  1. We were on the Valor and saw lots of people dressed as 80's retro.  I didnt realize they had theme nights, and that was my 3rd cruise!  I'm heading out on the Mardi Gras in October and cant help but wonder what other themes and when they are so we know when to pack.  Does anyone have any tips on where to find this?

  2. I'm scheduled for October, and I'm looking forward to the information!!  We've only sailed Conquest Class ships and I'm very excited to go on the MG!!!

One has some sensory issues, and while he is crushing it on coping with them lately, it’s always an uncertainty for us when it comes to something so new and overwhelming.

Dont you just love it when they overcome something?  My daughter is also autistic and she has become quite independent, exceeding everything "they" said she'd be able to do.  Our family mascot is the flying pig.  People will say something will happen when pigs fly?  Well pigs regularly fly around out house!!!

  4. To date, we have only cruised Conquest Class.  I'm quite excited about going on the Mardi Gras while  my autistic hubby is in panic mode.  He has many questions, some I'm hoping someone can help me out with.  I could have sworn I saw somewhere that there is a deli, that was open late, allowing for late night snacking.  I cannot seem to find it again.  Is there a sandwich deli?  Is there a Pizza Pirate along with the Pizza Del Capitano?

When on the Conquest Class, this board gave me the ultimate embarkation tip, the "hidden" BBQ place that is usually empty when you get on the ship.  Is there any such place on the Mardi Gras?  Also, are there any other tips & tricks you know about?

    Thank you in advance!

  5. I'm due to sail in a few days on Valor!  I'm now doing my last minute planning, Some of which is to give my family the "in case of emergency" information.  I did this 2 years ago and now I cannot find it anywhere.  I also like to put this information in wallets so if something happens, and we are stuck somewhere and need to call Carnival, we'll have the info.  Yes, I know, over kill.  But its things like this that allow me to enjoy myself.  Anxiety really sucks.  Does anyone have any clue where to find this?

  6. Its also a good idea to practice.  My daughter is autistic. She's fairly independent, and is actually now living with her boyfriend, and we still do "social stories" to practice what she may come up against.  I'll tell her what will be going on and why I'm concerned. We went to a large weekend outing for my fraternity and I was very concerned about this same thing.  I showed her the crest on my shirt and told her if we got separated, all she had to do is find someone wearing a shirt with that crest and tell them my name and they'll get her to me.  The employees all have different colors, but they all have name tags.  "find someone wearing a name tag, give them your card, and they'll get you back to me".  I'm certain you can find a picture of a few employees with different colored uniforms so he can realize the uniforms are different, so he needs to look for name tags.

  7. I have had the RnY surgery.  At that point in your journey, you'll be on regular foods and should have made enough mistakes to know how your new body can eat.  Do yourself a favor, though....  do NOT keep doing things is does NOT like to train it to eat the crap that got you to the surgery in the first place. Remember the old adage "My eyes are bigger than my stomach"?  oh so VERY true!  You can ALWAYS ask for more if you are still hungry, or leave the dining room and hit the buffet.  But if you are honest with yourself, you wont be hungry.  Food is loud.  Just be certain to acknowledge the discomfort in your small, overstretched stomach is louder.....  I hope this helped!!

(ps, lost 60 lbs with surgery, gained 20 because I didn't follow my own advice, lost 40 & maintained for 3 years)

    1. Update!!  It is VERY elegant!  Totally not me, but Hubby says I can pull it off.  And it will travel well, meaning it will take up little space without wrinkles...  and everything is covered!  Thank you all so much for all the laughs!!

  8. I am so excited to be invited to my niece's wedding!  I received the invitation yesterday and it states "Formal Attire Requested".  My husband groaned & whined.  I shouted with joy.  Why?  I get a new ELEGANT NIGHT GOWN!!!!!!  I'll wear it on the Valor, Nov 4th!!!!!!  Shopping for it tomorrow!  I'll be so pretty!  🙂

  9. As another member of the weight loss surgery team, I was so excited to hear we could now order 1/2 entrees!  This is a huge bummer.  I really hate any kind of waste.  All that said, I'm going to waste what ever I need to and still eat my dessert!  I cruise every 2 years and I really like getting dessert after every meal.  It was on a cruise that I realized that a danish is simply the dessert of breakfast!!!  🙂

  10. I couldn't help myself, but this made me laugh long & loud!  The S&S cards aren't going to make me look any more "touristy" then I look naturally!  I'm a very pale Irish girl, running around the Caribbean, all excited, yelling at her husband yelling "LOOK AT THIS!!!"  and "LOOK AT THAT!!!!" followed by a few "TAKE MY PICTURE WITH __________!!!!!"  I just cant help myself!  Yes, he is a dear to humor me so!!!  Me?  I'm also a hybrid, lanyard in the day, clutch in the evening.

  11. The Mister and I are scheduled to cruise next November.  I hate that it is so far away.  One of the things I really miss are those little sugar cookies.  What is there about those little things?!?!!?  And I've tried to find a copy cat recipe, and I can find none.  Oh, my kingdom for a Carnival Sugar Cookie!!!

  12. The Mister and I just booked a cruise that'll be stopping at Costa Maya.  We are looking at the excursions, but it seems like everything that is NOT walking or drinking has a 240lb limit.  These same type of excursions at other ports do not have these same limits, if there are limits they are more realistic, like 300lbs.  They also seem to have a huge list of medical diagnosis that will keep you from participating in these excursions.  Has anyone experienced this, or know why this is?  I really liked the idea of the Scenic Raft Experience, Swim & Lunch, but never in his life will my 6'4" hubby be 240lb.

  13. We have just gotten home from the Glory.  The moment we boarded, my Hubs steered me to the excursions desk... no lines, no waiting, and we got every excursion we wanted!  Oh, and that OBC goes QUICK!!  After blowing through the $750 covid cash, we still threw another $300 at Carnival. 🙂  Yeah, we really enjoyed our 1st cruise Back to Fun!!!! 🙂   Hey, does anyone have a recipe for those sugar cookies?!?!!  I swear they are made out of graham crackers.......

  14. My husband had a great idea for killing the 8 hours we have between getting off our ship and getting on out flight...  we just dont know if its allowed.   Can you go to the airport, check in your luggage, then leave the airport and come back later?

The last time we cruised we were out of Miami and did an excursion to kill time.  This time, however, we are leaving out of New Orleans, and they dont offer any such excursions.  Yes, we really are very new to this jet setting life style, but we REALLY are enjoying it!!  Any insight or time killing suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

  15. Follow up question from my husband...  Is it allowed to go to the airport, check our luggage, then leave the airport to kill time?  Yes, we really are very new to this jet setting life style, but we REALLY are enjoying it!!

  16. I saw this in a previous post and was hoping if anyone has any more recent first hand experience.  We have 6 hours to kill between leaving the ship and staring the air portion of our trip home.  This looks like it would be a fun time waster, but would that be do-able while pulling around our luggage?  Also, with the covid, is it still running?  It states they are running on a reduced schedule, but it states the flea market is running on Sundays, and we would be there on a Sunday, Oct 24th.   Any input would be greatly appreciated!
