  1. We had one last December. We were a group of 8, 4 adults and 4 children. They will ask you what kind of pop you want and the shoe sizes for snorkel gear. There is a round table with 4 chairs and 2 lounge chairs. We were all coming and going all day long and it wasn't crowded, even at lunch because we sent the guys with 2 kids and then my DD and I went with 2 kids. There are also 4 floats. Ours had a hammock next to it and you can always use a couple of beach chairs in front of it. Just order what drinks you want and bring some from your room stash or drink the lemonade from the BBQ or buy drinks at the bar. I didn't tell them that there were 8 of us. We had a great day. DGS2 fell asleep on a float in the water with me and DGD5 wants to go back to the beach with the little house.

  2. My DH wears a tux and, even at 65, women look at him when he goes by. Then they look at their own DH, who is wearing a polo shirt and khakis and thinks he's dressed up and they don't look happy. I don't blame them either because they're all dressed up nice in a cocktail dress.

Hey, they even dress up the tables in the MDR on elegant night now.

  3. I'm glad your makeup cruise was successful. This thread reminded me of my own goof. DH, 5 kids and I were going skiing on a Monday. We lived in Denver at the time. On Sunday afternoon, we took all the kids to rent skis and boots so we wouldn't have to waste time on Monday. We also bought our lift tickets. Now we could go from the parking lot directly to the lift! What a good idea! We will save so much time! Then, to save even more time, we left home early enough to beat rush hour. We get up in the mountains and it dawns on me, I don't have the tickets! They're in my fannypack at home. I scare everyone when I holler STOP! We have to go back, the tickets are dated. We hit rush hour coming AND going. By the time we get on the slopes my name is Mud. I felt terrible.

  4. We're booked on both of them B2B. I can't wait. 21 days, 13 ports, 7 sea days! There is a separate roll call here on CC for B2Bers. We sailed on her just before the incident and had a wonderful cruise. It is a bummer about no serenity though. I'm looking forward to my first Guy's Burger and all those new ports.

  5. Expectations:

As per the excursion description, we are taken to several points of cultural and historical interest in the city of Nassau – several buildings of political and historical significance. Then we are taken to the zoo. I expect to see some exotic animals native to the Bahamas, such as the Half Moon Cay chickens.

For some reason, maybe it's past my bedtime, this hit my funnybone. Half Moon Cay chickens ... I can't stop laughing. Btw that's my cabana you are in, Dude. We had it last December when we were there with our DD, DSIL, and 4 DGC. My DGS2 fell asleep on one of the mats while floating out in the ocean with me. HMC was the best day ever.

    Loving your review.

  6. I haven't been on an Alaskan cruise yet, but I've lived there. Think layers, with the outermost layer being waterproof/windproof. Gloves and hat around the glaciers. Camera a must. Binoculars if you have them.

  7. Ditto. All the guides are great. Best tour and I have been to St. Martin at least 6 times. Bernards was great.

Which tour did you take? DH doesn't care about shopping, we're on a 21 day cruise, who has room in their luggage to shop in each port? Besides we're water/beach people.

OP sorry to hijack, maybe you need same info?

  8. I know exactly how you feel. A couple of weeks ago we booked a b2b on the Triumph. An 11 day and a 10 day, 21 days 13 ports! I'm about to burst! After we book it, DH says, "Don't tell anybody."

So many people think we go on too many cruises. They make comments about it. I know they're jealous. They say cruising is too expensive. People here don't ever take a real vacation, have never seen the ocean. They just haven't lived and you can't convince them otherwise. Let's have a moment of silence for them...

  9. We tried Princess and it was the Crown. We had a mini suite and enjoyed it very much. Our cruise started off on the wrong foot as we had stickers slapped on us and were shuttled off to a side gangplank for some reason, and entered into the smokey casino. We didn't get the "ah" factor from the atrium. Our first night we ate in the MDR, and it was open seating. We were seated with snobs who dropped names back and forth. Once we got past that, we enjoyed our cruise. We have always had our evening meal in the MDR, but for the first time, we ate at Horizon Court at dinner, even on my birthday. We are the type that dresses for dinner every night on Carnival, and DH wears a tux on elegant night, and I wear a gown. I wouldn't mind going on another Princess cruise, I wouldn't turn down any cruise. I love cruising.

  10. Perhaps they meant more cabin seating as some 4J,s only have a small chair and the one under the dresser with no couch, 21 days would be a long time with only one small chair and the bed to sit Yon:)

Yes, that's what I meant, either a couch or an armchair would help.

  11. We've booked our first 4J for a 21 day cruise. I hope we don't regret it. We've never been bothered by motion before, but, then again, we've never done this itinerary before. Since we will be in the cabin for 21 days, I wonder if the room steward could get us more seating. I guess it can't hurt to ask. Has anyone tried this?

  12. I started collecting the pins when we first started cruising. Don't bother. They keep changing them. First they were small whale tails, then they were large whale tails with no ship's name, then with the ship's name. Oh, and you only get them on cruises longer than 5 days.

Don't collect the mugs either. They've changed the cobalt blue ones with the ship's specifications on them 3 times since DH started collecting them.

I also started a photo album of just boarding photos. Some are 8 x 10, some 5 x 7, some portrait, some landscape, and since we've reached Platinum, they sometimes skip over them altogether. The "free" if you buy "whatever" ship's photos are all different sizes and orientations too. I give up.

  13. We have always used the weekly pill sorter and put mine and hubby's in a ziploc together. Bad idea. They opened and the pills got mixed up. We found these little mesh bags at Walmart in the Pharmacy area that zip closed. They have tiny ziplocs for pills. You can write on the ziplocs, then we can each have a mesh bag (different colors). I also print out the prescriptions from the Walmart website where I order them and then list the supplements on the back.

  14. We've done two pseudo b2b cruises. The first time we drove to Florida from Kansas and decided if we were going to drive all that way, we might as well make it worth our while. We did the Freedom 8 day out of Ft. Lauderdale on a Western Exotic, got off and hopped in our car, and drove 3 hours to Port Canaveral, and boarded the Sensation for a 4 day to the Bahamas. The Sensation cruise was free because we have a Carnival Mastercard and paid with points.

The second pseudo b2b was out of Galveston. We tried Princess for my birthday (Ultimate Balcony Breakfast:D) and went to Roatan, Belize, and Cozumel. Then we stayed at a hotel, went up to Houston to pick up our daughter and grandson, stayed another night, and boarded the Triumph and witnessed their first cruise.

This coming January we have a b2b booked on the Magic, same room, cove balcony, different itinerary. Can't wait.

  15. Fortunately next year when the Triumph does those 2 special sailings from Galveston to SJ, then SJ back to Galveston for a total of 21 days it can be done as a B2B because both legs include calls at a distant foreign port.

Not so, we tried it and they told us it violated the Jones Act. We had one leg booked and were trying to book the other and we couldn't. We called Carnival and that's what we were told. He got a supervisor to cancel the leg that we had already booked without penalty, though.

  16. [ They gave us our new sign and sail cards when we got off and took the S&S card from the first leg after we dinged off the ship.

They took your sail & sign cards from the first leg? You didn't get to keep them? Also, do you get to have Bon Voyage Photo taken for second leg? I have a photo album with a photo of the ship, our Bon Voyage photo, and our Sail & Sign cards in it for all our cruises. I NEED these items. lol

We will be doing ours in Galveston.
