trip. I learned so much & it was so interesting. If you’ve never been to Berlin before like us, it was absolutely worth the long day & not too much time on bus.
There's so much in Berlin! This is why we planned two days in Berlin before the cruise as well as two after (plus Hamburg, Lubeck, and Schwerin). :halo: Sailing out on July 23rd!!

They are talking about finding a hooker there. [emoji23]
Haha! Actually, I wasn't sure what was going to be behind that door! Talk about an adventure!

Awesome! Thanks so much! Would that be delivered by email or would I have to request it?
I received by email, and also in the messages section on MyNCL.

Take the middle elevator to the 12th deck, exit to the left and walk towards the staterooms. 14 rooms in, you will reach a stateroom with no number assigned. knock 9 times.. thank me later.
How much cash do I need?

They should really just have dinghys towed behind the ship for those that want to smoke. Yuck.

Hey everyone! I just booked my first ever trip on BA in early June from Copenhagen to Scandinavia and Russia! Super excited! Unfortunately there was no availability for a room for the 4 of us...booked one inside and one balcony. Is there any chance these would be close together, or a possibility for an upgrade on the inside room? Both are Guaranteed rates, so no cabin was assigned. Thanks in advance, so so so excited! :D
You should get an offer for upgrade from NCL, but usually on upgrades you can't pick the exact room, and are at mercy of the location given by NCL.
Enjoy your trip! We'll be doing the same in late July. Super excited!!!

Here's a quick clip in drydock...

Yeah, but we had enough nice days. I would gladly have stopped by for some appetizers and a margherita or two. I just really think making it flat pricing was a mistake.
I'm on Breakaway this summer and you've already convinced me to stay away from M-ville. The land-based versions have always been a disappointment anyway.

You are the one who made the claim, so it is down to you to prove it, not for someone else to disprove it.
Of course, if you are just speculating then that's fine. Just so long as we are clear.
I said they "likely do not", as was already said several times by others on this thread before as well. I did not ask you to disprove it, I asked you to prove your claim. LOL. Sounds like you just want to be contradictory. Have fun with that.

Could you please show proof that the cruise line likely keeps this for themself, rather than pass on to their employees?
No. Could you please show proof that they pass on to employees?
-
You'll save a LOT more than $50 if you book excursions outside of NCL from a tour guide in port.

Any word on if Moderno is being removed in favor of Los Lobos or Q possibly?
I was able to book reservation at Moderno on 7/23, so unless they haven't updated their reservation system, it is planned to still be there.

A lot of people feel like NCL nickels and dimes people to death...
No, NCL dollars and dollars people to death!

I find that I want to view the boards almost everyday as a fix to hold me over to the next cruise. Do many of you do the same thing?
I do learn a ton on the boards, but viewing them makes the waiting a little easier.
How about you??;p
Why else would I be here right now? LOL ;p

"Gratuities" are the tips you are forced to pay for service that may or may not be adequate and which the cruise line likely keeps for themselves rather than pass on to the employees.

Vodka Questions SPB
in Northern Europe & Baltic Sea
Posted
I can't speak to best or worst, but pic below is the bottle I just brought home a few days ago. The store where I shopped said it was not the best, but a very good quality. It's more of a souvenir, and I bought mainly for the design of the bottle. I spoke to the sales person in the store at length, and she was glad to give me many samples. :-D She explained that like anywhere, there is a wide range of quality, and seems that most of their offerings she warned me against buying, so they have plenty of bad vodka too. The store where I purchased wrapped this in bubble wrap, and I just put in middle of clothing and checked in luggage for trip home. That could be more problematic if you have multiple bottles, but just depends on your luggage space. Shipping would be quite expensive, and I did speak to various vendors about shipping for many different items, and none like to do it as issues during shipping fall back to the vendor to resolve. The duty free shop on the pier in SPb also had a variety of vodkas at good prices, but was more of your typical brands. I went ahead and bought a bottle of Grey Goose there since it was such a good deal.
