  1. If someone that is Elite goes with me to help me purchase something in the jewelry store can they just show there card and coupon and I have it charged on my card or will they have to have it charged to there account and I pay them for the purchase?

    Thanks!

    Tom:)

Not too sure about this; but if a purchase is over a certain $ amount, Customs is notified and the purchase must be declared.

So, the Black Card person would have a Customs notification on his record.

As I say, not too sure about this.

  2. Off topic, but related scam. I had a phone call a few days ago. Very excited person with SE Asian accent: " You have a problem with windows!" I patiently explained to him that we had recently had all of our windows washed and I was sure that they were fine. He tried to convince me that he knew of a problem I hadn't detected, but I assured him that my window washers are quite professional, and offered to give him their name and address. He hung up. I later checked my computer (iMac) and tablet (iPad) and phone ( iPhone), and confirmed that none of them had been transmogrified into Windows machines. He must have confused me with someone else.

Get those same calls about 2/3 times a month also from Bangladesh.

Tell them the same as you do, just to "stroke" them.

They really can't figure out when they tell me to "right click" my mouse

and I tell them that I can not do it because it bites me when I "right click".

  3. What else would they do? Charge you? How much?

    Thanks for your help! :D

    So, my question is:

How much would I pay for the Overweight Carry-On?

Apologize for taking so long to fully answering your question.

Was travelling for a few days.

The CA said the charge would be $50.00.

    I asked: USDs? NZDs?

    He said NZDs.

Removed the bag -- No problem, at the Counter, on weight then.

  4. Qantas DOES enforce its carry-on weight limit.

Two years ago, I was flying AKL/LAX.

My carry-on weighed 8kg; weight limit is 7kg.

My bag was weighed at the Counter and was deemed as over weight.

I had a bag, containing souvenirs, in my carry-on.

So, removed the bag and was with in the weight limit.

After I cleared Security, I put the souvenirs back into my carry-on.

I was stopped as I walked to my gate and had to remove the souvenirs again at another weight check.

    I'm confused.

I don't understand what you did with your "bag of souvenirs." You were still carrying them. Did you put them under your coat or in coat pockets? 1 kg. Jeez, what are they thinking? What else would they do? Charge you? How much?

    Thanks for your help! :D

Yes -- I would have been charged a "fee" for my over weight carry-on.

The Counter Agent was just doing his job; I have no complaint.

    Rules are rules.

Beside my checked luggage, all that I had was my carry-on.

I just removed the souvenirs to be with in the weight limit.

I carried the bag, as a separate item, through Security.

As I said, after Security, I put the souvenirs back into my carry-on.

Didn't realize that there was a secondary weigh station in the Concourse.

Was stopped again. Guess that they saw me putting the bag back into my carry-on.

At the Gate, I noticed that there was no further weight screening.

So, I put bag back into my carry-on.

  5. Have an upcoming flight from Syd-LAX on Qantas, their website states carry on bag, 15 lb. limit. Does anyone have experience with Qantas or other airlines that have a carry on weight restriction? Do they weigh carry-ons when you check in, at the gate, or not at all??

Be prepared to follow the weight and size restrictions provided by Qantas. They are not a suggestion but rather a rule that could be enforced at any check in or gate check.

  6. If you don't or won't fly then obviously there are huge limitations on where you can cruise to. So, in an idle moment I thought about how you could do it.

I knew some folks who lived in the UK and wanted to travel.

However, the DW was afraid to fly.

They travelled most of the World on the Orient Express.

Took the Train to main land Europe and then boarded the Orient Express.

    Just a thought.

  7. We will be on a b2b and our status will change after the first cruise from ruby to the next level. Will this be reflected on the 2nd cruise so that we will receive a new cruise card? And will this matter as far as any benefits on the 2nd cruise? Thanks.

On all of the B2Bs that I have taken, I was issued a new Card for the second Cruise.

My Cruise count was the same on each card.

My Folio for the first Cruise was closed out.

Any OBCs left over from the first Cruise were carried over.

Probably, because each Cruise is treated financially separately by Princess.

  8. We will be on the Grand in Feb. for a 10 day to Mexico, does anyone know what nights are the formal nights. It will be Valentines week.

Probably Feb 14th and Feb 22nd.

    Have a great Cruise.

  9. I am unfortunately always a little suspicious of a first timer complaining

    complainers.jpg

I think that this OP makes a habit on getting new screen names and then posting various complaints.

Have seen several posts lately from first time posters that sound all too familiar.

  10. Haven't been on princess in years

    What is their smoking policy?

Can you smoke on your balcony & where on the Regal is it allowed?

    Thank you

    Cinnamon123

Smoking is not allowed on your Balcony.

    Smoking areas on the Royal/Regal.

  11. Thank you! THAT made me feel much better....she doesn't smoke that much...but she's also somewhat challenged by walking long distances and the room she's in now D315 is close to elevator. So unless deck plans are wrong she would only have to hop on, go down 3 floors and from what I can see Churchills is just off the elevators. Is that correct?

Yes -- Churchills is very close to the Forward Elevators

  12. Saw two couples denied boarding in FLL for a Cruise to Manaus because they did not have proof of Yellow Fever shots. Required for Brazil.

Saw a couple, at LAX, denied boarding a flight to Beijing because they did NOT have Visas.

Why would the fact that they had visas deny them boarding? I do not get it.

    Ooooops:o

My bad -- Was a typo.

  13. From what I can see of the deck plans if she booked on deck 14 she would have to walk or take the elevator up three floors to deck where the Terrace Pool is, or am I reading those plans incorrectly? Thanks for the help.

No, you are reading the Deck Plans correctly.

The smoking area is Aft on Deck 17.

From what I saw, there is coffee there.

  14. I was speaking about the Regal. From what I can see of the deck plans if she booked on deck 14 she would have to walk or take the elevator up three floors to deck where the Terrace Pool is, or am I reading those plans incorrectly? Thanks for the help.

  15. Does that mean they have sections that are vented for non-smokers? I know about the smoke free nights. I was a smoker ( have lung issues no not because I smoked) I don't mind the smoke that much to each his own. However hubby won't go to the casino at night with me because of this issue. Now if it is vented maybe he will.

    Thanks

I can't answer correctly about their ventilation system. BUT I am also a non-smoker and I wasn't bothered by smoke unless a person was right next to me and blowing it in my direction. I guess it depends too on the make up of the passengers. If you have a lot of smokers, you get a lot of smoke.

I do not smoke; however, heavy smoking bothers me to some extent.

That is why I "scope out" the smoking areas.

To answer your question; the smoking side in the Casino (Starboard Side), on both the Royal and Regal, is separated by the main walk way and Table Games.

There are Slot Machines in both the Smoking Area and the non-Smoking Area.

So, unless one is playing the Slots in the Smoking Area you will not be bothered by your neighbor.

The ventilation system, in my opinion, is quite adequate.

  16. Where are the smoking areas listed?? I've often found a great place to sit & within a few minutes a smoker comes & lights up. If I knew where to avoid, I would.

  17. You can also buy clear plastic luggage tag holders online. They work very well, and you don't have to worry if they get wet in the rain. Here's a picture on Amazon of a luggage tag designed for Princess' luggage tags:

    http://www.amazon.com/Cruise-Luggage-Tag-Holders-Set/dp/B005DFO530/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1429010119&sr=8-2&keywords=luggage+tags+for+princess+cruises

Be sure to get the large cruise ship luggage holders instead of the smaller ones.

They are also available at the Cruise Critic Storeluggagetag_holder.jpg

  18. My pet peeve is people who can't figure out where their seat is. How dumb can you be to not be able to look at the clearly marked numbers and letters over every seat and figure out which one is yours?

Especially if they are in my aisle seat and they have a middle seat.

    Has happened too many times.

  19. This is not the first time it has happened to me but the last cruise it was even worse.

On the Emerald Princess last October /November not only ran out of berries but the Chocolate Covered Strawberries that even on long cruises they never lacked before. Then it was a lack of lemons and and fresh fruit on offer including oranges in the buffet.

We did stop at ports were we could have pick up some these supplies.

I do remember in the past it was only fresh small berries we ran out of understandably.

I am planning a long trip and am beginning to wonder if we will have many more shortage of supplies and this a policy of Princess to save on their food budget.?

It is very cost prohibitive to Air Freight a Container to a distant Port.

Fresh fruit is "time sensitive" and the delay in transport could cause spoilage.

Another problem, which could develop, is that a Port is missed and the container would have to re-routed.
