  1. We rented a mini-van from Avis in FLL and returned to the Miami location on SE 2nd Street. Took over 2 hrs to return with many in line and hardly any assistance from Avis staff.

After cruise we rented from Budget next door to Avis in Miami and returned the minivan to FLL. We took a cab to rental office from the POM and walked up to counter and was in rental car in less than ten minutes. Budget and Avis share shuttle vehicles and pickup from several ships in port, so it is best to pay $20 for quick cab ride to avoid delays. Budget staff was far more responsive than Avis.

We also rented our minivans thru Costco and avoided charge for additional drivers.

  2. Has anyone taken the Stromma (green) HOHO Boat from Langelinie?

    http://www.stromma.dk/en/copenhagen/sightseeing/sightseeing-by-boat/hop-on-hop-off-boat/

Our ship docks there (Silhouette on 9/1) and it looks like the HOHO boats stop right there on the south end of the pier.

Can you buy tickets on that pier (like at a booth or on the boat)? At roughly US$14 it looks like an easy way to get to some of the attractions near the water and reduce some of the walking.

We were on the Stromma HOHO bus today and it made two stops for cruise ship passengers at Langelinie piers when doing the Mermaid loop.

  3. I just checked my Amex account online. The charge for my husband's reciprocity fee has posted, and Amex was charged 1569.60 ARS. At the time I paid this the evening of Dec. 15th, http://www.xe.com said the conversion rate was a few cents over $160 US. However, what posted to our Amex account today was $113.33! I expect the charge for my reciprocity fee will be similar when it posts.

I just paid little over $160 USD pp for our reciprocity fees. Looks like they have adjusted the ARS rate. You got a real deal. Good Timing.☺

  4. :) We enjoyed cruising in Cabin E425 on the Regal last year from Venice to FLL. Cabins 409-425 (and ones on other side) are one of the "hidden secrets" of the Regal and Royal. Absolutely no obstructions out to sea, no view from the sky walk into your balcony and a balcony that is much larger most all others. The upper level balconies under the sky walk are very visible to those looking down through the glass, but the balconies on the two lowest levels are totally hidden.

Here is a link to some photos of the E425 balcony and its views, plus view from the deck 7 below and views from the skywalk(that we took when on the Royal in 2013).

These obstructed view cabins are indeed a GOOD CHOICE that you will certainly enjoy and indeed a GREAT VALUE balcony cabin.

  5. Thanks to KruzPrincess for guiding me here to this thread. This link and the other links within have been very helpful. I was looking for pics of Royal room E504, to no avail. But from what I can tell my view IS going to be obstructed by a lifeboat and that's just unacceptable for my honeymoon. I did ask for the midship area because I tend to get motion sick very easily. But it does point I'm just going to have to deal with it....or pay more I guess

The E409 to E425 are totally unobstructed midship balcony cabins at the lowest price. Sent earlier posting for link to photos. Would be perfect honeymoon location.

  6. Can anyone share their experience on E deck mid ship with the balcony cabins that are below the protruding glass walkway? On the port side, these are cabins 409 - 425. I booked one of these because there are no lifeboats below, but it does appear to have a deck area for walking on deck 7 below. Was this cabin a good choice? Obviously, the price was right so we selected it, but will it be worth the savings?

When I went to log on to post this, I discovered that I forgot to log off from an earlier session on my IPad. Yup, you guessed it, I lost about 9 hours of minutes because of my transgression. Oh well, such is life.

    More Later.....:):):)

    Bob,

Go talk to the Internet Manager and explain your mishap and usually they will reinstate your 'lost time'.

Enjoying your posts to date and sure wish we were on-board with you.

  8. Definitely go to mass at St. Marks! It was wonderful and even though I don't speak Italian I was able to follow along. Be aware that large backpacks are not allowed inside. Small/medium purses are ok. Enjoy Venizia!

Go to the morning mass and enter on door on left side of St Mark's and avoid long lines and stay to visit inside after mass.

  9. Attached are some photos of E408 which is next door to E406 (on opposite side) which is representative of the cabin size. I will post additional photos of the balcony shots of E404 which illustrates the views from E406/E405. E405 and E406 have clear views out and down.

Here are some additional photos for E408 that I forgot to include. One of the photos shows the view looking UP from the balcony at the Skywalk.

  10. We are on the Star heading to Hawaii and searching also. Grand and cargo ship are off to starboard in pattern. Star captain will give us up date at 6 pm tonight. Likely to miss Lahina.

Many on board have eyes to sea searching.

  11. We will be in Venice in October and are thinking of attending Mass at St. Marks on a weekday morning (there appears to be a sung mass at 9am). I was wondering if any CCers have done this. If so, any advice? We know that dress must be appropriate, but have never attended services in Italy. (have done so in UK, France and Russia without incident).

I asked this question on our roll call, but there was no response. Hoping someone on this forum can help.

    Jack,

Here is the mass schedule at St Marks from the Basilica website. We were there in June and attended early mass before it was open to public, and then stayed to view the Basilica before the crowds came in. The entrance is on the left hand side of the Basillica as you face it from the front. It is a non assuming entrance - there will be someone standing there. Just have your legs and shoulders covered. Casual clothing is acceptable.

The holy masses celebrated in the basilica are free of charge and you do not have to make a reservation as for the visits.

The entrance is from the Porta dei Fiori (north façade) in the Piazzetta dei Leoncini.

    Weekdays

07:00 a.m.; 08:00 a.m.; 09:00 a.m.(Sung Mass of the Charter of the Canons preceded by the celebration of the praises); 10:00 a.m. (in baptistery); 11:00 a.m.; 12:00 (suspended in the months of July and August); 06:45 p.m. (preceded by the celebration of Vespers and the rosary).

The 06:45 p.m. Mass is the first of the Sunday/holiday Masses on Saturdays and days preceding holidays

    Sundays and holidays

07:00 a.m.; 08:00 a.m.; 09:00 a.m.; 10:30 a.m. (Sung Mass with brief remarks in various languages, St. Mark's Chapel); 12:00; 05:30 p.m. (Celebration of Vespers and Madonna Nicopeia procession with the chant of the litanies); 06:45 p.m..

The 6:45 p.m. evening Mass is often animated by foreign choirs passing through Venice.

  12. Can this vibration be felt on all decks aft? (Caribe in particular)

I would think so. It really shook the walls of our room (E737) and next door neighbors. It was really concerning during the first two evenings when ship was running at 20+ knots. Sound like something was ready to fall apart. We usually book full aft cabins on Princess ships and NEVER felt or heard noises like this on the Coral.

A search of the Princess board for CORAL AFT VIBRATION may help answer.

This thread Aft rooms on the Coral Princess has several post that mention the vibration. Very nice photo with view from shore of all aft viewing decks is in the message thread.

  13. We recently enjoyed two weeks during a full transit of the Panama Canal on the Coral Princess in cabin E737 which is the last starboard balcony cabin that wraps around to Emerald aft deck. The door to this very secluded public aft deck was right outside our state room door. We spent most of the day transiting the Canal on this aft deck or our stateroom balcony. Awesome location for viewing canal, leaving port, sunrises, sunsets, and viewing glaciers (the ship usually rotates).

Unfortunately the aft cabins to the rear of the last elevators on the Coral experience severe vibrations when the Coral exceeds 13 to 15 knots, and when using the rear side thrusters during docking. During the first two days of our cruise when the ship was averaging close to 20 knots, the noise and shaking was very uncomfortable and felt like the ship was about to fall apart, and several requested to be moved, but the ship was full. Apparently the vibration is caused by the propeller back wash.

Attached are some photos of the rear of the Coral showing all of the aft decks, the Emerald aft deck, and the door leading to the aft deck.
