    Hi!

We haven't been on a cruise for three years due to Covid, very excited for our upcoming November Mediterranean trip!

I know NCL is Free Style, probably more on the casual side. do people still dress up for dinners, photo shots etc. these days?  What's the overall dress code/atmosphere alike, please enlighten me😀.

    TIA!

How was your November Med Cruise? I see you went in 2023 and we are planning to go this year in 2024. How was the weather? Any recommendations on excursions.

I am a "Top 10" shoreex reviewer on NCL.com. The majority of the reviews that I have done over the years are no longer on the NCL website. I've never tied to figure out how it all works.

I had originally assumed that between seasons, tours were removed from the website when they were no longer offered. Then when the cruise line contracts with a tour provider for the next season, they were created with no reviews. Now I just don't know.

All I can say is that there were many more reviews written than what you find on the web site.

do you have a place where you posted your reviews? looking for the mediterranean

No one but you can answer that as it depends on what you like. We are not at all into gambling so never considered Monte Carlo. The first time we were at that port we had a truly wonderful day going to the Matisse and Chagall Museums in Nice. (DW is an art teacher, now retired). But if museums are not your thing, this would be anything but a wonderful experience.

that does sounds more up my lane. thanks for the tip. My mother has a degree in art history - I love art teachers 🙂 I just really want to make the best choices and their website has no reviews. We never took a honeymoon and now that our kid is off to college, it's our turn to take a big trip. Thanks again for your reply.

I suggest asking your question on the NCL board if you are asking about ship excursions.

I thought about it. But from experience - tours book sometimes even before sailing. Have you been to this port? Is it worth going to Monte Carlo.TIA

  5. We are planning for our 20th wedding anniversary Mediterranean cruise in November of this year.

We have the port of Cannes on our itinerary. The NCL website really does not give much information on reviews. Ugh. This is a big dream for us. We never took a honeymoon, and would really like to make best choice in each port.

We are set on take a ship tour. But not sure which one.

I was looking at Highlights of Nice or Nice & Eze view.

Originally - we were considering the Monte Carlo tour - but I read many reviews that it was more for gamblers.

    TIA for your help.

I have been to Cannes on Liberty of the Seas and Norwegian Epic.    The tender trip was short, no idea how long, maybe 10 minutes (I was enjoying the journey so not watching the clock).  Getting ashore depends on how early you can get a ticket for a tender.   That is a ‘how long is a piece of string’ type situation.     We have always gone straight on to public transport so not sure what folk do.

What tour did you do in Cannes? Having a really hard time finding a place to see reviews on the tours available. TIA

  7. First timer creating a topic on one of these boards.... hoping at least for 1 reply 🙂

We are planning our 20th anniversary on a NCL Med cruise in November. Sailing out of Barcelona. I have been to Europe a few times growing up. But I haven't been in 20 years. First time for my husband.

I am racking my brain on the NCL excursion choices. Anybody have any guidance? Or is there a place I can look at the reviews?

For example: Cannes. Should we stick to the Nice tour or go to Monte carlo?

    TIA

Until the end of October, NCL will require 100% of passengers to be vaccinated with no exemptions for people who are unable to get the vaccines (including children under 12).

"The safety and security of our guests, crew and communities we visit is our number one priority. In order to provide the safest cruise experience possible, all guests and crew will need to be fully vaccinated for all sailings with embarkation dates prior to October 31, 2021. Therefore, minors who have not yet been eligible to be vaccinated will not be permitted to sail on these voyages. Minors who have been fully vaccinated are welcome to sail."

I think it will change again in 6 months. Down here in Miami news is getting better by the day. Today MDCPS students effectively immediately don’t have to wear masks outside like during pe or sports. Going to keep my reservation for my family. It’s not until next summer anyways.

  9. The new guidelines of no masks if vaccinated is hopeful. Nobody wants to be on the ship with a mask. Do you know if the vaccine rule is for 18 and over for NCL? Resorts have been able to get back to normal - it’s time for the cruise industry. Maybe not sale to full capacity? Expand the infirmary, and have medications on hand in the case that a vaccinated guest comes down with something. Can’t wait to get back to cruising.

Norwegian Cruise CEO: ‘It Will Be Safe to Cruise from America’

He seems a little 'wound up.  😲

I am sure there is a lot of data from amusement parks,  airlines and resorts. They need to start somehow. I think they should start with booking every other cabin, infection control precautions from dining to shows, rapid tests on board, prophylaxis if needed, a well trained medical team on board. Hospital partners at different ports. But they don’t have much of this information on their website. Then again, they got rid of most of their staff. Wishing them the best. Can’t wait to cruise again @frankdelrio

i should have left that CC dispute going, i canceled it because all my missing fcc suddenly poped up 2 weeks after it should have.

Awful. I just find it sneaky and unethical to have these sailings up to collect funds, and they are laying off their employees. It’s like buying a car from a dealership that’s closing. Lol

I know they said it could take up to 90 days. I submitted my refund request on March 23rd, the first day I could, for a Haven 2-bedroom family villa on an April 2020 cruise that was cancelled. Since then my PCC has called both me and my teenage son about booking with our future cruise credit, which makes me doubt NCL’s internal communication practices. I told my PCC I had requested the refund, not the FCC, but she was unable to check the status because her job is to book cruises. I tried not to push it because I’m sure these folks are stressed out and a lot of them are losing their jobs, but pointing me in the direction of someone who could help might have been nice.

I’ll give them another few weeks, the full 90 days, but if I don’t see the refund come through, I may have to ask Amex for help getting it back.

Curious to know if anyone else has received their refund.

Your post helped me definitely Decide not to book for this summer. We too were looking to getaway. Our kids hated ending the year from home. We were hoping to take them on a cruise. They just had  another round of lays offs this week. Awful. I love cruising.

So it seems those missing cruises in early august will be canceled and the real start up date is aug 23rd.

(I didnt feel good about ncl in aug so my sailing is in sept.    )

They just had  another round of lays offs this week that hasn’t hit news circuit yet. Not hopeful of booking something with them now.

And to NCL I ask, how were you in good conscience selling first week of July cruises up until about a week ago?   Oh wait.  I guess it was not in good conscience...but only to get an interest free 90 day loan from your unsuspecting customers, you being totally aware that they would  not be sailing.    I see you are still selling August 4th cruises.  Doing it again???

    Well said.
    Agreed!

they easily will collect your money. But they can’t continue with these sailing based on the liabilities involved.
Also instead of pushing this generic emails with fluff to excuse them from postponing their sailings... they need to update their website to show what they are doing to ensure they are not going to be hosting a Petri dish of infections.

So you'll sign a waiver saying you won't take up a ventilator or ICU bed if you get sick?

    Exactly!!!

and this isn’t going to be seasonal. It hit all corners of the globe on a range of climates.
We will either have to face herd immunity or come up with readily available treatment options.

It all comes down to whether or not Covid spikes up again in the fall. If it does then the cruise lines won't make it. They will go the bankruptcy route well before there cash runs out. In fact, its unlikely the loans they got are deposited to an operating account. More likely it is drawn out as they need with the option of the loan provider to cancel the remainder. i don't know for sure though.

I am in healthcare. It’s simply my opinion that this isn’t seasonal as it hit globally different regions with variable seasonal conditions. We will have to face herd immunity, or pharmacological interventions as a society to move forward. We will get it done in this modern society.
That in less than 90 days- they let go a chunk of their corporate staff, and mishandled the transition of their crew, leads me to believe they are doomed to fail.

Then they hire some former FDA guy to help with all these initiatives, when they need to hire a  task force of frontline style brains with true hospital/nursing home experience to synchronize with different departments to push the narrative that infection control practices is top priority. This is from their IT department working with the ships, to the shore ex department, to marketing and sales. All in approach.
I love cruising. I really do. But their lack of certainty in this stage of the game on their website, has me holding any funds to book a cruise. This isn’t - we have more hand washing stations... Each ship needs to be individually held accountable with a click on link on their site with information. I want a library of information.

sorry for the rant. Long week at work, and wanted to pop in to see the posts.

Motley Fool just issued this article:

    https://www.fool.com/investing/2020/05/17/will-cruise-stocks-ever-be-profitable-again.aspx

Bottom line, NCL's recovery will depend on how long Covid-19 sticks around.  I would not bet on a quick recovery.

I don’t think so either. Huge message when they lay-off a large amount of their corporate staff. Dumped cruise stocks.

  18. We decided to book our flights with our sailing via NCL. I know they can’t confirm flight reservations until like 30 days prior. But we paid for the 2 day deviation. If we leave from Miami to Barcelona, we loose time. I am confused on how many nights to book at the hotel? Any advice. We leave the 19th and sail the 21st.

    Do I book 19th and 20th?

    or just the 20th?

Just in case, I am trying to pay for a nicer hotel that has a traditional lobby that can hold our luggage a few hours the morning of the sailing so that we can see Sagrada Familia in the morning.

    Thanks in advance.
