  1. What have you decided?

I called or e-mail exchanged with NCL, Carnival, RCCL, Silver Seas, Celebrity, Cunard, MSC, and Azamara.

The only cruise lines with single zero roulette are RCCL and Cunard. Cunard cruises involve a transatlantic voyage, which I don't have time for on this next cruise. I also considered any cruiseline stopping in the Bahamas; I've gambled at Atlantis before. Ultimately, I chose RCCL. 10 of their 25 ships have single zero roulette tables. I filtered all of those ships against November departures, which give me only a couple options, and I chose the Oasis of the Seas for Nov.4-11 doing a Caribbean jaunt.

I got contact information from another cruise thread in here for the onboard casino manager (Amelia Holder), who exchanged some e-mails with me. The Oasis has two roulette tables; one American, one European, but the European table doesn't have La Partage or En Prison. MOST interestingly, it is low stakes. Even money min/max bets on both tables are $5 - $1000. I requested a table stakes raise (either just boosting the max, or boosting the min and max), as well as taking her advice and requesting preapproval with Club Royale, and no one would do anything since I'm not rated for play with Club Royale. That table limit is interesting because in Vegas, $5 - $1000 tables are common for American roulette with the doubled house edge, but there is not a single casino in Las Vegas with a table minimum less than $25. $100 really, but you can catch a single zero table drop their minimum to $25 during offpeak hours to pull people in.

I'll cruise on the Oasis on the Nov.4 cruise. For me, a $5 - $1000 table requires $2,000 to play on correctly. I'll probably bring $4k and ask if they'll double the table max to $2,000. If they won't initially, I'll dink around on it for a day and ask again unless I lose $2k.

Then depending on the cruise, play rating, comps, and whether I can get better answers out of Club Royale, I'll try again in the spring on another cruise. The Allure supposedly has a $25 minimum bet single zero roulette table, so I should probably reach out to their casino manager and find out what the even money min/max bet limits are.

  2. My husband and I were just on Oasis in October of 2017 and absolutely adored the entirety of the ship. We did not encounter a single issue, nor notice anything looking old/dingy. People will complain. Let them. Board the ship with an open mind, and you will be amazed! She is one beautiful behemoth.

...which show for your sailing got cancelled so far out? I’m curious!

    The comedy show!

  3. I am really confused ?? We were also on the same same cruise and watched all the shows except for Cats because we didn't want to watch it. It was very easy to see a show if you didn't have reservations. We would just wander in every night and watch. There were plenty of seats in the upper area and you could see fine. We didn't hear or see of any show being cancelled.

My oasis cruise is November 4th, my wife booked our stuff via the Cruise planner and we're already getting notices of shows being canceled.

  4. Hey folks!

My wife and I have booked our first RCCL cruise for the Oasis of the Seas (in November); we've only been on NCL cruises before.

We’ve been reading reviews from people coming back from the Oasis this month, who have a lot to say about the ship being due for a refit in September 2019, and the ship is limping along with broken pools, the Opal lounge being out of order, the elevators being broken, the shows being canceled ... on top of other concerns.

We just got notice that one of the shows we booked has already canceled and we’re getting concerned that we’ve signed up for a disaster in the making.

What options do we have? What do we so if we go anyway, and its as bad as people are saying? I could use some advice from you RCCL vets.

  5. This is disturbing, we are sailing in October and we picked this ship over several others. I usually take reviews with a grain of salt, but we are looking forward to the entertainment on the ship. I understand this poster feels they did not get what they paid for and were unhappy. But if you look a few post downs another cruiser posted a glowing review of the Oasis and they sailed a week prior to this poster. I am hoping it will be favorable sailing for us!

I'm disturbed because if you filter the cruise line reviews to RCCL, then subfilter down to The Oasis....most of the reviews recently are pretty disturbing.

This will be my first RCCL cruise, switching from NCL, and the theme through all of the reviews is that things are broken, there are incredibly long lines for everything, and RCCL has taken nickel and diming passengers to the next level, with cabin staff asking prepaid gratuity folks for extra tips, wait staff telling passengers that they don't get any of the prepaid gratuities and need separate tips, and mandatory 18% gratuities being added to everything, from spin classes to cupcake making classes to spa treatments.

    It's really disconcerting.

  6. Vegas has triple zero roulette too. The answer to that one is...don't play. Craps is the only table game we play. And I love slot machines. It's a random win so you can go without winning a whole trip. Or you can get lucky.

That is the purpose of having a bankroll. So far, it works out well for us. We get a vacation, they get our money. Sometimes the same as if we actually paid for it:D

I'm pretty sure the only Vegas casino with a triple zero is the Venetian. And only people who don't know what roulette is would get on it.

I ended up booking with RCCL on the Oasis; they have a single zero roulette table that interestingly, has the same min-max as the American table ($5-$1000). The Allure has a $25 minimum table. Carnival confirmed with me that they have no single zero roulette tables anywhere in the fleet, and since the primary purpose of my trip was to gamble - that made Carnival a no-go.

  7. Ah, ad-hominem attacks and name calling, the mark of true character.

I'm both elitist, and retired army - people who might be so thin-skinned as to be offended at being called an ass aren't the kind of folks whose opinions matter to me anyway.

Remember - offense cannot be given. It can only be taken.

*edit* Speaking of being elitist, let me chime in on behalf of the English language elites here, and educate you: An ad hominem attack is using a personal attack to attempt to undermine someone's character, as if such undermining invalidates someone's argument. Which is why it is one of the logical fallacies. Pointing out ad-hominem attacks *and* name calling is redundant. Beyond that, an ad hominem attack requires someone to be attempting to counter someone's argument (with the use of a personal attack). My contention in this thread has no bearing on the subject - only that I disagree that using "Starving people on a cruise ship" is misleading - I only clicked here because I thought I was going to read about actual starving people; pseudo-slave and underfed crewmembers, and maybe an expose.

Beyond that, I've disagreed with someone for mislabeling the OP elitist; I didn't make a personal attack on that person, so no ad hominem in play. Beyond that, I have no contention either way with the OP's opinions on Carnival MDR food quality. I don't cruise carnival. Because *I* am elitist. =D

Words have meaning. Don't abuse them. That's the mark of true character.

  8. There are a few billion people in this world who would love to eat Carnival MDR food. Your comment is elitist and disgusting.

I disagree with the elitist and disgusting - there are only three scotches I drink, a single cigar I smoke, I only drink wine from Corvina grapes (Amarones), wtc etc. That’s elitist. Most places don’t have what I want or am willing to have, so I bring my own, or choose another venue. I would choose water instead of an inferior scotch.

Complaining about the food you’re given - not a particular dish, but the entirety of a cruiseline’s dining experience, as well as their upcharged options doesn’t make you elitist, it just makes you an ass looking for a reason to complain.

An elitist would opt to not sail with carnival because they’re too unclassy.

There are a ****load of cruisers who feel like it is their PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITY to tell everyone how much they cruise, how special they are, how exacting their standards are, and all the reasons why they think they are special and deserving of more preferential treatment.

    They aren’t elitists, just asses.

  9. In the days when I would drop $25 on all numbers placed

In tiers du cylinder, the min max really didn’t matter.

What you will find on most of the roulette tables on RC now is the racetrack (Neigbours) bet option.

It amazes me whenever I place a $100 neighbors bet, no one at the table has any idea what it is for;)

This is the only bet I will drop on a double zero wheel

Min was fixed at $200 at the table I was at, another player asked for the max to be increased and the Casino Manager obliged

There was also a $500 min as well.

So I will assume if you are a lone wolf, you can pretty much ask for the limits to be set to your liking.

Also to add you can play multiple boxes without having to double your wager.

Amelia, the OA casino manager just emailed me back.

She said that both the American and European table are on the main floor, non-smoking side. The Allure has a $25 minimum on the table in the VIO lounge - which doesn’t apply to the Oasis.

Sadly, she also told me that the European table has no European rules (La Partage).

Strangely, she also told me that bith tables have a $5 - $1,000 even money bet limit, and CR has to approve a max raise. (Casino Royale?).

It’s strange because I’ve never even HEARD of a $5 - $1000 single zero table. Casinos raise the minimum to make up the loas of house edge vs. American roulette. Some indian casinos have a $10 minimum, but there is nowhere in Vegas with a $5 table, or even a $10 table - and the only way to get a $25 minimum on the strip is to show up during off peak. Or gonplay american roulette, which I will never do again.

Anyway - you all are the very, very best.

Finally in touch with someone able to give me answers! I asked what it would take to get preapproval from CR to raise the table max for me for my Nov 4-11 cruise; I can dink around on a $5-$1000 table if I have to, but Inonly bankroll 2x a table max; Inwas looking for a $10k game, and I’m not going to hassle with a wire transfer or line of credit if they won’t stake the game I want to play.

  10. No buffet is quality food. Carnival, RCI or a land restaurant.

But that aside, the normal food on cruise ships is crap. The only decent food I’ve had on a cruise ship was on Disney in Palo. The food in the Carnival MDR wasn’t fit for animals.

I’ve never cruised Disney because they don’t have casinos on their ships, but NCL has had great buffet food.

You know how many buffets I expect to find Eggs Benedict on, with a solidly poached egg that isn’t overcooked? Zero. NCL has always had great buffet food for me. I’ve never eaten buffet food on RCCL, with the exception of a fruit bar, and cut up fruit doesn’t count.

  11. Allure, sister of Oasis also had a VIP area, sorry cannot remember if there was a single zero roulette wheel.

The VIP area was hardly used when we sailed, but I can from experience of using the VIP area, confirm that it does actually exist.

Min table limit on BJ was $200-$5000 and negotiable;)

Like others have quoted Thorben is incorrect.

Were both the min and max negotiable? I’m a martingale gambler; I require a minimum on 8 doubles on a roulette table and 7 on a blackjack table - I’d play $50 -$5000 Blackjack, or $200 - $20,000 (in theory) but in reality, I wouldn’t bankroll more than $10k without all the rules that mitigate house edge.

IE, I’ll play on a $25 - $5,000 single zero roulette table without La Partage if I have no options, but without La Partage or En Prison, I’m not going to go hard.

  12. The vip area starts on the right hand side of your screen at 3:13 and goes past 3:19. it just so happens at 3:19 it was a closeup of one of the tables in the vip area.

and yes. Ignore thorben he spent an entire thread bashing someone about how terrible they were because they wanted to take their kids swimming with the dolphins. Thorben is just a troll that likes attn and has nothing to contribute.

Please just wait for the host or the manager and look at the "block" of time in the video and you will see what they refer to as the vip area. It's not simply a different room, it's more like a roped off back corner

    I gotcha. :D:Dclear.png?emoji-grin-1677

How pissed would you be if you canceled a Vegas vacation to go on a cruise, and the cruise didn't have what you were going to play in Vegas? =D

  13. they are typically pretty responsive by email depending on who the host or manager is on that ship right now.

Not sure if the single zero wheel was in the "roped" off section or not. I know for a fact, that there is a single zero wheel.

On both the oasis and the allure.

"I guess what I should have made more clear, is that while i know there is a single zero wheel on board, not sure if there was also one in the small roped off section "

Just hang tight and see what they come back to you with.

Thanks man, you're a ray of hope! After feeling poorly treated by NCL, I'd given up cruising. My wife and I were going to fly to Vegas in November - I like roulette, but I'm also not stupid, so will never play on an American roulette wheel and double the house edge for no reason. =p

She wanted to cruise instead, so we picked a cruise that supposedly had a single-zero wheel, investigated it...and day by day it was filling up. No more minisuites, then no more ocean view balconies. Today there was only one more inside stateroom so I booked it out of desperation, with still no answers from RCCL. The reservation guy trying to work through his support group.

    I really appreciate it.

  14. YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT.

    1. There is a roped off "vip" section where they do have high limit tables

    2. They absolutely have (1) single zero table.

As the other poster suggested Please email either the casino host or manager

    oa_casinomanager@rccl.com

    oa_casinohost@rccl.com

That being said. still not sure they will offer you high enough limits.

I didn't see a single zero wheel in there (3:19 was an electronic poker table, and I watched the whole thing), but I e-mailed both of those!
