  1. Been awhile since we cruised. I know the gratuities are included but wondering how much cash you bring for additional tips...drinks, porters. extra $ for steward or whomever you feel deserves an extra tip, excursion tips and souvenirs....

Thinking at least 100 in singles plus other smaller bills....

    Thoughts?  Thank you

My wife and I will be on the Adventure in a few weeks.  We have MTD and I have reservations for each day.  How do I ensure we get a table for 2 each evening?  My reservations are not all at the same time although most are within 30 min of each other.

First time RCL cruisers.  With other cruise lines getting a table with MTD or the equivalent has not been difficult at all.  I am trying to set expectations to avoid frustration and disappointment.

Should I go to the MDR on embarkation day and tip the person at the desk and ask for a specific table?  Would it do any good or will we just be subject to the luck of the draw as to which table we get each night?

I would appreciate any advice on how to make this happen.  The early dining just seemed too early and the late dining too late.  Otherwise I would have chosen one of those.

We have always gone to MDR on the date of embarkation to confirm we are a party of 2 and confirm our times. We have also changed some times because we could not get the times we wanted pre-cruise. We have never tipped to do this.

Yeah the Chef's Choice until just recently was a plate of stale cookiies.  Pretty pathetic.  But I think they got enough complaints about that..and now it's slightly better with a banana or some strawberries (which my husband is allergic to).

    oh no!!

    Thank you everyone!

Keep a list of what is in each bag you drop off and take photos. RC did right by us, but the process would have been easier had we done wht I said.

Did RC loose your luggage? Before cruise? any idea wht happened?

  5. Also posted in Tobago board.....

Still undecided whether or not we will be getting off the ship in Tobago but if we do, we were looking at this excursion thru RCL? The description is rather vague. I would assume travel to and from the beach would be included. Anyone experience this? How was the beach?

    Thanks

I just received a letter reminding me about the benefits I recieve with purchasing the Key.

I thought it was interesting that they say to arrive between 11:30 and 12:00 for early access to the terminal...  My Checkin time is 10:30

I realize it's a form letter but you'd think they could at least customize it with actual times that are available.

I have yet to receive a letter for The Key. When is your sailing?

Yes we ate dinner with a couple who told us a lot of tours were cancelled in Tobago. The tour to the waterfall went on as planned and someone sprained their ankle needing medical. They also stated an armed Tobago police officer accompanied them and he was wearing a bullet proof vest. Another cruiser also told us the walk to the waterfall was treacherous.

Honestly there was nothing built for tourists at the port. We watched the dancing when the ship docked from the ocean view cafeteria. There were tourism officials on the boat with a police officer who was talking on the phone and he looked intimidating. I assumed they were touring the boat.

The couple who took the waterfall tour told us they wondered if the police officer was on the bus to protect them from being kidnapped. Her words.

I wonder why the tours were really cancelled. Taxi drivers no showing ???? They need money.

Interesting and scary. Thanks for sharing

  8. From what I have just read, not a good start for one of the first ships that stopped in Tobago.

Maxis a no-show: Tobago tours cancelled

THE start of Tobago’s 2023/2024 cruise ship season hit a snag on Saturday. There was a lot of dancing at the Scarborough Port but in the midst of the dancing, pan music and moko jumbies, there was disappointment as pre-booked tours for 300 tourists were cancelled due to the non-arrival of maxi-taxis.

According to the Division of Tourism, when the Celebrity Silhouette docked at the Port of Scarborough it marked the start of a season with an impressive line-up of approximately 70 scheduled calls, bringing a total of 116,906 passengers to Tobago.

The cancellation of tours comes even as drivers were informed since October of the inaugural arrival of the Celebrity Silhouette, cruise line agent Charles Carvalho told the Express.

Camo or camouflage military style clothing is not allowed in: The Bahamas Jamaica Barbados Grenada St.Lucia Dominica

This includes back packs too, apparently.  I had not heard of this previously nor have I seen it posted here, and just noted an article about it in the Miami Herald

I knew Barbados did not allow it. Good to know. I must say, neither myself or my husband have to worry about it as we don't usually dress that way
