I don't know where you are located but Barcelona is 8 hours ahead of the west coat USA and 5 hours ahead of the east coast. Keep that in mind when booking flights as the time difference will eat into your sightseeing time.

We charged a family cruise on our chase explorer credit card ($100 per year). When our granddaughter and her parents were unable to go because our granddaughter had a ruptured appendix, the card paid out her and her parents trip costs in full.

It's an interesting question. We were on a ship that had a large group on it. The participants frequently invited us to their private activities.

Maybe that would be the case on your cruise but if you really want to see all the entertainment, I would book with the group.

Long Beach airport is closer than LAX. If you can be off the ship by 8 or 8:15 you should be able to get to the airport on time.

I wouldn't pay off a cruise till the money was due in case there was some sort of emergency and I had to cancel.

Insurance companies are far happier to pay a claim for a small deposit than for a final price that might be 10K or more.

If you have a 9am flight you will have to be at FLL by 8 or so which means you will need to be in a cab leaving by 7. Unless you dock at 6 or earlier I would not even attempt it.

I would put the odds of you making that flight at less than 10%. Are you a gambler?

I would call and see if anything can be done. If not I would call every day and hopefully eventually find a helpful person. Sometimes if one person can't or won't do anything, another one will. Good luck.

I book most car rentals on kayak. I check the rate every couple of days, and if it goes down I rebook and cancel the previous reservation. I some times do this a bunch of times before our trip.
