We just left the Solstice on July 1st following a B2B set.  I never keep the Celebrity Today planners, but the naturalist onboard is Brent Nixon.  His wife is also onboard presenting her programs.

I was on board starting on July 1-8 and he was not with us then.

I think it is hit or miss. Some cruises seem relatively full and others are half empty. I am not sure of the reason but I would guess Celebrity can see the correlation. For example my cruise on Edge next month is less than half full if you can believe the available cabins displayed on the Celebrity site. If the ships fill back up again there will be no reason for Celebrity to drop the testing requirement. If not, then there will be a major business reason to drop it.

`If other lines besides Viking drop pre-cruise testing maybe celebrity will follow. I know tons of folks (myself included) that hate the extra stress of the test 2 days before the cruise--takes away a measure of the joy of anticipation and replaces it with some anxiety. I understand why they do it of course.

Vaccinations are a must. Testing is a good thing. At least you have some reassurance that most people are negative at the start of your cruise. However, since Celebrity doesn’t test or scan temperatures after that, it’s likely that Covid has made it on to the ship during the cruise.  Also, people on the cruise are less likely to keep distance or be Covid cautious. Crowded elevators, shared tables, pushing in lines, etc. happens.  Celebrity has its protocols which are good. Sadly, not being followed by many passengers.  Sailing now and will test after I disembark.  Just hope that I haven’t picked up Covid.

Why would it matter if you had covid if you had to test in order to know it? Wouldn't that mean you felt fine? Not trying to be snarky. Just wondering when this starts to be treated like a cold that one gets but keeps going on with life as usual. For the record, I'm not saying go hang out in a nursing home or anything.

  4. All of the desserts on the Le Petit Chef menus seem kind of lame (especially for the price of the experience). I know it is possible to pick a dessert off the alternate menu, but has anyone tried to get one of the MDR desserts instead?

We just came back from the 5/27 sailing.  There was some slight evidence of staffing issues.  We did not see evidence of supply chain issues on this most recent cruise.  Very nice, and we had exceptional weather so that made up for any slight issues.  We had a great time.

How full did the ship seem? Was the buffet handling the bigger passenger numbers with staff serving effectively? Did you go to any of the shows? Any recommendations?

  6. I have seen so many reports from other Celebrity ships, but info on Solstice is sparing. I'm wondering how her start up has been and if she is having the staffing and supply issues that have been reported on Eclipse. I'd love to know what shows are in the theater, who is the Captain...so many questions! 😄 How full have the Alaska sailings been?

  7. I was just on the phone with customer service yesterday because on the website it shows my room number next to and oceanview room when that room number is a veranda room. I called to make sure they had not switched something on me. At the end of April they made a new Solstice promotional video that makes it look like the Veranda rooms and up had been giving soft goods upgrades and people are saying all the rooms are still red. Some say confusing...some misleading.

I fly in the day before and Uber to my Hotel.  I then Uber to the ship and Uber from ship to airport upon return.  I see and experience all of Seattle that I want to.  I did once take a city bus from the North side down to the Museum of Flight.  Nice museum.  "Interesting" bus ride.  And this was years ago.

Do you have to make reservations to use uber or can you just do it when you land?

I have twice as many as I need, just to be safe!

I also bought some more Liquid I.V. as I found that to be useful on my last cruise.

    How are the 2 different?
