Thanks for the advice. Loved Pinney’s beach. Our best port day. Great swimming and the ocean was uncrowded and beach did not seem overly crowded. Delicious food available. Killer Bees were definitely killer. Will do Nevis again if I have the opportunity.

BTW, I booked the ferry and chairs/umbrella ahead via Trip Advisor.

I was looking to do this also for the beginning of April...I don't see where to book the ferry and beach chairs...that would be awesome!

  2. Hey...just wanted to say to reedprincess...Thank you!  I have been reading all of your posts and am gathering the info to make a good informed decision about our 1-8pm time on the island.  I have been before but honestly can't remember everything we did.  I know I have done the Pitons...and I think a sea turtle catamaran...this time still thinking about it.

Anyway...thank you for all the recommendations!!!   I so appreciate all you do to share with people here!!

  3. I will also be looking for a Jeep tour for April...my suggestion would be to email the company and ask...they often change times due to cruise ships coming in....

Nice to hear. We are renting a Jeep and doing it ourselves. We want to go to the lighthouse, gold mill with the hidden pool by it, if we can check out the natural pool in the national park, then down towards Baby Beach.

Where did you rent your jeep???

  5. Why do you think it is odd that bottled water is not included with the beverage package? Bottled or canned soda is not included either but no one seems to think that is odd.

I think it's odd... on Princess that beverage alcohol package includes water and soda... I haven't really looked at the NCL beverage packages yet...

  6. I've cruised with Princess quite a few times and I always check these out...never know when something new is going to pop up...besides...it is what I do before the cruise...in those torturous 2-3 weeks before a cruise when time slows to a snail's pace!!!:o

  7. We try to get on the ship early....stop on our way to our cabin to a) get our liquor sticker and b) get our first drink....then continue to the cabin to drop off stuff, put valuables in safe and put on bathing suit under shorts/t-shirt, grab towel...head to lido deck for next drink, and lunch...burger or pizza and find a spot in the sun...to soak it up after a long...not so wonderful winter (usually cruising during spring break)...talk about dinner plans when everyone finally gets up to the pool area...swim and sun and have a few drinks until we have to grab our life preserver for muster...then after muster it is time for our unofficially awesome meet and greet on the highest deck with a bar....relax and talk with cc friends...old and new until we realize we better get ready for a late dinner....

Leaving April 7th...and as always...I cannot wait!!!!

And...love reading this thread as it gets me so excited to go....

  8. Stop pushing private tours ,you sound like tour operator.

I did not feel like he was pushing private tours...I felt like he was sharing his preference....

I, myself, like to do a tour. I completely agree with him about getting a local's view of life rather than reading it from a website.

I will be there this April....and am looking forward to a modified :D group tour...one that I pick the company...and the people to share it with...not the ship.

I went on a selected group tour a few years ago...not sure which one...and the tour guide was amazing. At the end, she gave everyone a copy of a poster from a local festival. Her husband was the artist that was picked for the poster. It was such a wonderful experience. I had the poster framed and it is on one of my walls.

Do whatever you feel most comfortable with....that is really the key!!!

  9. We own a house there, so visit for a combined 6-8 weeks a year. :-)

You are living my dream...I love Grand Cayman...and if one day when I retire I can afford it...I will definitely move there...it is one of the cleanest, safest, and friendliest island I have been to....and I've hit all most all of the major islands...

  10. I would recommend hiring a private charter....not all that expensive...and having someone snorkel with you and provide you with a lesson....

I just used Jester Sailing and Captain Jim was wonderful....On the full day snorkel...he will cook you lunch, provide you with plenty of drinks...with or without alcohol...

It was an amazing day!!! Good luck and have a great time!!!

  11. You can always hire a private charter to take you all around...hit all the highlights! We used Jester Sailing last week...a full day sail with as many stops as we wanted...a lovely barbeque lunch...lots of drinks and snacks...

    Captain Jim was wonderful!!!

You can google Jester Sailing and find his website....it was the most amazing day!!!

  12. Hey....just wanted to share...I just got back, April 13th cruise on the Royal...and we used Jester Sailing....what a fantastic time!!! The boat was lovely and the crew really took great care of us!!!

Capt. Jim was amazing...he cooked us a great meal AND provided us with plenty of drinks and snacks!!! His Jester Juice is DELICIOUS!!!! We did a full day with him and it was just the perfect day and very reasonable! Only 6 allowed...plenty of room....but we ended up having only 3 on the boat....and NO EXTRA CHARGE!!!

I have done numerous private charters and Captain Jim and Jester Sailing is one of my favorites!!!

I have sailed with Rumbaba also and it was also a wonderful day!

You can't go wrong with either of these!!!

  13. I leave for my cruise aboard the Royal in just a few days....AND I AM PSYCHED! I love Princess and love the ships I have been on. I am excited about a new ship...and understand it will be different...which is why I am sailing on her.

We live in a society that spends so much time on the negative and very little time on the positive. I know there will be things I love and things that I don't love....but by GOD...I am on vacation, I am on a cruise, and I am (hopefully) enjoying weather better than home!!!! I intend to love every minute of it...even if things aren't perfect (which they never are)...I am going to embrace it all...

And finally...Princess is my favorite...although I loved the huge mini suite I had on RCCL and the amazing service I had on NCL...Princess has always treated me well!!! So, even if I don't love, love, love the new Royal...I will be back on Princess as soon as I can....

Fingers crossed for some great weather!!!!

  14. So happy to find this thread. I have never cruised before ..... been wanting to cruise for 'years'!!! This is my first time .... will be on Royal Princess coming up this week on April 13 !!! SO excited I can't stand it! Cruising with my best friend who is coming all the way from South Africa so we can do the cruise together. We are leaving our teenage kids and husbands at home and doing this cruise.

Did I mention I was wild excited. Feel like a kid!

So ... will watch this thread closely - I need all the advice I can get!

    :D:):p:D

Hey...come over to the roll call...we've got a great group that is talking and sharing great info...

We have our first meet and greet at sail away at the Outrigger Bar...please come and meet us....

    Sybil

OR DITTO WHAT DESERTDUO SAID...DIDN'T SEE HIS POST BEFORE WRITING MY OWN....

  15. Hey Ken....The April 13th gang will be following you every step of the way....thanks tons for taking the time to share your experience....it will make my week so much more exciting!!!

I didn't realize your cabin was L208...I am L207...other side of the ship!!! If you get a chance, I would love to see some pics!!!

Anyway, so glad you are there...on board and off on your vacation! Have a great time!

Wishing you smooth sailing...beautiful clear skies....and millions of memories that last a lifetime! See you next Sunday!!!!;)

  16. We will be on the Breakaway in August....if Dan the man will be there...was he good?

And as for the question about how important it is....

I can honestly say that the CD doesn't ruin the experience but he/she can make it even better! We had a CD named Kelvin Joy on a Princess cruise and he made it especially memorable...we are still in contact with him....then we have had others that we don't even remember one way or another...

Thanks for any info on Dan the man!!!

  17. Hey there....just found this thread ....started reading from page 1 and realized how many pages there are....

    Questions:

We are looking for a hotel post cruise for two days....would like to be on the beach if possible with a really nice pool....and have good restaurant choices...is this asking too much? Also would like to avoid paying an arm and a leg....never used a name your own price site....

Thanks for any help you can give!!!!!

  18. This August we will be cruising on NCL for the first time. We have cruised on Princess, RCCL and Carnival....

Just wondering what is on the list of forbidden items for NCL....do they have the naughty room like RCCL or are they more relaxed like Princess.

Carnival had a policy about extention cords and power strips...that was not enforced ...but was being talk about a lot before our cruise....

So...if you could share info...in a non-judgemental way:)....it would be most appreicated. If you feel the need to judge...I'd rather not have information from you;)....Thanks ahead of time for your assistance!!!

  19. Hey Pam....I read and followed your thread from last year...feeling like I knew you and your family after spending that "time with you". I have learned so much from reading ALL of your posts. Thank you. This thread brought tears to my eyes. I am so glad to hear that Princess took such good care of you and your family. That is the way it should be!

It sounds like it was a beautiful experience and I am so happy that you, your sister and the family were able to follow through with your brother in laws wishes. The flowers were perfect...beautiful...a perfect celebration of your brother in laws life.

Thanks again for sharing something so very personal with all of us. Best wishes for smooth sailing!!!

    Be well,

    Sybil
