1. AT&T does offer cruise packages. We purchased one last year and I just called and got a plan today for our cruise leaving Saturday. The offer 3 levels. I chose $60 for 50 minutes and 100 texts. They do have a less expensive plan and also another plan with data for $120.

I need your advise about this. My friend purchased an AT&T package and spent an hour on the phone with a rep that gave her step by step instructions for settings so that she would not receive a big bill upon return. Her DH never turned his phone on but charged it up the night before so it was good to go when they arrived in Ft Lauderdale. They received a bill for $500 and another $60 bill for charging up DH's phone. AT&T told her she received itexts and would not remove charges and thanked her for using AT&T. Besides turning off wifi and turning on airplane mode are there other settings which need to be turned off? I do not want to use phone, text, or data but would like to use my camera and downloaded music without being charged extra from AT&T. Do you know if that is possible. Unfortunately I cannot trust AT&T to tell me the truth so I can avoid additional charges.

  2. Thank you for your generosity of time dedicated to this review. Bet you never dreamed you would still be interacting all these months after your sailing. Refreshing focus on the positive. Your words & pics make me thrilled and elated for our upcoming sailing on the Oasis.

Note to amri638 - if that's 2014 we will be sailing with you. Feel free to join our roll call & meet and mingle.

  3.
I think I should know this but what do you mean make sure that our profile is marked appropriately? Where do we check/see this?
When you check in on first leg it will ask at debarkation if you are taking taxi, airport & flight info...you want to check continuous cruiser.

Also on rci website 'before you board' & 'search box' you get b2b info a/k/a continuous cruiser.
  4.
Not sure what transpired in your experience or if you are referring to the RCI luggage valet program but to be clear, this service is a $20 pp charge for all passengers on ships and ports that offer it and a n/c service for those passengers in Grand Suites and higher and Pinnacle Club C & A members. Standard airline luggage fees still apply.

You have to sign up for it through Guest Services on board, typically by noon of day 5 (on 7 night itineraries). You then leave your luggage outside of your door on the final night as with the standard protocol and it will then be processed and handled to your final destination airport for you.
Exactly, both cruises were 7 days and when I went to guest services they said we apologize but $20pp valet service will not be availble for this sailing. Would have been great to know this pre cruise as we might not have made plans for the day in Ft Lauderdale. 1st year we were on Independence OTS & last year Legend OTS both sailing round trip from Port Everglades. Yes I was depending on the luggage valet service but advised on day 2 at the guest services desk it was not going to be available. They were very apologetic.
  5. The last two years I called to verify I would have valet service and both times I sat in the Ft Lauderdale airport with 5 pieces of luggage from 9Am until 1PM check in which was two hours prior to my flight. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. I was a balcony guest the first year and Jr suite guest the 2nd year.
  6. Thanks everyone. It is a bummer but I'll live. My body just doesn't like milk. I can have cheeses and some other dairy but not milk. I will live without my almond milk for a week.

I bought a six pack of 32 oz cartons of non refrigerated Almond milk which needs to be refrigerated after opening. If I wanted it I would not hesitate to double wrap a carton in zip lock bags and slip it into my checked bag or carry on. Most likely no one will say a word and if they do the worst that can happen is they will take the carton. If you enjoy Almond milk, bring it. This is your vacation to enjoy.

  7. Same here; that was a good day when that sale dropped. I haven't yet seen prices lower than what I got when I got all those drops during that sale earlier this year (and I use a site that checks them multiple times a day, so I don't miss much).

Please share a link or name for price checking site you use which checks multiple times a day. Seems to me it would be worth s small fee if I can take advantage of price drops.

  8. Well there is always one in the crowd. I'm the one who really disliked the Legend. Sorry RCCL.

We did the 15 day Panama last March.

The best part of the entire cruise was Desmond from the entertainment group.

I won't go into detail. But I will say I have three more cruises on the books. All on larger ships

I love the neighborhood feel of small ships. The itinerary was fabulous except RCI did a bate and switch with St Lucia and took us to Labadee. We sailed on the Legend OTS last December when she returned from Europe with Norovirus. Delayed boarding, total ship scrub which was great left us with a cabin that was not set up properly for about 4 days (no ice bucket, coffee pot, extra requests such as hangers etc.) Air conditioning vents had been turned off per request of previous guests and we were about to have a heat stroke in the cabin. Maintenance appeared on day 4 to open vents. It all added up to a very disappointing cruise as it was the first time we sprang for a JS. When I approached my cabin door with a tray of coffee my room steward saw me, smiled and waved. On past sailings when the same situation occurred a crew member would whip out a key and open the door for me. Crew was so busy trying to catch up from clean up they were exhausted. There was definately no wow on this ship. We are over 60 and my DH said he would never go back on the geriatrics of the seas.

  9. Gold Coast is located 2 doors down from Sixt actually. It is about a a 1.5 mile drive from where you are staying. While Budget is walking distance from the hotel, Gold Coast was the only company I found in the area that offered free shuttle service pick-up from the hotel as well as free drop-off right to our cruise line in Port Everglades. It saved us some money by using them to drop us off to the Port rather then paying a cab or shuttle service to take us.

Thanks for this tip. I will keep this in my cruise planning file for future reference. It is not always so easy getting pick up to and from the port.

  10. I've gone to the Swap Shop twice and had a great time. It was much better on the weekend. We rented a car. It is 6.47 miles from the Hyatt Place 17Th street Convention Center to the Swap Shop directions.

If you clicked on the Swap Shop in my post which is located in Ft Lauderdale you see the flea market is indoors. Maybe the other poster is thinking of the Farmers Market and not the Flea Market or a different location. Since it has been a few years since my visit I called to confirm the indoor hours which are as follows:

    Mon, Tues, Wed 9am-5pm

    Thurs 8am-5pm

    Fri 9am-6pm

    Sat & Sun 8am-6pm

If you click on the directions above it is a mapquest from your Hotel to the Swap Shop. I did not see fine antiques or antique mall type items rather all your typical flea market stuff & tropical themed stuff ...clothing such as swim suites, tshirts, sun dresses, costume jewelry, art, flowers, etc and also included a lot of crap a crap. One year I bought a carry on for my treasures. It lasted about 10 years. The other time I bought crap a crap including tshirts & swim suit cover ups. There was also a circus on weekends and a huge amount out doors then too.

  11. On current sailings there are promo's for 'theme cruises' (themecruisefinder dot com) which are booked through a specific TA sponsoring the themed cruise. You may only attend the special entertainment/events when booking with the sponsoring TA. Many people pay big bucks to the TA to attend the entertainment ie wine cruises, golf cruises, poker cruises, rock and roll cruises, celebrity cruises etc. I suppose there are a fair amount of people filling cabins for the themed cruises so why shouldn't RCL try to get a slice of the pie. RCI isn't going to solicit big names for free or for what I pay for a cruise and frankly I'm happy with paying 1/4 the price and enjoying the free food and entertainment. I would not pay extra for any of the current entertainment options and can't imagine paying extra for entertainment (ok maybe Bette Midler) but it could be a good option for people who can & want to spend the big bucks. The beauty of a cruise is that everyone can have an individual experience based upon their personal interests.

My girlfriend who always gets at least an Owners Suite for thousands of dollars is always ticked off when I tell her how I enjoyed the same cruise for $800 to $1000 pp for a balcony. When you look at the suite amenities they are not really getting that much more for the extra money. Perhaps more options for more money would be good options for them as well.
