    lost OPs question in quote:

I then contacted NSW Fair Trading & they advised me to get the following information so action can be taken:-

    1. What is the group booking Reservation ID

    2. What is the name of the ship

    3. What is the sail date

    4. What is the departure port

    5. What cabins have been booked

    - - - - - - -

edited above to add quote info

Would that information be the original ship, sail date, departure port and cabin?

Or are you saying the TA attached all the FCCs to a future random sailing as a placeholder?

    Good luck!

I suspect the same.  The fact RC won’t give me the details of where my FCC’s are is the real concerning piece of the puzzle.

Are the rules in Australia different?   In the US if you have a problem with a ta, i.e., they are unresponsive,  then you can ask Royal to sever the relationship.  Not sure why they won't help.

Michael Bayley’s office advised that due to legal contractual arrangements between RC & the TA, RC can’t do anything about my FCC’s unless the TA releases them.
It sounds like to me that RC has paid the TA cash to redeem the FCC’s. Hence, they are no longer interested.
NSW Fair Trading are trying to investigate, but they need to know the cruise, the ship, the departure date & the departure port, but, RC refuse to give me that information.

It looks like they have already connected him and are not getting the resolution they hope for.

Yes I’ve emailed Mr Bayley & RC are claiming, that there is no way they can resolve this problem.  It’s very interesting since I paid RC direct.  It’s almost like they have some how paid out the TA the value of my FCC’s.

    Can you see the scam????

Once (IF THEY EVER) RC confirm all the details about the so called cruise my FCC’s are attached too, I’ll be in a better position to take legal action against RC & or the TA.  In the meantime I’m waiting & waiting & waiting.  I feel RC & the TA are looking for a solution whereby they don’t expose themselves to the scam.  It seems I’ve backed them both into a corner & they’re stuck with no way out.

Why can't rc void the fcc's and issue new ones?  No need to access anyones booking since the cruise is not happening.

    I’ve offered RC easy solutions.

    1. Cancel those FCC’s & issue new ones.  No, they can’t be cancelled.

    2. Give me OBC to the value of my FCC’s. No, they’re currently tied up with a group booking & are active.

    3. Just offer a discount on my cruise to the value of the FCC’s.  No, contractually & financially we can’t remove the FCC’s from the TA booking.

    Can you see the scam????

  5. Summary:-

Oct 2019 - Booked B2B Med Cruises directly with RC.

May 2020 - RC cancel Med cruises & issue FCC’s.

Dec 2020 - My Friend organises a 60th birthday cruise for March 2022.  I use my FCC’s to reserve 2 cabins.  I give the FCC’s to my friends TA whom is organising the group booking.

Sept 2021 - RC cancels March 2022 cruise.

Oct 2021 - I contact TA & request to FCC’s to be transferred to my July 2022 cruises.  The TA claims unless I transfer the July 2022 cruises to her she can’t apply the FCC’s to them.  Hence, I request her to remove my FCC’s from the booking.  She advises, It’ll cost me $100 per FCC to do so.  I contact RC & they advise that because the group booking was cancelled by RC they’ll be able to access the booking to transfer the FCC’s after 45 days.

Dec 2021 - RC advise the group booking is locked & they can’t access my FCC’s, it may take them 2 weeks to gain access.

Jan 2022 - RC advise they are looking for a solution it may take another couple of weeks.

Feb 2022 - RC advise they are escalating the problem.

March 2022 - RC advise they are manually going to override the computer system & apply the FCC’s to my July 2022 cruise.

April 2022 - RC advise contractually they can’t access the group booking.  They emailed the TA & advised her to release the FCC’s.  At the same time I emailed the TA requesting the release of FCC’s.  I also emailed Michael Bayley & detailed what is going on & the scam that is unfolding.  Makenna Harris responded & claimed to be working on a resolution.  MH then advised that as the cruise is a group booking, legally RC have no way in transferring my FCC’s.  I reminded MH that RC has my cash & not the TA.  The FCC’s are owned by me & my wife & not the TA.  Legally RC has a contract with me & my wife.  The group booking was cancelled by RC back in September 2021 & the planned cruise date was the 18th March 2022.  So as of todays date the cruise doesn’t exist it never happened.  So where are my FCC’s!

I then contacted NSW Fair Trading & they advised me to get the following information so action can be taken:-

    1. What is the group booking Reservation ID

    2. What is the name of the ship

    3. What is the sail date

    4. What is the departure port

    5. What cabins have been booked

Well… the silence is deafening from MH & RC.

Does anybody see the scam unfolding here?  I do!

Who knows how to resolve this problem?

  6. Cash is king!  I’ve had bad experiences with RC applying pending charges to my credit/debit card on a daily basis only for them to charge me the full amount on the last morning of the cruise.  Hence, they (effectively) charged me twice & it took nearly a month to remove all the daily pending charges which in turn tied up my card for the rest of my holiday & was very inconvenient.   Get your cash out a an ATM in port & pay them to finalise your cash account.

Has anyone had a price drop while RCCL is closed? I noticed mine dropped by $500 and the office is closed, sale ends tomorrow. Would they honor the proce if I send an email with screenshots of the updated price?

Just make sure the screenshot is of the final pricing clearly showing all charges, port fees & taxes.

  8. Best Price Guarantee is a lottery with RC.  Sometimes when you call up they just give it to you, other times they claim you aren’t eligible, other times they claim the price you are seeing on the website isn’t the price they see in front of them.  Hence, you need to either quote the Terms & Conditions, or screenshot the current pricing to prove it, & send an email to reservations.  Reservations can & usually take a very long time to respond & confirm the new price with an updated invoice.

  9. I would definitely recommend to do the train trip on your own.  If you download Rick Steves Audio Europe App it will take you on a very similar walking tour the cruise line organises (& charges $200) for free… well for the cost of the return train trip (€15).

My tip is simple for Rome, check what time the ship departs Civitavecchia port & allow 3 hours to get back onto the ship from central Rome.  So, if the ship is departing at 7PM check the train timetable for a train leaving around 4PM & plan to get on it.  Worst case scenario you take a taxi back to the ship, if there is a problem with the trains.

  10. After Royal cancelled my March 2022 Ovation cruise, I requested by phone to have the FCC that was applied to the cancelled March 2022 cruise (FCC was from a cancelled July 2020 cruise) to be applied to my July 2022 cruise.  I was told on 3rd September 2021 that the original FCC number which was applied to the cancelled March 2022 cruise CAN NOT be applied to another future cruise.  A new FCC number will be issued to replace the original FCC number.  I was told this will take anywhere between 45 & 60 days.  Well, here we are at 104 days!  I phoned Royal today only to be told the issue has been escalated with the FCC team.  After 10 minutes on hold, the answer was “it’ll take between another 7 to 14 days to complete the process of issuing new FCC numbers.”  I’m certain Royal have no idea what they are doing… just press the bloody button & keep your customers happy!  It can’t be such a convoluted process!

How likely is it that I’ll get the new FCC numbers between Xmas Day & New Year’s Day?

Unnecessary. I travel every week with a cpap in checked luggage on planes and on cruises 5-6 times a year. Never a problem.

CPAP machines if carried on board airlines are NOT included as part of your carry on baggage weight.  However, if you put the CPAP in your checked baggage it WILL be included as part of your checked baggage weight, hence, you could incur an overweight charge at the airport.

  12. Royal sent me emails today advising of their cruise planner “Biggest Sale Of The Year” Black Friday Cyber Monday Up To 55% Off Sale for my B2B cruises on Rhapsody in the Med next July.  Well… prices are 3-5% higher than the average prices that were available in September & October.  After they jacked up the prices earlier this month, the prices in the cruise planner are not what I would consider a sale!  Hopefully, they flick the switch & decide to have a real cruise planner sale later in the week.  If not, I’ll just wait until June next year & order form the cruise planner then at most likely the same prices as this sale.  Also, I’d rather have my cash working for me over the next 8 months instead of financing Royal.  I’m not a Royal stockholder.

  13. Royal cancelled my March Ovation cruise & told me that my FCC’s that were used can not be transferred to my July Med cruises because they have to issue new FCC’s which will have different numbers & that will take between 45 & 60 days to issue.  Why??????

Also, what gets under my skin with Royal is if they don’t receive your final payment by the due date they cancel your cruise, they show no flexibility.  Me thinks it all one way traffic with Royal.  They really don’t care about their loyal customers which is a shame!

  14. If I’ve already paid for the tips upfront, I’m certainly not going to leave another tip… unless the person has gone well above & beyond their duty in providing a simply exceptional service.  I’m not tipping anybody for doing their job well.  That’s how it works in Australia & Europe.  For the wealthy who love tipping by all means throw your cash at good service… but, don’t judge others who refuse to tip for the 2nd or 3rd time even though they may have received great service.

On the flip side, do you think RC & their staff really care that I’ve been out of a job for the last 18 months due to Covid, & over the same period they’ve held on to all my cash?  Nobody knows anybody's financial circumstances, that’s why RC ensure gratuities are to be paid by everyone, so, they can spread it out evenly with the entire staff on the ship.

  15. 8-8:30PM.

Works well for us.  Usually back on the ship by 5PM, time for a snack, cocktail & swim or nap by pool.  Then back to cabin for shower & or nap, then head out for a pre dinner drink 30 mins before dinner.  Then grab 10PM show after dinner.  Finally, finish night off at casino or nightclub/bar.  In bed by midnight ready for next port day or 3AM if it’s a sea day!
