Thank you for such a fantastic review, your photos are incredible.
We board her once she arrives in Sydney, and we can not wait!

We ended up booking it through the AUS site, just paid the deposit with the rest to pay off.
There was only one balcony cabin left on deck 8, which is what we wanted.
Let the countdown and research begin

I’m thinking for piece of mind I’ll just book through the AUS site, and pay it off until next year. Then I know we won’t encounter any issues with the different countries.
Brings in October 2019!

Hello guys!!
Squid again, my husbands decided that he will do a cruise with me [emoji322] we are thinking to go for our anniversary next year from Sydney to New Zealand on the Ovation (been dying to try this one out!!)
Doing some hunting around today to work out a rough budget and I’ve noticed we can save about $1,300 on the US royal Caribbean site (even after the conversion) due to a good sale they’re running right now.
Before I hit buy, I was wondering if anyone on here had purchased a cruise on the US site but lived in Australia? This could possibly be a silly question for some and I apologise!
Many thanks,
🦑

Squidy 25,
Thank you so much for updating us! It was truly heart warming to read such a positive thread here. I hope you have many more special adventures like this.
Thank you!
We loved it and can’t wait to go again! We are looking at possibly a New Zealand one, or even a Disney Cruise now (we are avid Disney fans!)
Was so nice getting all dressed up for formal night, I even took advantage of the salon on board
Once I catch up with work, I plan to use some downtime to write up a review of our trip!

Love this picture:hearteyes: It looks like you had a great time!
I'm curious, if you don't mind sharing: what is the tattoo on your leg?
Thank you!! Was lovely having some one on one time with Dad!
My thigh tattoo is my Nanny’s handwriting out of the last letter I received from her. She got really sick, really quick and didn’t make it. She was one of my biggest supporters and life isn’t the same without her.
This was just after I had it done.

We purchased the deluxe package before we sailed on the Voyager (in AUD) which included all gratitudes in the advertised price and it was the better option as those who purchased it on board did so in USD and had to pay gratitudes as well.

If you cruise from Brisbane you are really looking at Princess Cruises, over the next year 11 of 13 cruises from Brisbane are with them. Holland America has a couple. (Only looking at major lines).
If you cruise from Sydney about 80 cruises over the next year including Royal. So the choices are much great from Sydney but you would need to factor the air travel in.
Thanks! We just arrived back from our cruise. We went with Royal as we have heard incredible things about them. Discounted flights to Sydney were helpful

We loved it! There was plenty to do, and see! We are defiantly hooked and thinking about our next one! Hopefully we can convince the rest of the family and my husband to go! I’m desperate to get on the new Symphony boat

9 News have reported it was an onboard glassing attack!

As an Aussie, I adore vegemite! I can eat that straight out of the jar. I like to try most things - you never know if you will like it or not! However, a hard pass on:
Mussels/scallops/clams/oysters etc
Any type of organ meat (or food from said organ meats, like pate and foie gras)
Soft cheeses like brie/blue cheese/Camembert
I also gag at the idea of having to drink a glass of milk - just can't do it!

Yeah, I have the option to add packages or ask the agent to do it. Same with the shore excursions.

I just went in to the travel shop closest to home, told them I’d like them to take over the booking as I was having issues with the website and paying the cruise off and they did. No dramas

The number of formal nights is set based on number of nights of your cruise - it will be in your docs.
Here is a reply to my recent query about theme nights for upcoming Voyager [8N] from RC:
"Thank you for contacting the Cruise Administration Department.
Please be advised, theme nights are offered onboard cruises of 4 nights or longer. Because these events vary by ship and itinerary, dates and times
will not be available until you board the ship and this can be found in the Cruise Compass.
Common themes on cruises are Black and White night, 50s/60s/70s/80s and Country Western.
This is subject to change.
Unfortunately we are not able to provide a proper response to specific theme nights that will occur on this cruise.
We appreciate your understanding.
Should you have further queries, do not hesitate to contact us.
Kind regards,
Cruise Administration"
Thanks, that’s helpful! I guess we will pack one set of nice clothes (we can always wear them again) and some funky clothes (we have matching Hawaiian shirts) in case of a theme night [emoji847]

Thanks for the help above - the TA assisting us is a little useless. She told me we could use AUD on board as well as the ports, luckily I’ve read the RCCL website as well as these forums and know otherwise.
I have another question and hope it’s alright to add it here instead of posting another thread. Do we find out about the formal night or any theme nights in advance?
Thank you once again for helping this first timer out!

We are staying at the Rendezvous Rocks, it looks relatively close to the cruise terminal. We found a lot of the hotels closer were waaaaaay out of our budget

He was speechless! He kept asking was I serious!
Exactly the reaction I wanted. He knows so much about the islands and boat already from reading the brochures and magazines about cruising! Let the countdown to March begin [emoji4]

Today's the day!! Telling dad tonight over tea with the family! I bought a sailors cap and a gawdy Hawaiian shirt as my way of telling him! Can't wait. Flights, insurance, hotel and cruise are sorted.
Just need to figure out what shore excursions we want to do and save some spending money!

Hey guys,
I have a question, with the Voyager cruise, can we use a preloaded currency card? I was advised that these aren't accepted as it doesn't have our names on them?
We have one from our time in America.
If not, can we bring US dollars on board and load our sea pass that way?
Many thanks for helping this newbie out!

Train would easily be the cheapest option. Or even an uber. Taxi's are super expensive as it can take up to an hour from Outer Harbour into the city. Train is clean and runs frequently.
