  1. Hello:

This question may or may not have been asked already but here goes:

I am trying to book a November 28, 2016 cruise on-line and it appears that the only dining choice left is select dining which comes up automatically and also doesn't work for us. The online reservation automatically adds the surcharge/gratuity as well. Is there any way around this?

    Thanks

  2. We are planning a cruise to the Galapagos in April 2017. Now with the Zika Virus in headlines, has anyone who's also going to that area of SA changing plans or taking any kind of precautions? The pregnancy issue is not a concern to my husband and I ;)

    Thanks

  3. Sandals marketing is better than the product. Have a look at Excellence Resorts. 7 or 8 restaurants. Good miles better, drinks top shelf and cheaper.

The Excellence Resorts are fantastic as are the Secrets Resorts! We've been to both and would go back in a heart beat!

  4. Inner Loop goes to North Seymour, where the Blue-Footed Boobies and Frigate Birds nest (and do their mating rituals) starting in May (and apparently continuing until now, with both chicks and blue-foot dances going on). Outer Loop gets the Waved Albatross on Espanola Island starting in April. Otherwise both loops give a good cross-section of geology and wildlife.

Thanks for your reply. We are looking at either March 2017 (outer loop) or April 2017 (inner loop). They sure book up fast for being so far in advance.

  5. We are planning a cruise to the Galapagos Islands. We can't decide between inner and outer loop itineraries. Any suggestions or comments would be most helpful!

    Thanks

    Maureen

  6. I try to provide information for all, that means lots of things that some may not like and others will. So it's all good, it just might take sometime to get to the info some want.

Thank you for the support and kind words :)

I have only read one in-depth review before and that was by cruisinggatorgirl (Ashley, I hope I got that right). Now it's your's Gambee, and just like Ashley's, I hope it doesn't come to an end. Totally riveting!!!! :D I can't wait to have enough time to read your other reviews. For me, reading about someone's experience on a ship is more interesting than a review of a port. Port reviews are a dime a dozen but a review of day to day life on the ship is far more exciting!!! Keep up the great review Gambee! :):)

  7. BCN Airport: I am writing this entry from the airport waiting for our flight to Paris. The sadness is going away now, now that Paris is at my fingertips. We are flying Air France to Paris, they were awesome at the check-in counter. They did not care about weight or that we had an extra bag (we planned on all flights after cruise having 1 extra bag). We also all got upgraded to first class! WOOHOO! Too bad we got the upgrade on our shortest flight, but hey, I will take it! The airport is very hot and none of the ATM’s are working, NONE. Security was a nightmare and gave my dad a hard time about his medications, but we made it through eventually. The fight was pretty smooth and we got a meal since we were in first class.

    Ashley:

How in the heck did you get upgraded to 1st class? What's your secret??? I know, it's probably that fantastic smile of yours!!!!

  8. Ashley!

Please, please, please go on another trip! I don't care what kind....cruise, land vacation, all inclusive, I don't care. I just want to keep reading your reviews! I am addicted to your narrative style.:D:D

Did you make it into Louis Vuitton? I collect LV purses and small bits. I try to buy a purse in every major city I visit if there is a LV store. Next stop for me is Singapore in 11 days. The Louis Vuitton store there is on it's own island!!!:):)

  9. Yes we did have a garment bag. However it was shared between my fiance and I. I put 2 of my 3 LONG dresses in the garment bag. The blue beaded dress and gray bridesmaid dress both were in the garment bag. The long black one and everything else was in the suitcase.

Tyler used the garment bag as his carry on (in addition to a backpack). The back pack was the "personal item" and the garment bag was the carry-on. We each checked one suitcase.

I used a backpack also and had a small rolling suitcase that I was able to fit all my shoes (13 pairs!), electronics (blow dryer, straighter, etc), and belts.

We packed very smartly and I spent a lot of time researching how to pack... go figure. Since I put all my shoes and electronics in carry-on bags my suitcase was actually under weight by quite a bit and had a lot of room left (i had the biggest size suitcase allowed).

Wow Ashley!!! You so have to have your own blog on these kinds of things. I'll make sure DH reads this tonight just so he can see that it can be done!!! Can you suggest any sites for packing tips that you used for research? We leave on a Solstice cruise from Singapore to Sydney on November 23 so I'm starting to get really antsy about packing! I'm usually a "night before packer" but not this time.

  10. Hi Ashley!

I am really enjoying your posts and perhaps it's a good thing that you feed our imaginations gradually. It gives everyone something to look forward to and savour!!!:) Your family looks marvelous dahling! ;) You would make a fabulous cruise ship ambassador. We are sailing off on the Solstice on November 23rd from Singapour to Sydney. As I've never been on a S-class ship before, you really whet my appetite!!:D
