Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Thank you JB, this is exactly the kind of advice I was looking for ! Cheers !
  2. Hello Everyone, I have been looking for the following information and perhaps it's already mentioned somewhere in a previous post however I'm not very familiar with using the Cruise Critic site. We will be in Amalfi on Oct 20th from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm and then Sorrento, Oct 21st from 7:30 am to 8:00 pm. We have tried to book a private or group tour to tour the Amalfi coast from either of these locations but they all see to be booked ? Also we would like to visit Pompeii, Capri, as well as spend some time in the towns of Amalfi and Sorrento themselves. Additionally many of the tours offer stops in either Amalfi and or Sorrento and we will already be there with Azamara. As we're travelling in October we have no interest in swimming and again many boat tours offer this option, also we have no desire to go to the Blue Grotto. We are a couple in our mid-sixties and are fit and can easily handle a full day tour but would prefer not to part of a big bus load of passengers. Would appreciate any recommendations you could send our way. Have reached out to the roll call but so far there's no planned excursions with the other passengers. TIA
  3. Thank you for the recommendation, hotel looks great but unfortunately it seems they have no availability for our dates. Will keep trying.
  4. Thanks, checked on the Hotel Brunelleschi and although it looks beautiful its also $1700 cdn for 2 nights which is a bit too pricey for us. We're looking at more like $200-$250 cdn/night including breakfast. We were looking at Laconda La Corte in Venice but we really have no idea where to stay. Have been checking this site, booking, trip advisor etc. We'll be arriving at Marco Polo airport and staying for 4 nights before departing on a cruise. The search continues.....😀
  5. Hello cruisemom42, I have spent the better part of 2 days reading your reviews and suggestions, everything is so helpful. I have booked one of the hotels you recommended in Rome and am so excited to visit. I was hoping you could recommend a 3 * hotel with breakfast or B&B in Venice and Florence as well. TIA.
  6. Thank you for your advice, I'll check Rick Steve's guide for the list of closures.
  7. We are arriving at the cruise terminal in Rome on Oct 22/23 and will be flying out of Rome on Oct 28/23. During this time we would like to see the main sites in the city as well as a couple of days in Florence. We were thinking of spending the first 3 nights in Rome storing our luggage at a hotel for 2 days while we take the train to Florence and then returning to Rome, same hotel for our last night before leaving for the airport the next morning. Would welcome some advise suggestions on whether this sound like a good plan? Would it be better to visit Florence at the beginning or end of our stay? Also if you have some suggestions for accommodations they would be much appreciated. TIA
