  1. We have only travelled on one Princess cruise, the rest Celebrity. We thought the Princess staterooms were more spacious and there was more of a variety of things to do during the day. They had for example an on board choir you could join with a daily rehearsal and a performance which was fun. Might have been just that particular cruise but we found the average age older. Otherwise we found Princess and Celebrity comparable.
Thought excursion booking and organisation better on Celebrity

This is exactly it. It’s not so much the fear of becoming very ill with omicron on the ship. It’s now the consequences on board. The risk of being contact traced, quarantined maybe in an inside cabin, being separated from your family or the numbers getting to a level where the ship is denied entry at ports. In other words your expensive cruise being ruined. Plus the quarantine on the ship lasts the entire journey, not 5 days as on land. It’s not the same as having cold symptoms in your own house. So I will be wearing my mask to try to avoid all of the above and I’m hoping a lot of other people will too.

  3. The reason I’d like the test earlier than the day of cruise is that if I test positive on Friday or Saturday I’d still be in my hotel and could possibly stay there if positive. If I test positive dock side half an hour before check in Id be standing there with my cases looking for somewhere to stay. Because I’m staying 3 night pre cruise in Fort Lauderdale my test to fly from the Uk will have expired.

  4. I booked a test through Celebrity website for a pre cruise test at the port 2 days prior to boarding on the 20th February. Someone pointed out on a Celebrity Facebook page that you may not be allowed access if it isn’t your sailing day. I emailed the test centre and am just getting an automated reply directing me to Celebrity. You could be hours on the phone to Celebrity! Has anyone actually had a test at the port like this before boarding day? I’m travelling from the Uk and staying 3 nights pre cruise in Fort Lauderdale and don’t want to check out of my hotel on Sunday and do a test dock side at the last minute only to find I’m positive! I’d like to have something pre booked for peace of mind.

As Fort George is right beside the cruise terminal, I wouldn't pay for a tour that includes the fort. As for the beach, if you want to spend time there instead of exploring the island, just take a taxi ($6) or a water taxi ($5).

That is a great point and just what I needed to know as I have no idea of the geography. Why pay if you can walk there yourself? The thing is though it’s not clear of you will be allowed to explore yourself. It’s saying Celebrity only excursions and government approved yours so not sure if say a water taxi is included in that.

  6. That is reassuring. We had the corner one before on a different ship and really loved it. We have been assigned this one after an upgrade bid and noticed it’s right under the oceanview . Thought there might have been noise. Photos show shade from an overhang above but that is no bad thing as we have found some balconies too hot to sit on at midday and we are fair skinned!
Very pleased to get the upgrade!

  7. Thanks Eastern Command. I have had two shots and a booster and have both the vaccination cards and the app and a hard copy of status. I now have the updated and refreshed app with booster and new date but Celebrity have accepted the photo of the vaccination card surprisingly. I will be bring all evidence with me!

  8. I’m also from the Uk and have just seen this thread. I just posted the same issue separately! I have tried uploading a clear photo of the printed vaccination certificate with bar code and this has been rejected after 24 hours. Now waiting to see if a photo of the small vaccination card would work. I also wondered if it was the expiry date on the official document causing an issue. We are from Northern Ireland and apparently the app updates the date automatically a week before expiry. Unfortunately our expiry date is the 15 th February and the cruise is on the 20th.
I would have thought this system with the app was supposed to save time and streamline the process. All this fiddling around and still can’t get validated!

  10. We are from the UK, Northern Ireland specifically. We tried to check in with the Celebrity app and after 24 hours it has failed to validate a clear photograph of the printed certificate with bar code. I have now tried a photo of the small hand written NHS vaccination card and now waiting to see if it will accept this. Anyone else had this issue or can suggest a way to resolve it? I don’t fancy several hours on hold to Celebrity. I will also try ringing the travel agent in the meantime.
