So if I am being completely honest - I have sailed Royal once before. I went on my first honeymoon over 20 years ago on Majesty OTS. But that was another life ago, so it doesn't really count, right ;-)
I understand what you are saying about ship choice - but the only reason we are going is for Havana - so my options are take it, or leave it!
Mike
Ahh, I see! Well sail on Majesty! Cuba sounds fun! First honeymoon 20 years ago and now have a 6 & 8 year old! Fresh! You really started over!! Lol

We are experienced cruisers on Celebrity, but this will be our first trip on Royal.
We plan to cruise on Majesty OTS over New Years. The only available cabin that will sleep 4 is an Inside, which is a non starter for us - we prefer having a balcony.
Our plan is to book a Jr Suite and an Inside. We all plan to stay in the Jr suite - which as far as I can tell is just a plain old balcony room. However because our kids are young, 6 and 8, we will need to split ourselves up for booking purposes with one adult and one child per room. Are there any "suite perks" applicable to a Jr suite that one of us will be missing out on?
We are aware we will have different muster stations and will take care of the cabin steward appropriately. Any other considerations I should be aware of?
Thanks in advance -
Mike
I believe you will receive double points in a jr suite. To be honest, if this is your first RCL ship.. EVER! Go big! Newer ships have newer innovations, the shows are better, the rooms are better, the food, entertainment and tons of more things to do for you & your significant other and the kids!!! Way more enjoyable. Majesty will disappoint. Check out ships in the Freedom Class, Oasis Class, Anthem, and Harmony Class!! Adventure is cool too. But don’t ruin your first impression of RCL by sailing Majesty!! [emoji4]

For those of you who have been on the pearl recently, have they updated the televisions to having the pay per view options? We will be in the haven and had heard pay per view is an included perk.

Update please?? Is PPV an added perk when you’re in, The Haven?

This is for all cruise lines, to accommodate everyone in a timely manner. The amount of passengers SIGNIFICANTLY outweigh the number of crew. Quite simple. This also gives you the opportunity to meet other passengers.
There are other options if you wish to not dine with other guests. You can always dine in specialty restaurants, room service, buffet, or simply stay off of cruise ships.

I am not sure why you are positing this on the South America Board.
My recommendation is to post this on the cruise line board for the ship you are sailing on.

Got it! Thank you. Was my first time creating a post and didn’t know what I was doing lol

How much would you tip your butler for 2 weeks using them regularly?

I don’t know about full bottles, but I did get a couple of drinks from the bar and filled my yeti cup up.

Why? Port changes are 100% allowed and agreed to in the cruise contract. No where does it say "we reserve the right to change the itinerary as long as everyone sailing the cruise agrees to it".
Yeah but remember, no one wants to read all of that in the fine print because they don’t think it would happen to them. Then when it happens, they come here and complain and STILL sail on the cruise lol. They always tend to think their argument is valid. Newbies.

Good thing then that the OP had no expectation of visiting those ports.
Exactly lol.

Waited 2 days after Final Payment for ncl to release the new 14 day itinerary and took away 3 ports!!!!
Who does 5 ports and 9 sea days on a 14 day cruise. Deff not on good terms with that

Very dissapointed. They just want more sea days to re coupe thier loses
You obviously are disconnected with the news. They are not trying to have more sea days to recoup any loses. San Juan is NOT able to receive any tourists, as the island has severe damages, and 90% power loss and struggling to maintain the little they have. St. Maarten is destroyed along with St. Thomas. You would have complained either way if you had of sailed there. Be glad you didn’t.

No, anyone can be discriminated against, it has nothing to do with a "protected class". By your logic it would be OK for a restaurant to charge $2.95 for a hamburger for all customers but white males who are charged $49.95.
Whoa... this conversation took a turn for the COMPLETELY OFF TOPIC. Let’s stick to cruise & gratuities here.
For all, either agree to cruise line polices or don’t cruise at ALL. It’s simple.

The crew members receive a contracted amount of pay regardless of how guests handle the service charges (or whatever NCL decides to call the automatic charges they assess)
Not the stewardess and servers. All other crew members yes. The gratuity is for servers and stewardess.

We have cruised a decent amount over the years and have tried specialty dinning on many NCL ships. Overall, I must admit to being underwhelmed. There have been a few really nice experiences, but not really worth the extra price.
To make it worse, it seems like NCL is pushing more and more in that direction. For example the Margaritaville experience on the Getaway and Breakaway.
So, I suggest we stop getting caught up in the hype of Specialty dining and demand that the cruise lines provide their best dining options at all dining rooms to all guests. No more paying extra for dining!
Crazy idea???
I suggest you stop going to the speciality dining’s yourself, pick another cruise line, and stop trying to entice others, to stop because of YOUR PERSONAL dissatisfaction.
To make it worse, you sound ungrateful you are able to afford the luxury of cruising. Your points are invalid. There’s a simple fix to your unhappiness, but Cruise Critic forums are not for petitions nor should they be a platform for your pettiness.
This message is rhetorical.... No response needed.

Hi there, I'm going on my first cruise in January with NCL Getaway. I have a problem paying up front for service that I haven't even had, a bit like when a restaurant automatically charges you gratuities and you have an issue with the service or food. I'm not saying I anticipate an issue but I want to give generously to the servers who serve me personally especially if its a regular server at a bar or a favorite restaurant on the ship. Is this unreasonable? Can I opt out of paying this fee in advance? Thanks
No. Every passenger is obligated to pay the standard gratuities. They are to make sure your stewardess and severs onboard get paid. This is how they earn money.

How does an adult make a $1000+ vacation mistake?
I agree. But this wasn’t a mistake.. the OP said their relative passport already expired and they leave tomorrow. So they intentionally waited to the last minute, to prepare themselves lol

Seeing as how you can book without even having a passport, I'll go out on a limb and say this is not true. And, you can cruise on a passport that expires the day after you return. (Assuming your ship returns on time, of course).
ETA: Wow. Seems my response was a bit slow.
Her passport is already expired. Poor planning.

My sister-in-law just discovered her passport is expired and can not find her birth certificate.
Our cruise leaves tomorrow. Has anyone ever had this problem and figured out some miracle to be able to board.
Have no idea. You can’t even book with a passport expiring within 6mos.
