  1. Hello! Does anyone have recommendations for fishing in Catalina? Specifically, where can my people find someone to take them out in a boat fishing? They do see the big charters advertising online, but they are also interested in the possibility of finding someone with a boat when they get there that could still provide the gear and license, but for less than the prices of the big charters companies

Does anyone have experience with finding such a fishing provider while docked in Catalina?

  2. Norwegian Joy embarkation San Pedro pier 92 Feb 5, 2023

Thought I would provide an update. For our cruise embarkation we arrived at 10:45am and lined up. We waited outside under a tent for about an hour. By the time the line moved, when we got outside, we saw rows and rows of people lined up in the mild sun. We heard  through the grapevine that NCL had had computer problems. Once the line moved, we sped through check in and got right on the ship. We were fairly near the front of the line, though, so not sure how long it took all the people behind us.

    Had a great cruise.

You have to make reservations for the main shows but the other shows you do not. The theater has been very crowded so I recommend you make reservations for the ones you can and arrive early for the ones you can’t

Thank you so much. Did the wall units work for making reservations, or the ap, or do you have to go to a box office?

my last few cruises you  could NOT book/reserve entertainment period (main entertainment).  It was all open seating.

Oh, this would be great. I waited in a very long line once to book shows on Breakaway. The ap wasn't working, neither were the touchscreens onboard.

I don't mind waiting in line to get ON the ship, but once aboard I've got better things to do! 💕

  5. Hello!

I am having difficulty reserving specialty restaurants and shows for our Feb 5 sailing of Norwegian Joy. Maybe it is because of the late date. We usually book our cruises well in advance and this is short notice.

I see in the list of perks a concierge for our platinum level. Have you had luck asking this person to make such reservations once onboard?

Do they have a physical office where you can talk to them, or would you just have to test your luck at getting through by phone?

We have one dinner from free at sea, two from platinum, and two shows to book.

Also, can we book show times for others in our party so we don't have to all make them separately?

Thank you for any assistance you can provide

I stayed up so I could check-in right when they opened the check-in process. I filled out all the sections except for our photos. We got the 9:00-9:30 check-in time.

We got our notification everything was accepted, and our check-in time was 9-9:30. A few days later, I go and put our photos in and it showed the check-in time was highlighted and it said 12:00-12:30 and later was the only option to pick. EVERYTHING I HAD BOOKED WHEN IT OPENED FOR CHECK-IN WAS GONE. I called NCL and they told me, yes, anytime you edit the check-in it goes back to checking in all over again. We just returned from a cruise on Royal Caribbean and I checked in our information just like I did with NCL and put our photos in later. Royal saved all the information and I could edit the photos with no problems and NOT losing our check-in time. Needless-to-say, I AM PRETTY UPSET this happened....especially since I stayed up after 12:00 AM so I could check-in for the early time. Hope no one else has this same problem. We have been cruising for many years (55+ cruises) and this one will be our 5th one this year. Booking check-in times are since COVID but this is the first time I've had these issues. NCL needs to revamp their check-in process in my option.

Thank you for sharing this information. For some people, especially those traveling in groups with rule-stickler/worrying members, having one of the group's check in times that they got up early to get be changed could be stressful.

Now I can try to avoid it or manage expectations.

  7. Hello,

    Quick question (I hope).

I read in an article regarding princess's drink package that both passengers in a cabin do not have to purchase it if only one wants it.

Is this true? I am under the impression that it is both or none.

    Thank you

Ps I am on hold with princess to ask this question, but it's been a long time. Even after a search of this board and waiting, I think cruise critic members will come through first and more correct!
