  1. Arriving on a Saturday -  need to get to Heathrow for 12:40 BA flight.  Looking for reliable private transport or taxi.  Recommendations are welcome.  Also disembarkation at Southampton. - easy, quick, long lines?????  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks,

  2. We cruise on Celebrity a few times a year and I've always used my Verizon wireless service while on board to text back to the states and Canada for .50 to send and .05 to receive. Verizon wireless says that they no longer have service with Celebrity. Does anyone know if Celebrity is using their own system now or has a private deal with another carrier?

    Thanks.

  3. Appreciate your follow-up and kind comments. Glad to be of help!! Let us know any added questions or needs. Russia has amazing history, architecture, crafts and background. Do your homework in advance to better understand all of the excellent sites and sights you will be experiencing.

Everyone wants to save money and/or not spend too much. BUT, the worst kind of "economy" is to lose perspective on your overall, total budget. You are spending lots on the flights, cruise, etc. Do not pinch pennies too much that you miss the "greatness" that is there in Russia and the Baltics.

    THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio

From our Jan. 25-Feb. 20, 2015, Amazon River-Caribbean combo sailing over 26 days that started in Barbados, here is the link below to that live/blog. Lots of great visuals from this amazing Brazil river and these various Caribbean Islands (Dutch ABC's, St. Barts, Dominica, Grenada, etc.) that we experienced. Check it out at:

Thanks Terry! If it were just the two of us, we wouldn't really question the cost, like you we know that the experiences and the memories are forever things to treasure and the monetary aspects are easily forgotten. But we have 5 family members and two friends so a $10,000 -$12,000 is significant and would pay for a lot of college expenses. We have some time to figure it out, so it may well happen for all of us. I appreciate all of your insights and advice.

  4. We didn't go to Moscow on our last Baltic cruise, but hope to see it in June of 2016 on our next trip. Does anyone have any experience using the Saspan high speed train? It takes 3 1/2 hours downtown to downtown. I'm looking for an alternative to the ship's tours which are expensive, especially with 7 of us traveling! I know the risks of the ship leaving with out us etc. but am just looking for a viable option.

Any advice or suggestions would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks!

  5. I had been reading nothing but horror tales so was very apprehensive about going there. It was fine. The gold souk was not what I had anticipated. The Dubai Mall was incredible with the cleanest public restrooms I have ever seen in my life. The tram in Dubai is clean, easy and fast. We did the hop on hop off bus to get an overview of the area.

Now I'm even more excited about going!:)

  6. Yes, we took a cab but I don't remember how much it was. It was not a hassle at all. You may want to have the name and address of the hotel written out to show the cab driver. Don't be intimidated by all of the "stuff" that you read. UAE depends on tourists ad we were treated well at all times.

I appreciate hearing that it is a good experience as we have heard all of the horror tales!

  7. Just stayed at the JW Marriott in Diera. Nice and clean hotel with good service but overpriced restaurants.

Thanks so much for this information. Did you take a taxi from the airport? Was it difficult and could you give me an idea of how much it was?

I very much appreciate your help.

  8. We had photocopies of all of our prescriptions. We carried a limited amount of each drug in its labelled bottle. The one drug I use for fear of flying, and which was prohibited, I took in an extremely small amount. They didn't question anything.

For sharing that info with us. It is a big help.

  9. Easy answer, spend your money in a country which is more "user friendly."

Would love to, but our cruise leaves from there! There must be more to the restrictions than they say, as they are a very frequently visited place.
