  1. Feeling totally gobsmacked at the size and complexity of this thing. So far everyone is lovely! And we have all mutually agreed to not shake hands on board which is hilarious.

Luggage delivery has been a little 😬 fraught so far. I found my bag halfway down the hall in front of someone else's room, and Husby's bag still hasnt shown up yet. We wiped down all the hard surfaces in the room and I have bagged the remote control...insane though he believes me to be, I am hoping we do not have to use our first aid kit!

RC left a bottle of champs and two glasses in our room which was lovely! The little card says "Enjoy your new life together." 🥰 The ice was nearly entirely melted when we got here so I plan to ask for a refill so we can enjoy later. The drink package came with a double walled reusable Coke cup, so I'm super excited for that!

Shout out to the two ladies we met at muster drill! Hoping to see you tomorrow at the meet and greet, sorry the embarkation meeting didnt happen.

Already hit up the rock climbing wall, looking forward to doing it again soon!

  2. Getting underway with Grandeur of the Seas! 12 day cruise to the Caribbean. Our stops have been modified to Puerto Rico, St Maarten, Dominica, Barbados, and St Kitts and Nevis. Make sure to check out DragonoftheSeas' live for their B2B on the Grandeur!

Already I have forgotten a few things--my Japanese textbooks, a pair of sunglasses (🙈), and a few other small things. Oh well. We will survive, and persevere!

With the more intensive check ins, there was a bit of delay. The hand sanitizers are very aggressive (appreciated, but I just did it 10 feet back!). Boarding was pushed back an hour from 11AM to 12PM. We bought The Key, which was supposed to come with Chop's lunch at the MDR from 11:30-1:30. Unfortunately they didn't adjust the mealtime--understandable, since they have to prep for dinner. The woman at the entry way signed us up for a Chop's lunch tomorrow instead which was lovely 😃 we have been exploring the ship for most of the afternoon.

Captain Patrick just wrapped up our drill and we are about to make weigh. We are staying in the Chesapeake overnight to wait out waves from a big storm up the coast. We aren't heading into the Atlantic until tomorrow evening! 😲

    Vacation had started!

They'll let you cancel.  The purpose of the new policy is so people don't have to choose between their health and money spent.

No, the new policy lets you cancel up to 48 hours before departure. Since we leave today, we aren't in that range.

  4. We are leaving tomorrow, still planning to go. I don't blame anyone who wants to do otherwise! There are certainly theoretical risks when you choose to cruise to begin with, and it's certainly reasonable for any person to say that This Specific Circumstance is the line at which they draw their risk tolerance.

It's our first cruise and our honeymoon...even if we *could* cancel (less than 48-hours, so no go from RC), it's a hard thing to reschedule. Emotionally, if not even schedule-wise.

Is the state notifying the other passengers from the cruise that returned 2/20?  Are they testing the crew?  Very scary.

Lol. Who knows? The state isn't telling anyone publicly ANYTHING about where these people live (aside from the county, and it is a very large county), what cruise line they were on, what port they sailed out of, or even what ports they traveled to. Just that they did Normal Life Routine Things for a bit until beginning to feel ill, which means who knows who might have been exposed, because the state isn't saying anything!
