  1. We had a cabana this past January on Nellie's beach and we had 7 in our group and another family of 4 that just wanted to leave their "stuff" at the cabana, and Horby our attendant gave all of us wristbands for the buffet. Most of the time there was only 3 or 4 at the cabana but we used it as a home base for everyone to check in what they did for the day, or they were our in the water on the floating mats. It worked great!

Horby did a great job getting us drinks all day, and we tipped him very well for doing a great job, and for allowing us all to drop by the cabana during the day.:D:D:D

  2. Thank to all. We will be sailing over the holidays. Anyone ever put lights on their balcony ? Is there an outlet on the balcony ?

    Thanks in advance

We have brought solar powered Christmas lights and zip tied them to our balcony railing, they worked great! They charged during the day and they would last almost all night. We bought ours at Target.

  3. If you turn it into L&F, it may not go any further. People have related stories about turning in a camera or expensive sunglasses and then found out who they belonged to and told them to go to L&F because they turned them in. L&F did not have whatever it was.

More stories about people immediately calling after discovering things had been left in the cabin. Told everything was turned in to L&F in Florida. Called Florida, no items.

I think the finder is doing the best he/she can under the circumstances. The odds of cash getting back to its owner are slim and none and Slim just left town. Too many hands have access to it with no chain of accountability.

At best, I would report the find to L&F and tell them if someone asks about it to contact me but I'd never leave it with them.

I agree with you, especially since it is cash, it would disappear as fast as you could turn it in, there is no one that has accountability for it once it is turned into guest services.

You did the right thing by keeping it, but I would get a hold of Royal to let them know if someone inquires about the missing money clip and can identify it, then I would only send it to the person who lost it.:D

  4. We had Indy 1706 this past January, and it is a very nice JS. You are up high enough to see above most of the steel super structure in the aft. The balcony is huge, but the only thing we missed was we had a side JS for our first week of our B2B and the walk in closet was much bigger, you could actually walk into it, as 1706 is pie shaped and it was smaller on the one end.

We cruised in January, so heat wasn't a problem, but it is covered from above so you don't get a lot of sun unless you are at the railing.

If you google Freedom, Liberty or Independence 1706, 1406, you will get a lot of pics and youtube videos of these cabins.

  5. We had a cabana this past January, and we had 7 in our group, when we got to our cabana we asked Horby, our attendant if that was OK and he said it was fine. We had another family of 4 that was travelling with us but wasn't sure about a cabana but came over to check it out and Horby gave them wrist bands also to attend the buffet. They dropped off their bags with us for safe keeping but didn't use the cabana. He got a nice tip from us all as he did a great job keeping us "hydrated" all day!!:D

  6. That was probably the best sail away party I have been to. I was shocked to see someone post a link to my video!!!

We have friends that are going on the Indy on December 1st, and since we went last year on a B2B, they came over and we gave them our cruise compasses and told them not to miss the sail away if there is a ship next to them in port and googled and your video came up. We seen the same thing in Costa Maya, but didn't have a camera with us when we came up on the top deck. He sure has a good time making fun of other ships that don't have all of the amenities that the Indy has! What time is your Ice Show..., that's right you don't have an Ice Show!!!:D:D:D

Great video, loved the older couple dancing on their balcony!

  7. I am wondering too since it's a bigger ship if I would have more of a chance getting a last minute balcony because there are more of them overall or it would lower my chances since it's probably in higher demand?

Our cruise at the end of January still has a lot of rooms left, and are hoping for a price drop so we can upgrade to maybe a Junior Suite. I've heard of some pretty nice deals closer to sail time for the Liberty!

  8. So the potential here is they cancel about 6 week cruises in Jan/Feb and replace with 2 12nt crossings TA and 2wk dry dock. If it goes to Rotterdam they will do the full works rather than have to repeat crossings the following year.

As for plants - I'm sure the cost to replace any of them will pale insignificant compared to dry dock and cruise reimburse costs!!

I'm sure they could put a temporary "roof" over central park to protect the plants and keep them heated if they needed to, would be pretty easy.

  9. We were looking at the same options, and we picked Liberty, as there is so much more to do on the Liberty then the Brilliance. Ice show, Flow rider, rock climbing wall, Saturday Night Fever in the theater, plus more pools, hot tubs and dining options made it a pretty easy decision.

We got cheap flights to Orlando, so we either had to go to Tampa, Port Canaveral or Ft. Lauderdale, and it was worth it to drive to FLL and get on the Liberty as we are so used to the larger ships, it would be hard to go back to a ship with less to offer than the Liberty has, even though the Brilliance is a beautiful ship and a great connection to the sea with all of the glass on the ship.:D

Good luck with your decision as you will have a great time no matter what ship you choose, everybody likes different things about what ship will make their vacation amazing!:D:D:D

  10. Actually the route of using the Oasis' dry dock slot would save RCCL the most money as no cruises would be disrupted. People that were going across the pond on the Oasis would go on the Allure, as long as she can keep the schedule, the Allure cruises would go on the Oasis and the same when the Oasis takes the Allure dry dock slot.

If they need to replace a pod on the Allure, I'm sure they will need plenty of time to get one built as I'm sure there isn't one of those azipods just laying around!

I'm sure they want to get the Allure fixed as soon as possible, but since it probably needs to go to a dry dock that can fit this size of ship, their options are limited, so the option of using the Oasis dry dock schedule might be their best option.

This is just an opinion of a regular cruiser, not a professional ship repairman!:eek::D

  11. We have been on the Independence three times and love this class of ships. There is so much to do on these ships and since Liberty has been upgraded even more then what the Indy had to offer, that's why we booked a Liberty cruise for this upcoming January. We have been on the Allure and it is a great ship, but I didn't like all the reservations you needed to make to attend the shows and events, where the Liberty, you just need to have ice show reservations.

    Have a great time!:D
