  1. We were on 1/28-3/3. Spa pool closed for first 3 cruises except for 2 1/2 days. We spoke with an officer, as did others. First it closed for days, then painted, then we were told it was the filter, then we were told there was a leak in the pool. Then hubby and I went to front desk and spoke with Officer Andreay and he told us bunch of BS....can't fill the pool when the ship is moving in the front...what? didn't buy that....then he said well it costs too much to fill the water in the pool....after that we complained to someone who could fix problem. Each day they let me know pool was open.
Thanks everyone for the input. I hope we have calm seas and the pool stays open. My DH has a bad back and canno t sit in the regular chairs.

  2. Unfortunately the cruise is over and I'm back home watching the cruise ships leave out of the Port of Miami. :(

There were things about the cruise that were fantastic, things that were good and things that were not good.

    Fantastic:

The majority of the crew were just fantastic. Corey is a very lively Cd and I really enjoyed anything he was doing. I also like having the wheelhouse bar and Explorer's lounge back. These are just better venues for trivia and shows than Princess Live on the Regal. Once again, they seem to always put such great bartenders at Crooner's. They really do know how to make being there fun!

We met some great people on this sailing and had lots of fun.

Embarkation was painless and we were one of the first on board. We left out of Terminal 4 which I had never been in before. Disembarkation this morning was also very easy.

    Good:

The food. Our embarkation lunch in the MDR was excellent. Our first meal in the Crown Grill was excellent as was the service. Our meal last night in The Crown Grill was good, but my filet was very dry this time around. Still really enjoyed it. Really enjoyed our meal at the Salty Dog.

Pizza up on deck is just strange. The cheese almost sticks to the roof of your mouth. It kind of tasted like there was a "cream cheese" type of substance. I also don't get how a newly cooked burger can be so dry. Hey, I didn't have to cook for 5 days so it's all good!!

    Not good:

Our cabin and our cabin steward. He had to be the worst that we have ever had. I actually don't think we ever had not had a cabin steward that was great. As I had posted, what our cabin looked like when we arrived took us by surprise. Dust, Dark curly hair all over, black in the toilet, dirty mirrors etc. The phone looks like it hasn't been wiped down in forever. We dropped something and had to lift the beds, yikes!! The top sheet that I requested was a ripped sheet and some of the towels were torn. This is not the Princess that I know and love.....

The steward didn't return all of our laundry we sent out. He actually went to argue with us last night and said we didn't have anything downstairs. I asked him to please check again because we had 3 pairs of shorts that were not returned. Everything else was packed but I waited to put out the suitcases because I needed my cleaning back. Went to dinner and came back upstairs and lo and behold....there are my 3 shorts hanging by themselves in the closet!!

The arm on the leather chair was all cracked, there is white paint all over the deck furniture and we just felt like the place was just not clean. I've never had a situation like that.

The Sanctuary was okay. It is quite surprising the difference between the Regal and the Crown in the level of care you are given up there. Many of the Sanctuary towels placed on the loungers were stained and had pulls everywhere. You wanted water, you had to go get it yourself. There were never enough people working up there so everyone always gave us and went and got their own drinks, own glasses of water and own towels. The one day that the couple demanded their money back because they were so frustrated, the crew simply straightened up the towels that were on the lounge for someone else to use. This couple had swam and it was hot and they had used the loungers for a while. Just gross that the crew didn't strip the loungers.

People kept walking in and just sitting down. It would sometimes take awhile before crew noticed people that didn't pay were using the loungers.

AC, the temperature in our cabin was not good. Last night was another hot night. We also had warm water, no mater what we did the faucet would not give us cold water.

We had a wonderful vacation. I love being out at sea and really enjoyed myself. But for the first time, I was ready to get off the ship.

    What deck were you on

  3. Yes it’s open and full. Doors to the spa are open. Spa staff is not nice as reported.

Our room leaves a bit to be desired. I have never gotten into a room that wasn’t perfectly clean. This room is so not. Hair on tables. Phone is filthy. A dirty card saying not to flush anything down was lots knows where. It’s bent and stained yellow! This is a first for us.

The floor on one side of the bed is like there is a piece of plywood under it. It’s moves and makes a lot of noise.

Bucket chair has a cracked arm chair but I know it’s getting changed out. We have white paint all over our balcony furniture.

Not sure about the mattress yet!

Waving to our goods friends on their balcony on the regal and kindness of wishing I was over there.....

What room r u in? I've never seen a room like that. Glad to see that the pool is open

  4. On board the Crown for 5 nights! Check in was a breeze. First on board and got our sanctuary seats for the sea days.

Finishing lunch in the main dining room and wow, was a difference from our lunch in December on the Regal. Excellent! My husband said the salmon was one of the best he has ever had.

And happy to report they now have Corona on board! I’m a happy camper!

Is the lotus pool open? I've read there were some problems with it.

  5. I got upgraded from an interior on deck 6 to an interior deck 8. I kept checking the rates to see if I could get a better rate. Wound up saving $500. Got bored and decided to check prices again an found that I could get a balcony on deck 6 for the same price as the interior on deck 8. I hope it was a good upgrade. I've heard that you can smell the smoke from the casino on deck 6. So keep checking the rates and call your pop and see what they can do for you.

  6. Can anyone tell me how this really works. I just went to Carnival and went through the booking process as a past guest (I am a VIFP), I then went through the booking progress as if I had never cruised before and the exact ship, floor, cabin was the same exact price. Just wondering where the upgrade really comes in.

  7. We will be celebrating our 20th Wedding Anniversary during my first ever cruise on the Sea Princess departing Brisbane on June 1st.

I will be in Lifou New Caledonia on the day of our Anniversary and will probably do a 3 hour tour (I take it that will get me back on the Sea Prinny by Lunch

I will be in a Mini Suite (so balcony dining is an option) and would appreciate some suggestions for a romantic afternoon and evening especially the dinner

I am sure there will be a few CC members who have celebrated their 20th WA and made their wife (partner) the happiest person ever whilst on a cruise :D

Try a couples massage followed by the UBD.

  8. Because of the fantastic post from Caribill, we are looking into doing a 5-day land tour next year, eliminating Fairbanks.

We would like to go late May. I've seen photos and it looks like the foliage in Denali is green early in the season. I'm thinking there may be more wildlife early in the season because there will be more stuff for them to eat (:)).

Can anyone give me detailed info on Denai and the full stay Wilderness tour?

Thanks so much, especially you, Caribill~:D

    Hi,

My DH and I took the 6 day connissour this past July. He was unable to take this tour due to back problems. If you have back problems don't do the 8 hour tour into Denali. I did it and it was brutal and I don't have back problems. 8 hours on a school bus with a so so box lunch. Other posters said to take the first bus into the park (it is real early) because the buses scare the wildlife away. I tried to get on this bus but our tour director couldn't or wouldn't arrange it. This tour was very boring (i'm sure others would disagree) we saw little in the way of wildlife and it was far away. The month of May should be different that July. Remember to consider your health situation this tour is rough.
