Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Thank you MoCruise Fan for the suggestion. I tried that tactic and after hitting so many buttons, it thanked me for calling and hung up. At this point, I am going to use them at their current value before the cards lose more of their worth. I will always have the cards and I can continue to deal with the issue and see where I get. As mentioned before, if is wasn't for COVID and not being able to cruise, this would definitely be my own fault and have to put up with the consequences.
  2. Yes, you are correct. I have four of those gift cards. I contacted the NYS Department of State Division of Consumer Protection. They recommended that I fill out a complaint form with New York State first which I have just completed and sent. Since the gift cards were from Metabank, the next step may be to contact The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency which regulates and supervises all national banks and federal saving associations. I was also given information if I needed to contact the Texas Consumer Protection Office of the Attorney General. In the interim, the cards will continue to lose value until this is cleared up. I honestly don't want to use them unless recommended. I don't know if I will lose my case if I use them. Thank you.
  3. I am booked on the NCL Getaway in January, 2023. I went to use my NCL gift cards to cover the cost of using the thermal spa only to find out that the value of my gift cards had decreased by 63% and went from being worth $650 to $240.50. My husband and I were originally going to use them on our Bliss cruise in 2020, but we had to get off the ship quickly as his mother passed away and we had to fly out of Barbados to get back in time for the funeral. It was recommended by NCL guest services, to save time, hold onto the gift cards until our next cruise. We planned on cruising again within the next six months and so we did not think it would be a problem waiting to use them. I understand the rules, but how could I use them since the cruise line was shut down for 18 months because of COVID. I contacted the number on the back of the cards and found that you cannot get to a representative at all. I filled out a case submission form on the NCL website, but won't here back from them for up to 30 days. I also spent over six hours on hold with NCL between yesterday and today and was finally told that I would have to call the number on the back of the card. I have read some posts about the same problem, but they go back to 2017 well before COVID. I want to dispute it further, but don't know where to go next. Do I have any chance of getting the full amount back? Is it worth going up the chain with NCL or will that be a waste of my time? Living in New York State, do I have any consumer rights? Better Business Bureau? Do I just use the cards and be happy with $240.50? Any suggestions are welcome. Thank you in advance.
