I'll be going on the 26/10/19 Indy Transatlantic. I'm worried that there may not be many other kids for him to hang around with because of the length of the cruise. What's your experience with this type of cruise? Are there many kids on board?

    Edit: He's 15

We did this cruise a little over a  year ago.  There may have been less then a dozen kids under 16.  We did the Symphony of the Seas TA last year and there were 15 kids under the age of 16.  You will feel right at home as my guess would be 80% of the passengers were Brit's, Germans, Swedes and  those from Scotland.  It was a great cruise, Bay of Biscay was like glass. It was shorts and T"S after the third day, the four ports in the Caribbean were all  great weather hitting low 80's every day. Being a American I can't relate or convert to celsius.  The kettles were removed but you can get one from the cabin steward.  Halloween  was awesome, big party in the promenade and a haunted house in the ice rink.  happy cruising.

I'm sure there'll be enough for him to do on such a nice ship if there aren't any other teens. Thanks for this info, really excited!

  3. Quantum may be newer, but Freedom still has plenty of amenities onboard, some not found on the Quantum. They're both a similar size, too. Personally I prefer the Freedom due to the superior Royal Promenade, traditional, gorgeous three tier MDR, and cheaper aft balcony cabins, compared to the loft suites on the aft of the Quantum.

Outside promenade deck with chairs to have a quite place to enjoy being outside with a view of the water.

Viking Crown area open to all guests.

    Windjammer that is less crowded.

Schooner Bar that is a central part of the ship, not a seeming afterthought.

Helicopter pad open to all guests.

Fitness Center with expansive views (for now).

All very small things that actually make a big difference to the experience! (At least for my family and I).

  5. The Oasis Class is obviously amazing, but the Freedom Class is as well. What do you think the Freedom Class does better than the Oasis? I'm going to start with the fact that reservations aren't really needed for anything on the Freedom Class. It feels like you have to have every minute of your time planned out on Oasis beforehand, since reservations are needed for many experiences.

  6. I think it might help people answer if you distil your question to find the facts you really want

Do you want info wrt a specific group of passengers, or destination, or on-board activities etc etc

Presume you don’t want to know the colour palette in the various venues ... or perhaps you do?

Give us a clue, so we can better answer your question

I actually wanted to know which one is better on board, not the technicalities of the tonnage and what restaurants are named what. I didn’t make it clear enough though, my own fault.
  7. Azura has a useless, noisy sea screen. Ventura has a roof over a swimming pool instead.

    Both are smaller than Britannia.

PS Hope you don't get too many irrelevant replies from people who have never, and never will go on these ships. Unfortunately a question about the bigger ships seem to attract the die hard small ship lovers.

Oh dear, is the sea screen loud across most cruise lines, as I was looking forward to watching a film at night in the fjords!
