I have sailed as many as 4 times in one year on NCL. I sail out of NYC as it is nearest my home. On a cruise in 2015, my daughter bought 2 Sail Ahead Certificates. We had to book within 4 years, according to them. We did, and our cruise is for 1-3-21. I am sure that they will not be sailing. I cancelled on the date that final payment was due, because if I had paid in full for the cruise, I couldn't get my money back; it would be kept as a future cruise credit. Pretty much anywhere. I love almost all. Have stayed on Aruba for a week and Puerto Rico for a week. Something to consider: If you have Medicare, it is good in Puerto Rico and the USVI. Also check where your cell phone works. Brush up on your Spanish just about anywhere.

Actually I prefer to stay on the ship at ports, so private island cruising would be fine. Perhaps no port charges? No being accosted and bothered by local "merchants" selling trinkets made in China. I never eat or drink off the ship anyway. Probably my personal biggest concern would be not having the ship to myself! Of course, the cruise line would probably run its own "shore excursions" and make more money doing it. I cruise because, when I first began, the service was outstanding.
