My understanding was that only a couple of items on the dinner menu are extra charge.
When I was on Oasis dinner at the solarium was as free as the main dining room and it was empty.

Watch this video skip to 11 minutes that is why the funnels are raised. same result if lowered. I’m just shocked and don’t think this possible. BTW 236.2 of qm2 measurement also includes her draft.

Did it make the news when the Adventure (3,000 pax) was replaced by Liberty (4,000 pax) which was replaced by Anthem (5,000 pax)?
You seem less than enthusiastic that Oasis is within driving distance. Why?
I’m happy but I’ve already been on her she’s a great ship. It made the news when oasis went to pc. Anthem made the news. But why would they wait 10 years?

i think Royal knows what it needs to do to operate Oasis out of Bayonne. I think the itinerary sucks though.
Yes, there has been zero reports of the impact and planning for this ship prior to this announcement.

Let's just face it; we are just a bunch of dopes who take cruises. Royal Caribbean is a 30 billion dollar company with 70,000 employees. I can pretty much guarantee they have crossed all the t's and dotted all the i's even though they haven't sent personal messages about their deliberations, research and planning to us dopes.
You always here about the negotiations for oasis new homeport not here. They’ve done their research, but why would this kind of event be different. Oasis ain’t any old cruise ship requires lots of planning especially in new york.

Is Stamford as beautiful and gorgeous as Bayonne?
Yes, it is and It is directly connected to grand central.

Is it smaller?
they both appear to be bigger and both were built with mega-ships in mind. Bayonne’s only a little bit smaller, but with royal caribbean’s new check in system it could work. The problem I have with RC saying the oasis is going to bayonne is not hearing of any agreements or changes considering oasis to be certified to go to bayonne.

How do you know they weren't thinking of bringing an Oasis class ship to Port Liberty when they designed it?
is it bigger than terminal 1 port canaveral or terminal 18 port everglades?
-
I don’t see it on cnn the only thing I saw about a cruise ship is cocaine smuggling and top new cruise ships for 2019.

Boston would need the infrastructure to handle Oasis type passenger numbers.
How did cape liberty operate 5 years and before that with just tents. They had freedom class ships with just tents. I’m amussuming the current terminal can accommodate the load. What are the requirements for oasis anyway. Cape liberty was not designed for oasis, so what separates it and allows it to accommodate 1,000 more passengers.

They would cancel all of the sailings from lovely Bayonne and move Oasis back to Florida.
Would they consider moving the sailings to boston? where there is no restriction?

Kinda hard to test something that doesn't exist - the retraction function is supposed to be subject of her dry dock fall 2019.
Why would royal schedule the ship going under a bridge before proving the technology for the use? What would royal do if the tech was not approved for regular operation?

They wouldn’t release an entire season worth of itineraries if it wasn’t a done deal.
Why wouldn’t this make the news about the approvals. Why didn’t they announce that this would be happening. We should’ve heard something before this. I don’t know why they would release the itineraries, but why was there no headlines of a deal bringing this ship to ny harbor. why would there be know headlines about the regular lowering of funnels and sea trials of how the constant operation under bridges puts on the ship.

Why do you think that they have not thought this through. I’m sure that they have spent the last 6-12 months planning this
Then why wasn’t this ever in the news before this last week, wouldn’t someone reported a community board hearing about the extra traffic oasis creates. There was no report on any special approvals for the oasis to go to bayonne. they have thought this through, but why didn’t we hear any news on this till now because of the special approvals required for this class are needed to operate with funnel retracted.

I would think so. It seems to be a done deal, she's coming to Bayonne
If it’s a done deal then why did we not hear any confirmation or talks about this in the headlines and certification. This is a big deal to announce that the largest class of ships is coming to bayonne. Usually the ports build terminals for this type of ship. Wouldn’t they need approval from city council for the extra traffic. How come we didn’t here anything about the approvals needed.
-
is the cape liberty cruiseport equipped for extra passenger traffic? Will the smoke be away from the passengers when the funnel is lowered as designed? Royal should be sure before they made this decision.

Did they get official approval to bring oasis to New York Harbor with approval to go under the bridge? Have they tested the funnel retraction to the point that it’s safe to use for normal operation and not ferrying?
-
It’s weird that the oasis will be calling at it’s old homeport port canaveral.
-
Just because the smoke stacks are efficient and can be lowered wouldn’t they need approval for regular operation lowering the smoke stacks from the coast guard for safety. The original lowering mechanism was designed as a one time use. Royal Caribbean would stop going to bar harbor and newport. I feel they would need to get lots of approvals for lowering the smoke stacks regularly

Can we PLEASE stop talking about Stamford!!!
I didn’t specifically mention stamford in that post that was just a wrap up of the possibility of the oasis class in the new york area.

Granted, the whole cruise port in the Stamford is far-fetched but speculating about it was fun....even if the conversation did last 20 or 30 posts too long.
That’s to prove that oasis doesn’t belong in ny without doing something crazy

The differences are a bit of a mixed bag. I think seating in the WJ is about the same as the Enchantment has a little covered extension on the port side running aft from the stairs that probably makes the ratio of WJ seats to beds about equal between the 2 ships. I think the serving areas on the Grandeur are somewhat less crowded but not by a whole lot. It looks like they are also trying a few things to speed up service. I noticed in the morning that the omelet station they had a waiter taking orders and passing them to the cooks to make the process a bit more efficient. I haven't had an omelet yet but will tomorrow.
I think the biggest difference was in the Theater. It isn't super roomy but my impression is significantly less crowded than it was on Enchantment.
Roy
I 2005 enchantment was cut up and extension was put including the areas you’re talking about.
