Super Bowl has taken place in the theater. We were on Edge in 2019 and Eclipse in 2018. They set the theater up with one side rooting for each team. There was “tailgate” type food at the back of the theater and of course drinks flowed - not FREELY - but for regular charge based on drink packages. The theater had very good crowds and people were quite vocal in their support. You should have a great time and if your favorite team is in the game bring along your team gear to wear.

    Perfect.
now we have an idea want to expect. Thanks.

  2. If all goes as planned (COVID not changing plans) we will be boarding the Edge on Super Bowl Sunday. I am curious if we could expect some sort of SB party or areas to watch the game. As we all know the SB falls right smack in the heart of dinner so we most likely will opt to skip our 8:30 seating in the MDR. I’m not at all worried about missing any meal since there are so many ways to grab a bite to eat I am just wondering if the ship does anything centered around the game that we can look forward to. After all I expect my team (NY Giants) to be in the game so I will not want to miss it…

ok ok perhaps a stretch for the Giants to be in it. We can at least look forward to the commercials. Lol.

  3. Can somebody guide us on the size of the balcony for 7112? Is it smaller than other Verandas?  The square footage appears to be the same but the image gives us the impression the balcony is smaller. We may want to change staterooms. We have 7112 booked but are worried the balcony is too small. Just an illusion?

  4. Just off Summit. Definitely a grill in ocean view.
Yes there is ice cream including soft serve but not 24/7.
Making a 10am flight? Why put yourself thru that stress. Pick a different time. Must have other options.
the entertainment was outstanding those that say otherwise I question what they saw or what they expect in the middle of the Caribbean. We enjoyed all the shows in the theater. I will post some videos shortly on you tube.

The only way that I know of to book directly through Celebrity is using the Celebrity website or on board a Celebrity or Royal Caribbean ship. That's apparently how your Summit reservation must have occurred and is set up (no travel agent).

When you do that, Celebrity allows you a short period of time to transfer the booking to a travel agent. This allows you to get additional incentives from the TA (e.g. on board credit, bonus freq flyer miles, gift card, etc) that will be added to your booking.

Your Constellation reservation must have been booked through the airline or its credit card website in order get the additional miles so they became the travel agent of record.

you are correct on both points...

We booked the Summit online using the Celebrity website. We never transferred to TA or better yet we did not know to transfer.

The Connie was booked while signed into our credit card account. Now I understand who the TA is for this booking.

I think the answers you got were pretty good.

I would definitely drop by the Future Cruises office when you are aboard Summit and look into whether the current Celebrity offers coupled with the onboard booking incentive make it worth your while to cancel your existing Constellation reservation and rebooking it through them

Just know that whoever you booked your Summit reservation through will automatically be assigned to your new reservation unless you sign a form that states you do not want them assigned (this then gives you the right to shop your booking to a different agent within a fixed period of time).

This exercise will be good for you and even if you change nothing, you'll be more prepared if you decide to book your next cruise during your Constellation sailing.

    thanks

we booked the Summit Cruise direct with Celebrity, no TA. Our confirmation for the new booking (paperwork) also came from Celebrity so I did not realize that a TA was involved with the new booking so I did not intend to mention by name.

But your are correct...a good exercise.

Just a word of caution.  The Cruise Critic guidelines for participation do not allow us to post travel agent or agencies names.  If you are interested in getting info and suggestion on agencies a good place is by asking others on your cruise for recommendations.

    thanks...i will edit post.

oops looks as though I cannot edit. Can a mod delete it?

As far as the Connie cruise, you cannot transfer it to a Travel Agent since you already have a TA--United Cruises.

As far as booking on the Summit, it may be less than your current booking, the same or more since prices fluctuate frequently. If you book it on the Summit, cancel your current booking with United, you could then turn around and transfer the new booking to United but would you get the mileage bonus?  Dunno.  For us, not sure it would be worth going through all that to get the minimal benefit you might get by booking onboard.  Which varies by type of cruise.

So...I guess we do have a travel agent...LOL.

I guess we will see what is offered on board. The mileage thing expired yesterday and is not a deal breaker. As we all know it takes a lot of miles to have any real value but we do use them for flights. A better price and giving up miles is not the end of the world.

    Thanks for your insight.

Make not of the pricing and value of the cruise you have including all perks and miles etc.

Wait until you are onboard and visit the future cruise desk. You will have to see what the pricing and deal is on the day you visit to compare and calculate if it is worth rebooking. Until you have all the figures before you no one can say if you will be better off or not.

thank you this makes sense. I think our upcoming Summit cruise price changed 3 times after we booked with promotional sales we took advantage of since original booking.

  10. We have not been on our first cruise yet with Celebrity but will be on the Summit in 3 weeks. Of all the cruise lines that are available we feel Celebrity is the right one for us and we want to stay loyal to. Especially since we appreciate what they have done to rectify the Valentine booking we had with Tuscan and chose not to hits us with a cancellation and the new $119 price tag...:).

So we booked the Connie for October out of Venice to Rome. We booked this thru United Cruises since we were able to get 7 miles per dollar spent. We earn and use a lot of miles each month so why not get another source to participate at 7 miles per $.

So being a rookie at this I have frequently seen topics that include once booked to transfer to a travel agent? Which we do not have nor do I know why we would do this transfer thing.

I have also seen topics on waiting to book "on board". Not sure why but we are on the Summit in 3 weeks. Is there any advantage to cancelling and rebooking once on board?

Any thoughts from those with experience, or simply just have the knowledge, as to what we should do if anything? We are ok with just leaving things as they are but I will like to avoid a "rookie" mistake.

    Thanks...

  11. Celebrity has listened and has done the correct thing in my opinion.

I need to clarify the menu for that evening as I am not a fan of what they were advertising.

    Dear Valued Guest,

You may have received an email from Celebrity Cruises yesterday advising you on a change to your Specialty Dining Reservation.

There is no change to your original Specialty Dining Reservation for February 14, 2020 and there is no action necessary.

We apologize for any confusion this has caused.

We look forward to welcoming you on board for your Valentine’s Day Sailing.

Peter118 - Did you Call Celebrity about this issue?

If if you read the link in Post 19, KurtMo had the same problem in Murano and the customer service rep refunded his payment, booked him on a different night PLUS gave him OBC to cover the cost of his dinner on the new night. He basically got a free dinner. This was totally Celebrities error by not recognizing February 14 was Valentines Day. It happens on the same day every year. Changing this a month before your cruise is not acceptable. Give it a try and use his experience and resolution in your “argument “.  Good Luck

Yes called Celebrity. Made opinion known and was not offered anything nor did I care. I canceled.

but... I believe there is a new email that now says “we are sorry”. It was a mistake and they have retracted their demands. Lol.

will update here if this is true.

  13. cancelled our reservation...Celebrity offered nothing. I was told that this was "normal" for Tuscan and Murano that these restaurants have something "very special" on the menu for that evening.

WHAT!!!!!! You call this menu "special"??? OMG...It's lame. Were we born yesterday?

Oh well...too rich for my blood. create a menu worth 240 bucks and you may have me at "hello"...but for now its "see ya".

Tempted to cancel all my specialty dining...

We were notified that our original reservation at Murano (on Equinox) would not be honored, that a special event meal was being held on Valentine's Day, and that we could switch to another night or pay to "upgrade" to this menu (at a price of $119pp).  My wife would hardly consider white chocolate anything an upgrade 😂  We changed nights!  Trying to attach the menu...

    Murano Valentine's Menu.gif

well...they are out of their minds! $119pp for this menu. NO THANKS!

    Appreciate you posting this.

    thank you KurtMo

  15. boy...let this resonate...an additional $240 per couple to dine. Now don't get me wrong, we have dropped a couple hundred on dinner before but it at least included a bottle of wine. I do not know what could possibly be served to warrant this price tag. even a surf and turf will not justify this in my mind.

Better yet...it appears to be a mystery since they are not even indicating what the $240 will provide? At least the $45 (or $90 per couple) you know what your options are since the menu is on the app and documented numerous places. The $119pp is mind boggling in my opinion.

In a few short sentences, what is your favorite week-long cruise destination and why? For context, I am asking about cruises in which child entertainment is not necessary.

While I'm in no position to claim a "7 day cruise' couldn't be a favorite as I have never been on a cruise I will say Alaska is on my list. We however selected our upcoming itinerary for the" port a day" with sea day on the last day as we are active and will be snorkeling, hiking, sailing, ATV and playing golf. That last sea day will be used to recover.  Yup...I have that First time enthusiasm...wont be long I'll prefer those 10 plus day cruises with plenty of relaxation. Our next circled cruise is Mediterranean for 10 days on the Connie after refurb...

Any thoughts or feedback on recent Puerto Rico earthquakes? Looking for reassurance from anyone who is there this week. We are scheduled to fly to San Juan on Monday and on Tuesday will sail on Celebrity Summit. I was really looking forward to this trip, but I am so wishing this cruise was leaving from Florida.  If we weren't sailing with another couple, I would be tempted to contact our insurance to see if we could cancel! We are frequent cruisers and travelers but have not experienced a situation like this. Thanks.

I understand no disruption at the port in San Juan but you may want to check your itinerary as the summit leaves on Saturday not Tuesday.

We learned to remove what we needed at the next port either the night before or early enough, since if you have a tour meeting at 8:30am and try to open the safe at 8:15, there probably won't be enough time for the desk to send someone to your cabin in time.

    Good tip. Thanks.
