One item I pack for all vacations is a Yeti type tumbler to keep my ice from melting. I fill them with smaller items when packing to use the void.

Bungee cords - some people use them to secure the balcony door open (if not prohibited)

Over the door organizer/shoe holder - I don't recall which cruise line but a least one listed this item as a prohibited item because it causes door damage.

You can only order one drink at a time so some cruise lines don't allow double pours as it counts as two drinks. :whiskey-glass::whiskey-glass: .

Apparently this restriction does not apply to the HAL beverage package.

I always buy the drink package. It takes only 5 or 6 alcoholic bar drinks to break even. Near the end of the day I find out what number I am on then obtain enough waters or vitamin waters to get me to 15. I now have some for the cabin and to supplement a day when i might hit 15. Sometimes i may obtain a couple shots of vodka to take back to my cabin. Now I can mix a cocktail in my cabin whenever I choose. Many posters assume you are drinking 15 alcoholic drinks a day. It's nice being able to also choose specialty coffees, bottIed waters, favored waters, and non-alcoholic specialty drinks without cost being a consideration.

On second reading of HAL'S policies I found that marijuana, even medical marijuana, is considered to be illegal by HAL. So, my scenario as described would violate HAL'S policies.

The question posted by the OP caused me to think through a scenario for Alaska cruise.

I legally buy recreational marijuana in eCig form in Alaska before embarking. What restricts me from bringing it onboard and smoking it in my cabin while on waters within the state of Alaska?

HAL restricts illegal drugs, but mine is legal while in Alaska.

Alaska prohibits the use of marijuana in public places. My cabin is private.

HAL''s smoking policy specifically allows for the use of eCigs and vaporizers in you cabin.

Admittedly I am not familiar with maritime laws but in the above scenario I don't believe I have broken any laws or the ship''s passage contract.

It may be more complicated though if the ship is in federal waters as part of the park service where federal law would trump state law.

Just thinking out loud and looking for opinions.
