  1. It is probably 30 mins of walking for us but we are avid walkers. It's also UPHILL so beware. If you want to have an easier time, you could uber from the pier to the garden. The citadel is right next to the garden, and from there back to the ship is downhill and lined with shops
  2. We were doing self tour. The entire walk took is about 2 hrs including shopping stops. They have bus lines that run along the main st, and it's 2.75 CAD per person. So that is an option to save time and/or to reduce walking
  3. This was the interior of the public library. This library is very cool and modern, also has an automated book return system which made my inner nerd giddy. Man I wish I knew about the books. I saw those stores (I think). I love this city, old and modern juxtaposed in a seamless manner
  4. Buffet lunch today. One of the servers did ask "how were the mussels yesterday" 🤭 we told her PEI was better but Sydney's was not bad.
  5. Among the main course, there is definitely at least 1 veg on the menu, but sometimes I see none on appetizer nor dessert. I have heard that the servers will bend over backwards to accomodate you, so maybe this is something you could mention early on and the might have a menu item from a different restaurant or even the buffet to bring to you.
  6. Halifax. Gangway was on deck 2 this time. Plenty of souvenir shops along the boardwalk, esp the giftshop of the Maritime Museum. Also went to the public library, the garden and the citadel. Nice city. The fog did clear up around 10 but came back around 2.
  7. 7 am abs class absolutely killed me. Mad respect for the manager who could do it while counting. I was barely conscious. Last night was so rocky, I heard loud noises from the hallway and our bathroom shower opened too. It was also super foggy going into Halifax. The image below was when the boat was MOVING. I cant imagine how the captain was able to see anything. MDR breakfast today. Eggs benedict, corned beef hash. Passion fruit yogurt and quinoa bowl. The eggs benedict were great, and passion fruit yogurt also good (which is a repeat from room service the other day). The quinoa bowl was too healthy for me 🙃
  8. Oh hmm I actually have not heard anything re: covid cases, so most likely it is the "nothing to see" approach. If there is a covid section, I have not seen it. My guess would be on deck 1, because we are on deck 2 and we havent seen a "roped off" section on this deck.
  9. Definitely dancing to this band is a thing here. DW is pretty shy so we dont do that a lot lol but I see many couples do
  10. Sorry I cant comment on the band that much. On the few times I pass by, they sounded good but I dont usually stay there for long. And I also dont know about the happy hour rules as we have a drink package so we never really used the discounts
  11. Dinner tonight. Salmon trio (very good!), spring roll, and french onion soup. Cobia and lamb shank. It was my first time eating cobia, I like it, very firm but not as flaky. Lamb was tender. Passion fruit cake and sunday. Also a painting in a stair landing that I thought was cool.
  12. When and where for tomorrow, towel lobster, and also gym class schedule (I picked it up first day but didnt scan it until just now)
  13. Mix bar tonight. Someone asked about her name. Uhh I couldnt really make out the name but it sounded like Claire V or Clara V. She is good... Also view from the seat nearby. 20220608_215225.mp4
  14. Ok thanks for the info. Yeah PG last night was pretty good (not excellent), but if I were to get a terrible experience after paying that much I'd be really mad too. Thing is, MDR has consistently delivered for me and that is included with the cruise fare.
  15. Humm is the right reaction lol. It was small and dry. I only nibbled at each snack because we were still full from lunch, but the ambiance was good, calming and relaxing.
  16. Crow's Nest lounge. They are getting ready for the Orange Party tonight.
  17. Sydney visitor center from atop the ship, and afternoon tea in the MDR
  18. This is the right idea. I would then tap the arrow at the top right and see if you can make it fullscreen view.
  19. Oh hmm it is colder than I thought. Definitely bring a windbreaker. It was 50s but windy. Even on the ship it can be very windy. DW was complaining that the lounges run colder than "comfy" so she brought a throw anywhere on the ship. On the lido deck, next to where you would get free towels, they provide free blankets/throws.
  20. Half the time I view it from the app and then click "fullscreen" and take a screenshot that way. The other half, I am in the actual MDR and then take a picture with my phone. I am using Samsung S21, and there is an option to "scan" a document so they remove parts that are outside of the menu. The first method usually turns out better unless I really want to showcase the particular font/layout of today's menu
  21. Ok if you mean on the buffet, there are 2 stations. Each station always has chocolate and vanilla, and there are 2 or 3 other flavors and these are different and rotating. Say the left one has coconut, the right one has pistachio, you can get a combo by bringing your cup/cone from the left one to the right one. So far I've seen strawberry, dark cherry, pistachio, coconut, coffee.
  22. I just checked last night and found that there is no ESPN 😓
  23. Lido lunch. The special was fish tacos. They had lamb, fried fish etc as well. The menthol gelee from MDR the other night is back! I used it for the chicken, it works. Cobb salad. The salad here is served (not self serve). You just point at what you want and they mix it in for you. Generally most things in the buffet are served, but several condiments / accoutrements and the cold cuts are self-serve.
  24. Sydney today. Docking was at 8 but we didnt leave ship until closer to noon because things wouldnt open that early anyways. It is a nice little town. There are craft and art stalls in the visitor center and right outside, and there are good shops along town as well. Like yesterday, we got lobster roll and mussels to go and ate it on the lido by the pool. They were not as good as the ones from Charlottetown. The lobster was a bit tough. When we got back on the ship around 1, the lido deck and buffet were crowded. I guess people also didn't spend that much time on the port.
  25. There are hair dryers and you do not have to hold the button. It's an on/off switch type. They also provide a makeup mirror if you need that... They also provide 2 bath robes which I end up using a lot in the room. I saw people use them on the lido deck by the pool too. There are also 2 towels but given how easy it is to get towels, I didn't end up using these 2. No fridge for deck 1 and 2 rooms, only on deck 6 and 7 (aka suites and above). Plenty of hangers and hanging space (which can be used to store suitcases too)
