I called the NCL air department directly and a representative named Kiera spoke to me.  Her response was that airline tickets through NCL are always issued with first and last names only.  She said that we did provide our full legal names to NCL and that our full legal names, including our middle names, were added to the "TSA line".  So TSA has a record of our full legal names for these flights, even though the tickets may show our first and last name only.

She assured me that I will not have any problems boarding my flights.  But, if for some reason I do have a problem.  Then this post on cruise critic is my proof that I did contact NCL.😊

Makes sense. I have PreTSA too and the info is already loaded into my airline bookings.
I tried to tell the NCL Rep that but she insisted that my TA had to call with any addition or “change” to the reservation. I’ll let my TA handle it.

NCL is paying my TA (not very much) to handle my reservations, not my questions or complaints.  If I wanted to upgrade my cabin, then yes I would call my TA to handle this.  For this issue it is so much easier (for me) to speak to NCL directly.

I DID end up calling NCL on this and they passed me off to my TA, advising that they need to handle any middle name additions to the reservation.

Idle curiosity.....why not spent three minutes to be sure?  Debate all you want about the why, contemplate the if, point to the “it hasn’t”, but a simple 3-5 minute call takes all that away.  I was standing in the security cue at Logan once upon a time not too long ago and watched someone lose it when denied access with a non real ID, while his wife kept saying I told you!  I guess my question for you is:  if NCL is telling you to do it this way, why not do it, more importantly, why do you seem to advise others to follow your lead?

Because NCL has NOT told me to do so in any sort of correspondence nor have they contacted my TA. All info is from being me being an online “research nerd”. I’ll likely cave in to the hysteria and have my TA do it to be on the safe side but think of the average cruiser. Most don’t peruse sites like this one and get this kind of data but yet they are granted access to their ship/flight.

WOW, i'm glad I saw this post. We sail on Sunday, but are flying in to New Orleans tomorrow (NCL air). I never got a letter or heard anything about the exact match. I had our NCL PCC add our middle names to everything this morning, but i'm worried about going to the airport tomorrow.

How do I find out if my airline tickets have my middle name? (Sorry if that's a dumb question)

Lol, you’ll be FINE. The panic that this has caused is just sad. THINK of all the folks who don’t have a middle name on their airline reservation but have it on their ID or passport. Have you heard stories of MASS amounts of folks denied access to their flight for this? Of course not. Enjoy your flight and cruise!

So, please test the system for us. Please change your name on your Encore reservation next week so it does not match your passport and report back to the group here if there was any issue with  you getting through check-in. If you make it through, we will have one data point.

    Enjoy your Encore cruise.

I don’t need to change anything. My Edocs do not contain a middle name (visible) but my passport and secured flight data do. I’m quite certain that I won’t have any problems. If THAT was an issue, 1/2 the passengers on the ship wouldn’t be allowed to board.

But,,, your very large travel agency is not the minimum wage check-in clerk working for the local port agent (not NCL) who has a set of rules to follow before they can check you in. You can waive the paper with the guidance at the ship as it pulls away from the port without you. Your emphasis should be the direction from the cruise line, not some third party TA or the cruise critic experts here tell you. Just saying....

So please show me the long list of passengers who have complained about being denied boarding (and have missed their cruise) by said “minimum wage check-in clerk working for the local port agent” for not having a middle name attached to their Edocs....I’ll wait....

We are sailing on the getaway. We just recieved our flight info today and we are about 59 days out.

Home Departure City - PVD Providence RI

Arrival/Destination City - MSY NEw Orleans

Airline(s) used - United and American

Number of Connections - 1 each way

    Outbound Flight departure/arrival time - 12PM-5:20PM

    Return Flight departure/arrival time - 11AM-6:05PM

I only saw our flight info because out edocs are ready. Will Ncl send me an email with the flight info so I can pay the fee for our luggage?

    Thank you

    Danielle

Yes. It will have the specific airline reservation/ticket number. You can then go online to the airline’s website and choose seats, upgrade, enter pre TSA info etc, maybe pay for luggage (but you can do that at the gate too).

Thanks again to everyone on this thread who provided ticketing and seating information and calmed my nerves.

Finished entering check-in documents yesterday, day 52 to go, and the ticket information was available on the e-docs.   The ticket locator wasn't valid, likely a placeholder but I called NCL, no wait, and received the valid ticket locator.

Flights aren't the best but the price was right as we were hitting against Miami pre-Super Bowl events so ticket prices were unusually high.

Direct flights -- 6:43 am going and 8pm return.   Seats were available together although return wasn't ticketed as seated together.   Both trips, seats were in the back of the plane.    Upgraded online to more room ($135 total) as it is closer to front as DM is older and will use wheelchair assistance to the plane but walk on board.

Based on another posting, I added my middle name to NCL reservation but it didn't make it to the air reservation and won't match my Pre-check.  AA doesn't allow a name change online but will wait until after the holiday, as I have time and the airlines reservations staff need to assist all the Thanksgiving travelers impacted by the nasty weather occurring.

    Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Cruising

Just go on to the AA website, find your Rez, and add your PreTsa number to your info. As long as first and last name are accurate, you’ll be fine

For those of you sailing Encore from Miami in December & January, please help the rest of us who will soon be able to book our shows & dinners.

What nights and times did you see Kinky Boots available to book?

What nights and times did you see Choir of Man available to book?

And a question we may not know until those first ones cruise-   Will Onda be a replacement for La Cucina as a Platinum dinner choice?

We are going in Jan and hit the 120 day window. I had all kinds of trouble booking with the app so I had my TA call and do it for me. TA booked both shows on Day 2 and 6. Also booked three specialty restaurants.

No sure on Onda question. We weren’t interested in Italian.

Actually, you may not need to contact the airline.

We recently booked air travel through a different cruise line, and found that the airline involved which was not one we use, had us as TSA pre-check on the boarding passes.

Of course, as we both were placed in the TSA pre-check  program due to past government work security clearances this may not always hold true (Let the usual poster that always screams that being in the TSA pre-check program is not possible without a specific program application  now post to say I am wrong....)

I’ve done some research on Pre TSA. For NOW, you are correct. You actually can get Pre TSA without going through the $85 program. That should be changing soon. There is a bill that is awaiting senate approval that would require anybody using Pre TSA to be approved through fingerprint/photograph and background check ($85 program).

Be prepared to have them assign you overnight flights or strange itineraries.

We booked a January cruise with a flight from Phoenix to Orlando. The first leg of our flight had us connecting in Minneapolis. Not only is that WAY out of the way, but flying to Minneapolis in the middle of blizzard season really makes no sense.

    We ended up canceling...

Looking at your icon, I bet the booking agent from NCL is a Vikings fan with a sense of humor...🤣🤣

Do you know what happens when you fail to exercise your body? Your body deteriorates.

Do you know what happens when you fail to exercise your rights? Your rights deteriorate.

This is not a political forum, so I am holding back, but your "if you aren't doing anything wrong," attitude is anti-American. I cruise to get away from the police state; I don't need it at sea. By all means, sniff all my stuff going on and off the ship, but keep your police state off my ship. Please.

Not wanting security theater at sea does not make one a drug user.

"Police State" "Security Theater" LOL. How do you even know that the officer and K9 were there for drugs? Could have been a bomb/explosives sniffing dog routine sweep as a anti-terrorism security measure?  They are onboard to ensure your safety not to take away your rights. You DO have a RIGHT to stay home and not go on a cruise if you're afraid of a law enforcement officer and K9 partner walking through a ship's hallway. It is NOT "your" ship. It is owned by NCL and the safety of the crew and passengers are their responsibility. I'm glad they take it seriously.

    Well, dogs aren't creepy. Lol...

Seeing a cop in full garb wandering the cabin hallways with a dog, though? I'd find it a bit disconcerting. We'll find out on Friday - off to the Caribbean on the Jade!!

"Disconcerting"? Maybe if I was carrying illegal drugs I'd find it disconcerting. Personally, I find it comforting that NCL would utilize law enforcement/K9.

So you aren’t allowed ask about things anymore.

to be frank I’m sick of hearing people, on so many topics, get told by others that cruising may not be for them. Same as attacks on people asking about various types of drinks or bottled water.

i recently asked about Canera brands on a particular line and got similar responses from some, sure the ship not selling the camera I was after wasn’t going to destroy my cruise, but with all the oBC I had it would have been nice.

Why did you quote me? It was “100th Meridian” who remarked about cruising not being right for them. I happen to agree with YOU.

If you are concerned about available tv stations when you go on vacation, cruising probably isn’t a good idea. Considering your experience with cruising and reading boards i’m surprised  you didn’t know it ahead of time.

NCL’s decision on not having ESPN  in their tv lineup has little to do with that Disney owns it and more about the $$$.

C’mon now. If you’re concerned about the internet, coke or Pepsi, type of beer, sparkling wine in your room, food at the buffet, etc etc, does that mean “cruising probably isn’t a good idea” also? It’s a nice perk to be able to catch your favorite team/sport on TV for a bit while on vacation. For what it costs to cruise, I don’t think this is too much to ask from the cruise line. Thankfully, from what I read here, NCL DOES show many of the popular “American” sports on TV on most of their ships. Good to hear!

I’ll be on the Encore in January 2020 and hoping to catch some hoops while sipping on my favorite adult beverage!

  16. 14 minutes ago, BirdTravels said:

NCL has never had American ESPN in rooms. There was no decision to change anything. You are not in South Carolina anymore Toto. And the cruise line caters to their international clientele. They went from cheap chocolates that everyone threw in the trash to a bottle of sparkling wine.

"The cruise line caters to their international clientele"? LOL. Really? A great majority of NCL customers are American. The restaurants, games, promotions, etc cater squarely to American clientele. I don't go on a cruise to watch television but the OP is right in criticizing NCL for their lack of American football, basketball, or baseball on TV, particularly at the bars. Not sure about the other ships but the Getaway had nothing but soccer on for the whole week last August. I asked the bartenders about it (O'Sheehans) and they just shrugged their shoulders and said that that is all they have.

Did book this promotion for 2/2020 cruise. Saved about $500 over searches last week for same cruise.

Mostly saved from 3rd sails free.

Was supposed to get all 6, but they only gave 5? Not giving ports credits? Not really needed, but?

    FREE AIR? What a joke!

$600 per from Detroit to Orlando. $900 to Tampa? Same prices for Miami and NO.

We normally pay $200-300 per and that's school vacation week.

It’s weird how those airfare promo amounts differ. The offer I got from NCL was $99 RT Minneapolis to Miami. (January 2020). That’s a nice little saviings
