  1. Doing the Bliss on June 9th to Alaska.  I read the pools are only open when in port, or only when not in port, I can't remember.  Is that true?

Short on deck in June?  This is a ray of hope for me.  I've been planning 50's, rain and winter coats.  Now I have to rethink all my packing?  LOL

  2. Because of this thread, I purchased some packing cubes that just showed up this wknd.  I will let you guys know how they worked out.   I should really start thinking about packing soon.  Our cruise is June 9th (Alaska) and we fly out to Seattle on the 7th.  Time is getting away from me.  I might also look at making a spreadsheet.  I like that idea more and more.

  3. I asked the same thing a bit ago, and got similar answers.  However, hubby said he did some more research on line and found where the Bliss did not allow them.  Where he found that, and was it legit, I don't know.  Best case it to contact NCL direct.

However, I can see how they could be annoying.  On the other hand, stickies or cabin phone messages aren't practical if everyone is out and about on the ship somewhere and you want to get in touch.  We have AT&T and are getting a cruise plan so that we can text and phone.

  4. Lets face it, we all create spreadsheets in our head, nothing wrong with putting it on paper.  Great idea.  I might actually do that for our upcoming cruise.  We travel a lot, so I don't know why I'm always freaked out about packing, but I am.  I lose sleep over it, and I have nightmares about it.  I'm serious.

  5. I love to overpack.  I love to have options.  Nothing worse than on the last day being left with one option to wear, and I swear I always feel fat in that one.  LOL  I pack then at the last minute throw a few more items in if there is room.  I panic and worry I won't have everything I want.

Shoes - yes that's always an issue.  I also read flip flops were not allowed, but since it sounds like they are, that will make life easier.

We are on the Getaway in November this year.  I have been watching for the internet pricing for our cruise but it is not showing any yet.  I assume that it would even show up for purchase until maybe after final payment or so.  We own our own business so we will need the upgraded package with two users (WiFi calling and etc).

Hubby also owns his own business and is trying to find the best option so he can remain in contact.  I believe he plans on getting his thru AT&T.  He said it is $175 for 200 minutes and 200MB of data, just for his phone.

  7. We can all pay to have a phone plan that includes texting, we were just looking at options.  We found some cute Hello Kitty ones that they guys wanted.

I do believe late last night hubby was doing some googling and said (or I dreamt this) that they are NOT allowed on our ship.

  8. Our last cruise was a Celebrity (Summit) about 3-4 years ago or so.  That was our favorite so far.  We did Carnival and NCL in the 90's, RCCL early 2000's, Celebrity recently and now doing NCL again (Bliss - Alaska - June) as we were invited by friends.  While i can't really offer a comparison since NCL for me was so long ago and it appears things have changed so much, I will certainly be comparing the two when we go in June.  I don't recall Celebrity being so much work with the pre-planning, and pre-paying service charges on the free drink package.........and we booked that trip all on our own.  For this one our friends had us use their travel agent, and it's been a lot of work.  LOL

  9. I do enjoy my wine, but was also thinking I could make do with what was offered.  We have the UBP and while I realize the choices below $15 are relatively limited when it comes to wine, thought I would survive.  We are actually spending two nights in Seattle before boarding, so bringing on a bottle or two for a special night might not be that big of a deal after all.  i Keep forgetting we will already be there and not flying in that day.

  10. I'm sure it's been addressed, so I apologize in advance, but I only find time to hop on and hop off here occasionally.  I know you can bring on wine when you get on the ship and pay a $15 corkage fee.  I've decided not to do this, but what if I happen to find a bottle in port somewhere and want to bring it on?  Can I pay the corkage fee, or will they confiscate it until the end of the cruise?

  11. Our TA just contacted us today to see if we wanted her to set up the NCL transfer for us in Seattle.  Our flight was bumped up to 11:15 am.  Would you do a self assist starting at 6:45 and grabbing an uber or taxi, or do the shuttle?  I think I feel we will do better on time doing self assist.  I hate to cut anything close, that's just a stress bomb for me.

  12. I'm not a smoker, but someone going with us on the Bliss is.  Just to clarify, the ONLY place on the whole ship she will be able to smoke is in that glass enclosed area in the casino, correct?  Not on the balcony or any outside areas.  She was asking me about that, and honestly I don't pay attention.  I saw this thread and figured it was a good chance to find out.   I assume that area is always accesible, 24/7?

  13. Is there a limit on the bottles of wine (price)?  Can you only have a bottle at dinner, or can you order one in a lounge, for example?  Are you allowed to take it back to your room?  Seems a bit pricey for us to upgrade, but I love my wine, so I just want to weigh my options.
