  1. Hello,

Does amyone have an experience about gluten free options on one of those ships?

We would like to cruise in the Yacht Club, our daughter has celiac so we wondered how complicated things are and are there any options?

Are there any options available for quick treats in the club lounge?

    Thanks

Please accept my heartfelt apologies. I did not intend to offend - just expressing my opinion. I will choose my words more carefully in the future.

Hope you and your family have a wonderful cruise. Kay

My appologies. I meant I am sorry if I called you older cruiser....not that you were offending. On the contrary, you were very helpful in your answer.

  3. Thanks all for your valuable inputs.

@kwokpot, the reaaon we were thinking of Celebrity is that it fits our point of interest (we wanted a Northern Europe cruise) and fits also the dates perfectly (we wanted it to be special for one kid's special event. We actually were thinking about the new MSC ship sailong on those dates, but the Yacht Club non refundable deposit is quite high in my opinion for 2 suites that we need, not that we plqn to cancel bit will all that is going on, we would prefer to have this option up to 3 nonths of the cruise. Since this is a route that we would be out almost every day, the attractions on the ship are less important.

TBH I would stick with those two lines. Is there a particular reason you want to sail Celebrity with your Children? Celebrity is a 'make your own fun' cruiseline. Besides the kid and teens club there literally is nothing on the ship that's geared towards kids. No water parks, rope course, rock climbing walls, no kids pool, no arcade, no merry go round, no aqua theater, no flowrider, not even a basketball court. After cruising the Symphony and Seaview for your kids the Silhouette will be a major downgrade and TBH a quite boring cruise. You know what your kids did on those cruises. If they took advantage of all those amenities, your choice should be quite clear, since none of those amenities exist on the Silhouette.

@MarKay525, no need to insult off course), this is only from what we read;). I believe almost all parent say that about their children, but ours are really well behaved;) and I agree with you about the land based resort, so I am old fashioned as well;)

I am one of those older cruisers and I enjoy seeing children on the ship. I do expect them to be well behaved enough to not push all the elevator buttons or not run through the Solarium, but I would expect the same of a child at a land based resort. Call me old fashioned.

As mahdnc said, summer brings more families, so more kids. The late August sailing might have fewer children as it seems like some schools start mid-August these days. IMHO, if an older cruiser (which is not an accurate description of the Celebrity clientele to begin with, again-my opinion) doesn't want to sail with kids, they shouldn't be on a cruise in August! 😁

Again, thank you all, we will think again about the options we have and pros and cons.

Have a wonderful day and weeekend.

  4. Hi,

we were wondering if the Silhouette will be ok with kids? I read that Celebrity is mainly for older cruisers, however, we were thinking to take a cruise next year, we have 3 kids, ages 6, 12 and 17.

We were cruising on Royal's Symphony of the seas and MSC Seaview,

I saw there are some activites for kids, I was wondering how will be the atmosphere in the ship, while they are really not noisy, I don't want them to feel uncomfortable going throught the ship.

Just to add, it is planned next August, if that matters.

    Thanks in advance.

  5. Hi,

We are thinking about next year cruise on the MSC Euribia.

I was wondering if anyone has any experience regarding gluten free variety on the Yacht club and the top sail lounge and the sun deck?

Is there any variety at all on the lounge & sun deck for gluten free?

What is the procedure on the YC, is there a menu and you choose at the spot or you need to prepare in advance? Is there any off menu items you can order?

Also, any idea if there are gluten free options on Jean Philippe chocolate or gelato ( I assume the crepes are out for sure)?

One last question (for now:)), is it possible to pre order gluten free cake for our daughter's birthday?

This is the 1st time we are cruising with our celiac daughter, for her birthday.

    Thanks a lot

  6. Hi,

Does anyone know if there is variety of gluten free options other than the MDR? I did read about the windjammer as well as the pizza @sorremto's, but couldn't find  anything on the solarium.

Also, are there gf buns on the dog house?

We are thinking about Anthem or the MSC Euribia next year for a cruise.

Does anyone have any opinions on gf options for MSC vs. Royal?

    Thanks a lot

They replied to you in 2 weeks (not a month) and that was unacceptably slow to you but you replying 3 weeks later is fine?

    Am I missing something?

My typing mistake, should have been October 26th when they 1st replied and 27th is when I wrote back...

  8. Hi,

Is there any customer service that really works for MSC?

I contacted them on September 22nd after returning from the cruise and got an answer only a month later, October 6th, after that I replied back on October 27th until now, I didn't get any response even after keepn sending them e-mails.

I heard they are not doing well on the "back office", but this seems to be pure lack of service.

Is there any customer service manager or some function similar to approach or here on the forum?

    Thanks

  9. Thanks,

Just got my e-tickets, cannot wait )

I see under orivilages, among other:
"Unlimited beverage selection in MSC Yacht Club areas and in all bars and restaurants of the ship according to the drink selections available in the different venues."

But this is what I see under purchased services:

"600 - COMPLIMENTARY BOTTLED MINERAL WATER, AMERICAN COFFEE AND/OR TEA DURING LUNCH AND DINNER IN MAIN DINING ROOM. RESERVED ONLY FOR THE GUESTS WHO HAVE BOOKED THE CRUISE THROUGH MSC-USA. VALID FOR ALL NON-CARIBBEAN"

So it seems a bit confusing at least to me as a 1st timer, I assume I shouldn't pay attention to this one, right?

What is the 600 code mean? Do you know what was previously the Deluxe drink package before the change ( I booked it prior to it) and what appear on YC before?

I would like to know so I could try and get the old one honoured, so my kids could get the Venchi ice cream and millshakes (or else, I would pay a lot:)).

    Thanks

  10. Hi,

We are booked for YC in september on the Seaview ( 5 people total).

I just looked on my account and saw that under the price breakdown I have mentioned OBS mineral water and coftee in dining room for each of us but under passenger details on other I see under my name mentioned all inclusive anytime dining at the private MSC YC restaurant.

I don't see this mention in the other passenger,

I see under my bookings page that it is mentioned as MSC Yacht club experience so I assume nothing to worry about, right?

    Thanks

I had problems trying to obtain status match via the online form, too. (I am in the UK).

Ended up emailing them, and that worked.

I did the same, without luck.

The US branch told me that so I tried the local brsnch and they in turn, ignored this...

  12. 8 minutes ago, Beamafar said:

You don't need to book a cruise to do the status-match.

It's not a local branch decision.  You can only access your booking on the website of the country in which you've booked.  Our upcoming cruise was booked through a German online TA which meant I could only access the booking on the MSC Germany website.

Thanks, but still, I need to have the form filled and cannot do it online from some reason in the local website, so the problem os having the form from them.

    I will try once again.

    Thanks

You could do the status-match in your own country (no need to inform them that you have a booking), then apply the Voyagers Club number that you get to your booking to avail of the 5% discount.

Thanks, the problem is that it is not done on the web but they need to send me a file (unlike the US website I saw) and they say it is only for those booked directly in Israel.

I will not let that ruin my trip at all (especially since the YC fare I have is much cheaper then if I would book it directly with them).

It is just strange about the MSC policy, this is wht I wanted to know if someone did manage to do so, to see if it is just the local branch decision.

  14. Hi,

Did anyone booked a cruise on MSC from a different country of residence and managed to register the voyagers club and the status match?

I booked via US TA and live in Israel but it seems impossible to register since the US office is telling me (and the TA) they can only handle US citizens and I should contact the local branch which told me they only help those who booked directly with them or local TA.

I tried it on my own and the booking number is not identified in the the Israeli MSC website, only the US.

It is strange to me, on an RC cruise last year I could log in via any country website domain and did order with the same TA.

    Thanks in advance.

  15. Thanks,

I saw the posts but also understand that MSC is all but consistent so wondering about it.

I am also waiting to try the venchi drinks I read so much about here.

My wife doesn't drink alcohol and off course my children aren't as well, but they will not say no to good ice cream and crepes:)

  16. Hi,

We are 1st time cruisers on the MSC and picked the YC with our kids the coming September.

We made the booking prior to the drink package changes and was told by our TA that the old one should be for us.

Has anyone sailed and did get the deluxe package and mainly the venchi?

My kids would love the ice cream (would buy it if not part of the package, but still...).

This for sure will not ruin the cruise, just puzzled on how they can know who booked when.

    Thanks

  17. The question is why they are deciding on that policy, unlike other lines.

With all the difficulties, at least for me it in the Symphony cruise it was more than $1,500 saving for 2 rooms, and for the coming MSC cruise it is over $1,000.

I guess they too need to know the world is being global and there is no reason to have different prices for each country.

I am sure cruises doesn't cost the Israeli office of MSC more so if theybwant to have more profit, customers doesn't need to fund them...

  18. I did order via US TA, I did get the booking number and confirmation.

I did paid the deposit with non-US credit card so from this point no issues.

The problem I am facing are several:

    1. Login to my booking is only via the US website and not the local one.

    2. When trying to registet to the status match or even the voyager, Iam in trouble, the local office tells me I can only do it with my TA, they only handle those booking directly in Israel, either with them or Israeli TA, the US website requires US address/phone for online registration, customer care telling me I need to approqch the local office....

My TA did try to contact MSC, tehy told her I have a number but wouldn't let her know what it is(strange)...and theybkind of been "angry" that she booked me.

I will try to call them directly and ask...

I must admit that this is my second cruise booked, last one was again with the same TA, last September on the Symphony, had no issues at all. I really don't know why MSC is giving hard time, having each country different website and cannot log to the booking with each site.

I didn't try to add anything to the cruise yet , cruise is only on September, I do plan to add some items, photos, laundry etc.

Hope this will be fine. I did ask in local forum, and got feedback about people booking via non Israeli TA (not US though) and had no issue, they booked and cruised last year.

    Thanks

  19. Hi All,

Do you know what is the old code for Med YC cruise, if any?

We booked 1st MSC cruise in September prior to the change and we really hope to get the deluxe since I am the only one drinking alcohol as my wife and kids would only use the virgin cocktails/smoothies and off-course, the gelaton, my TA told me she got confirmation from MSC that it would be honoured, but from reading posts here, MSC is not really known as "organized" one.

I will sure take the old packages list with me.

    Thanks all

Called my TA and he applied the code to an existing YC sailing save us $632.

It worked easily with your TA?

My TA told me MSC told her it is only for new bookings and cannot apply this to an existing one.

Since I am on the YC amd booked prior to the drink changes, I am afraid to cancel and rebook since then I would for sure lose the old drink package (I booked prior to the change).

    Thanks
