  1. Got an email from Oana yesterday. Her info is that Mario will return to SR after his vacation. Now, we all know that CruiseCritic folk always know things before shipboard people.

    Que sera, sera.

We had Mario on the Serenade back in October. We found him to be very attentive and very nice. We got at least 1 voice mail a day that always started with.... Hello beautiful people on the beautiful Serenade of the Seas.

  2.

Is there a charge to use pool towels now? Can you just get a towel and return it without having to show an ID for charging ?

There is only a charge if you do not return your towel. You initially put the towel(s) on your seapass and when they are returned the seapass is cleared of any charge.

You can swap a wet towel for a dry one without having to use your seapass. It is a straight one for one exchange.

That said there have been a few threads here where people who returned their towels ended up with a charge on their credit card when they received their next statement.

Rule of thumb is to get a receipt from the pool towel attendant at the end of your cruise showing that you have a zero towel balance.

  3. We have had 3 aft cabins on the Radiance class (7172, 1102, 1100) and we have sailed with people who were in 8168. We have 8168 on the Serenade for the T/A next April.

Yes it is a bit of a walk but it is no that far. My wife has had 2 knee replacements and we recently sailed with a friend who had her hip replaced about 3 months prior to the cruise. They were in 7172 which is right below 8168. Niether of them found the walk too far. We love the view from the aft, there is almost no hall noise and we never had a problem with too little sun or it being too hot.

I try to book afts first. Try it, see if you like it.

  4. We had 7652 on Radiance last year on our 14 night Ultimate Alaska cruise. One side of the balcony is the regular width with the full divider between it and 7650. at about the halfway point of the balcony length, the balcony juts out another 3 feet or so in width and stays out until it meets with the balcony of 7654. On the side with 7654, the divider between the balconies has the full divider about halfway to the edge and then it is the railing between the 2 balconies for the rest of the width. The cabin was in a nice quiet area of the ship and the extra space on the balcony was nice. I am attaching 2 pictures I took of the balcony.

We were on the same cruise last year. My sister and BIL had 7152. Excellent balcony for the view. You cannot look straight down as there is a covering for the lifeboats that juts out some distance from the edge of your balcony. It is a big balcony and my sister loved it.

  5. Hi - I am going on the Liberty of the Seas. May I put a few sodas and waters in my checked luggage? Does anyone know RCCl policy on this? Thanks for all the help.

Technicially you are not supposed to bring any on board but I was not stopped hand carrying on a 6 pack of Dr Pepper in Sept but someone who carried on a case of 24 Dr Pepper had it taken. As for a few in your luggage. If they detect the bottles during the scan you may get called to the naughty room to get your luggage as they may think it is liquor. After that it is a crap shoot if they take it or not. I would carry them in my carry on if possible.

RCI is not always consistent as to how they follow policy.

  6. We also did a poker run which was a lot of fun. The person with the best hand got 80% of the pot and the person with the worst hand got 20%. I had planned for 25 people and we had almost 40 on the cabin crawl/poker run so print off 2X the copies of anything you need. We had a great time and everyone stayed to the last cabin.

Some people brought treats from home. We brought Crispy Crunch bars which are a Canadian thing. The Aussies brought little clip on Kangaroos and there were a few more things.

  7. great question jjtt.

I have never been on a Crawl with a M&M group. I've been on visitations and done them with travel partners.... that's different though.

So? My question is for those who's cabins you visit. Do they stay in the stateroom and welcome people? If so when do THEY get to visit the other staterooms?

    Tell us more..... :-)

All the people visit all the staterooms. Sometimes people miss a stateroom if they are up next so they can be in their stateroom before anyone arrives, but not always. Cabin crawls and poker runs are a lo of fun and are pretty casual. No-one gets their knickers in a knot of they have to wait a minute ot two for the occupants to arrive.

  8. We have been to Costa Maya 3 times and the last 2 times we rented a golf cart. They were located out the back where the buses were parked. We have not been since the hurricane so I am not sure if they are still there. Anyone?

When you rent the gold cart you drive into Majahual and you can go anywhere you want. It WAS $16.00 per hour or $60.00 for all day. We went about 10 miles past Majahual on the coast road. Had a great time.

  9. We had 1102 for a 15 day Hawaiian circle cruise. On 2 consecutive nights we we woken up around 4AM by scraping noises from the Windjammer. The crew was moving something heavy. Each time the noises lasted for about 30 minutes. That said I would take an aft anytime on the Radiance class. There are no better balconies than an aft on the Radiance class. We have 1100 booked in April and 7172 in Sept. Enjoy your aft!!!!

  10. The Triton is a natural predator of the Crown of Thorns. The Crown of Thorns destroys reefs. If we buy the Triton shells more will be harvested for "inventory". If we don't buy them then they won't harvest any more of these animals. So far the Crown of Thorns is in the Pacific and Indian Oceans but they do move around.

Please read the following. See Natural Predators (Giant Triton)
