We used our last cruise next certificates up on a September 2021 cruise just days before expiry, we even had a email warning us about expiring.

We are not bothered using NCL after then, our NCL agent is talking of retirement, same with us, we will just grab any last minute offers with any cruise line agency in the future, it doesn’t pay to be loyal.

    I agree.

The operative word is that “you” cancelled without thought of the consequences.

However, the next day, they cancelled the cruise (the day after final payment was due)  I just didn't want to pay in full on a cruise that I was correctly pretty sure that it wasn't going to sail.  HOWEVER,  now I have rec'd all the credit I had and have used it toward two future cruises.

  3. I have sailed as many as 4 times in one year on NCL.  I sail out of NYC as it is nearest my home.  On a cruise in 2015, my daughter bought 2 Sail Ahead Certificates.  We had to book within 4 years, according to them.  We did, and our cruise is for 1-3-21.  I am sure that they will not be sailing. I cancelled on the date that final payment was due, because if I had paid in full for the cruise, I couldn't get my money back;  it would be kept as a future cruise credit. Yes, I checked and made sure that is the policy.  I cancelled, thinking that the certificates already used toward this sailing  would be applied to Future Cruise Credits under the new "Peace of Mind" policy.  NO, we get NOTHING..because the certificates are now expired.  As you know this is not our fault.   This wasn't even the first cruise this year that we were booked on that was cancelled.  We were supposed to sail last April.  We actually did go in February.   This is how they treat their Latitudes Platinum members.  I would have been Platinum Plus by now if now for the cancellations.

  4. Actually I prefer to stay on the ship at ports, so private island cruising would be fine.  Perhaps no port charges?  No being accosted and bothered by local "merchants" selling trinkets made in China.  I never eat or drink off the ship anyway.  Probably my personal biggest concern would be not having the ship to myself!

Of course, the cruise line would probably run its own "shore excursions" and make more money doing it.

I cruise because, when I first began, the service was outstanding.  The crews made you feel really special.  It was a luxury for me.  I enjoy interacting with the crew and learning about them.  Now they are barely allowed to stop long enough to chat.

One thing is for sure, if it is done it will be because the lines can make more money doing it.  I would be sorry for the locals who depend on tourism to make a meager living!

  5. I am also of the "none of the above" mind.

Room service? I can walk to the "trough" as I need the exercise anyway.

Specialty restaurants? Tried it once, not any better than the main dining room.

Chairs all day by the pool? Never use one.

Never use the casino, as a matter of fact, I make every effort to NEVER even walk through as it stinks from smoke!

What about internet access? Way too high a charge, especially for low quality dial-up speed service. I finally leave my laptop at home.

Paying extra for an oceanview is worth it. Paying for a balcony may not be, but I do like it. I have a limit though.

The front room in the theatre almost drew me in, but nah....

Table for 2? I would like to talk with the other pax.

Maybe a window seat at dinner.....

Toiletries? No, I like mine better.

Get rid of the "art auctions" I heard that Park what-ever is in court accused of fraudulent dealings.

Almost did a little fitness counselling on the last cruise, but decided to keep my dollars in my own little town where I would see him week after week. Ditto the spa....Way too pricey.

I am glad that the price of liquor is extra, since I don't drink any.

Photos: I used to buy every one that was taken....5 x 7's at $6. I don't want 8 x 10,s or larger. How many cruise photos can be displayed in one's living room? Last cruise, I finally said "no" to pictures.

Reading all the above.....honest, I do have some vices....and I have a great time on the cruise. I like meeting other people, especially the crew, from other cultures and finding out all about them, their views and their countries! The best part of travel!!
