What happens lets say you only owe 1900 but apply 2000 worth of gift cards? Does balance go on sign and sail as a credit or stay on the gift card?

The remaining balance stays on the gift card. You could then take the card onboard with you and apply the remaining balance to your Sign & Sail account at Guest Services or at one of the kiosks.

  2. On the Magic last August we went on the Spa tour on embarkation day and the Thermal Spa was discounted from $150/person for the week to $120/person for the week. This was the first time we used the Thermal Spa and absolutely loved it!

  3. Went to Cucina del Capitano on embarkation day on our Magic cruise and it was free for lunch.  It's a different menu than for dinner.  At lunch it is basically a build your own pasta dish. You are given a sheet of paper where you select your pasta shape, protein, different add-ins, and type of sauce.  We thought it was very tasty! We also went there for dinner one night ($18/person upcharge) and thoroughly enjoyed out meal.

    Interesting! Many thanks.

I like knowing how systems work.

Unlike many others, I don't take systems for granted.

If you have access to Amazon Prime I recommend this video.  One of the most interesting "behind the scenes" documentaries on a cruise ship I've ever seen.  There is an entire segment on provisioning.

  5. If you bring $1000 in cash to the table game you will received $1000 in chips with no fee.  If you sit down at the table and tell them you want $1000 in chips and want to charge it to your Sign & Sail account then you will be charged the 3% fee ($1030 for $1000 in chips). There is no charge for cashing in your chips at the Casino Cashier window regardless of how you purchased them.

I am so annoyed.  I still have over $600 pending on my credit cards from AARP that didn't go through!  When I called, they said it would fall off in a couple of days. Only it hasn't and it has been 4 days.

I had the same issue with a failed AARP pending transaction on my credit card.  Took about 10 days for it to disappear.

Thank you.  I find them when using the search feature, but they aren't listed under merchandise, etc.

This is great!  I need to see how much more I need for my cruise later this month!!

I found them by clicking Use My Points / Gift Cards / Travel.

    Happy sailing!

  8. If you are unfamiliar with the table games in the casino or just want to learn a game you haven't played before check with the casino when you get onboard.  They usually have a time (early in the cruise) when they will teach you the basics of how to play most of the popular table games. You start out with "fake" chips (different colors than real chips) to learn the game. Of course you don't actually win real money when learning.  Some cruises I've been on they will then offer you the ability to purchase "real" chips near the end of the learning session if you want to play for real at lower than normal table stakes (i.e. you can play blackjack for $1/hand if you were there during the learning session). The lower table stakes usually last for about 15 -20 minutes and then after that it's regular table stakes for the rest of the cruise.

    Happy gambling!

  9. If you think you will be a "repeat cruiser" you can do what we did.  Like you I wasn't sure of the value of the Cheers package so two cruises ago we just pretended we had Cheers and ordered whatever we wanted when we wanted it.  At the end of the cruise we went over our Sign & Sail account and added up the total cost of everything we drank (alcohol, botted water, specialty coffees, etc).  In the end it was more that then cost of Cheers.  In addition you can get the discounted Carnival gift cards from the All State Rewards Program (see thread in this forum for details) which reduces the cost by 10%.

I submitted my request to the shareholders e-mail address last week but haven't heard back yet.  The "thank you for contacting CCL" e-mail that I received moments after submitting came back from the Guest Admin address.  I guess they all go to the same place??  I've never paid that much attention to it in the past.  What's the current turn around time for confirmation/denial??

It's been my experience that these requests usually only less than a week but processing of these requests now seems to be taking a bit longer than  before.  I submitted my request on Feb 7th and received the confirmation email that the $100 had been applied to my on-board credit on Feb 20th.

    YMMV

I ordered a few Carnival gift cards through the Allstate rewards program on December 28.  I was surprised when it wasn't an ecard like I got in November.  Even with a 7-10 day delivery, I never received the cards  3 weeks later.  After a few emails and vague comments from Allstate about "experiencing delays shipping orders", they finally cancelled my order and refunded my card.

My question is, has anyone received Carnival gift cards through the Allstate program in the last month?

Yes, I purchased a $1000 physical card from Allstate on 2/2 and received it via UPS yesterday.

  12. 2 Pack Reusable Metal Straws Collapsible Stainless Steel Drinking Straw Portable Telescopic Straw with Case Black/Rose Gold

We got these on Amazon and took them on our cruise last week.  Just clipped them to the lanyard and away we went.  They worked just fine.  They are also small enough to fit in your pocket and come in a variety of colors.
