gsmiles4u is asking this question because we're all meeting up in Skywalkers on our April cruise and some of our roll call group are concerned about smoking being allowed. Can you confirm that smoking IS allowed in Skywalkers? If so, is there another non-smoking place that has fun dancing in the evening? We're bringing our own music - somebody in our group is making a mix-tape with everybody's favorite dance songs. Thanks! :p

Was on St John just 4 days ago! The ship docked at Havensight, we caught a cab to Red Hook ($10 p.p., 30 minutes), caught the 9 a.m. ferry ($6 p.p., 20 minutes), caught a cab to Trunk Bay Beach ($6 p.p., 10 minutes), paid the $4 entrance fee, and viola, we were at the most beautiful beach in the world. Luckily there were only 3 ships in port and we got there early enough to get a great spot by the lifeguard tower. It only got crowded when a snorkeling tour showed up. But that didn't bother us at all.
The water is like bath water, the sand is perfect white powder, the snorkeling is to die for (after all, it has a huge reef). We did not rent a chair or lounger and spend 3 hours in the water bobbing around or snorkeling. Pure heaven.
There's a huge restroom with showers, a rental area, and a little restaurant bar where we had a nice lunch (your basic burgers & sandwiches).
We had left instructions for the cab driver to pick us up at 1 p.m. Had plenty of time to do some fun shopping in Cruz Bay before catching the 2 p.m. ferry back to St Thomas. Then had plenty of time to shop at the Havensight Mall which is about 60 seconds from the pier.
The benefit of doing this on your own is being able to set your own schedule. If you don't care about shopping, stay longer at the beach. The cab drivers are great about picking you up in time so no worries there.

Chrystal, thank you so much for posting the pictures of Trunk Bay! We'll be there in 45 days with a group on our CC roll call, doing it on our own. It's nice to see that it's really as beautiful as I'd hoped it would be!

Bummer, you poor thing! Thanks so much for the warning!

Bring various sizes of ziplock baggies: snack size, sandwich size, quart size, gallon size. Especially if you're sneaking food off the ship!

I'm just sad that your review is over! Best one I've ever read - thank you so much for sharing! I just LOVE the Serenade and can't wait to be on her again next year. :p

Really great review. We are doing it as a back to back Nov26/Dec 3, 2011. I can hardly wait to book some of the same trips. Sheryl

Chrystal - loving your review! I see that your friend is also named Crystal - how fun.

I have a light-weight double-knit longish black skirt that is a-symetrical with a ruffle at the bottom (looks better than it sounds, lol), and then I find some formal tops to go with. Nothing with glitter (it sheds) but something pretty. That's the easiest for me to do, since I look hideous in dresses (different size top-half and lower-half).

Quick answer: Yes. But it's nothing like on Disney cruises.
Swollen ankles and feet on a cruise?

I went to Vitamin World and bought 1000 mg black cherry capsules. The gal recommended taking 1000 mg tumeric capsules as well, as tumeric also helps with inflamation. So I'll be taking 1 of each per day a week prior to my cruise and then during the cruise. Hoping for the best! Thanks for the advice!
