  2. Thank you!  Great tips.  I usually take some food with me on vaca to stay keto.  Coconut flour wraps are easy to pack and I can always find meat/cheese/veggies to fill them in the buffet.  I've even used them to make breakfast wraps.

Not that most people would take food ONTO a cruise ship, lol.

    Excellent thread!

Thanks for your understanding. You seem to get the point of the post. I’m getting exhausted defending everything. People tend to knit pick things. I hesitated to post this and I’m starting to regret it. Sigh.

I appreciate you being strong enough to let fellow cruisers know about your experiences.  I have learned a lot on CC over the years and appreciate knowing what may happen on a  cruise vacation.  It's sometimes difficult wading through the "mud" on some threads.   I truly feel for you and your partner and hope for happy sailings in the future.

I had occasion to stay at the Residence Inn a little over a week ago, pre Anthem.

My stay was fine, not bad, not fantastic but the room was clean, I slept well, the shuttle to/from EWR was fine and no real issues.

The hotel was redone a few years ago and it's getting a little beaten up but it is NOT horrible.

As an FYI....a friend of mine was at the Ramada/Ramada Plaza yesterday and noticed a VERY nice white jeep sitting on cinder blocks!  ALL FOUR wheels/tires had been stolen!!!  (I saw the photos that my friend took, but I've not gotten permission to share them yet.)

That parking lot DOES have some sort of security about 100 feet away, but still....this is really bad!  That hotel is one that's often suggested here BUT be warned!  If you have fancy wheels on your car, consider parking someplace else.

There is a new (less than 6 months old) Home2Suites by Hilton located on Route 1 & 9, adjacent to the Springhill Suites, Fairfield Inn and Courtyard Newark Airport (those hotels are NOT near Jersey Gardens) and it may be a good option.  I do not see a park n cruise package yet.

Close to the pier, a new Costco should be opening in the next month or so.  It appears that the last thing to be done will be the gas station part, and when my local Costco was being built, once they got to the gas section, it opened around a month later.

There is a sign on that building that said LIQUOR SALES so you may be able to get wine there once it opens.  My Costco doesn't sell booze so I am not sure of the details.

    That's all for now!

What city is the new Costco in?  I see one in Union on Hudson Street.  Is there one opening closer to the pier?  Thank you!!!

  5. We chose to have 1 person per stateroom but if I was traveling with teens I would get it for them - or anyone else who likes to do things apart from the group. We have found that it is hard to communicate exclusively with stateroom telephone messages and the text app helped out all week.

  6. Just off the Jade today. We used the messaging ($9.99 per phone for the whole week). It came in handy - only thing we noticed is that there is only a short audible for each incoming text. We would have to go into the app, hit the message "bubble" then read the text. It did not work until a few hours into the cruise and it did not work on Harvest Caye, just an fyi...

Nice for check on board account.

    Have a great time!

  7. We just got off the Jade (group of 7) and enjoyed dinner at La Cucina. We did not ask for it but we were seated in an alcove that had 3 of us on a shared bench (with a back) 3 across from us in chairs and the last person in a chair at the "head" of the table. It was comfortable and we had a great dinner! They still had the "old" menu with pizza, chicken parm, ossabuco gremolata, etc...

Perhaps you could ask for something similar?

    Have a great time!

  8. Great review! In an early post you mentioned where you book your hotels through but it got deleted. Would it be possible for you to email me the info? I am always looking for ways to make our travels better...

Thanks in advance and no big deal if you don't get time.

    "Our hotel information:

We booked using [deleted]. Those not familiar with them, I learned about them several years ago, from these boards. They are a family that is a third party booking agent that prearranges accommodations geared toward cruisers that combine packages such as hotel, transfer, and parking while on a cruise. They usually have some pretty good deals and their package includes everything they have listed on their site for that hotel. The price you see is the price you pay. No additional charges or taxes.

We ended up booking Doubletree Hotel at 5555 Hazeltine National Drive in Orlando. It was 2 miles from the airport and of course included airport to hotel shuttle. If you were driving in, it included 14 days of free parking, but we were flying. They did offer cruise port shuttle, but at $40 pp, it was not cost effective. The price of this package was $117 for up to 4 people in the room. Since we had a total of 8 people, we booked 2 rooms and it suited our needs well. "

  9. Thanks so much for the pictures... Looks lovely but my interest is waning since I can't seem to get any information or confirmation from them.

I have submitted two forms on their website and received their automated response promising a follow up. None receive. I went on their FB page to request information. I was directed to email galan@littlefrenchkey.com.. I did so last week and still no response.

So while I was looking forward to going and it is very beautiful, I'm guessing they are not interested in my business or money since they can't follow up after me using three different channels to contact them.

    Very disappointing.

I know it's too late for you but someone may appreciate this info from LFK website:

“Please understand that the Internet service and electricity here in Paradise on an Island off an Island in The Caribbean can be sporadic depending on the weather and the service providers. We will respond with a confirmation upon first available opportunity. However, please be advised that our drivers are always at both Ports of Roatan on days when Cruise ships are in Port and you can use their services to arrive at our location even if your reservation confirmation did not reach you on time.

For the convenience of our guests

Reservations are recommended, however, if you do not get a chance to reserve with us and are at any Roatan Port and wish to visit us, regardless you can reach our drivers Dave or Larry who are always present at the port’s gate to make the necessary arrangement to visit us. You can also call us at 504-3304-5776 anytime for pick-up and transportation.

  10. Duncan,

Thanks for working so hard on this - it is fabulous. We learned so much and will now be trying the flow rider because of you! I wouldn't have had the guts to try it without seeing how fun it was for you guys first. We'll be on in December and can't wait.

Congrats on your marriage - hope you have many smooth and happy sailings in the future.

  11. Has anyone used the Fulton Garage for a few days before cruising? We would like to park the Thursday before we sail (we sail on Sunday). I don't want to get in trouble for booking the $8 rooftop rate that states "Cruise ship parking only" for the 3 extra days.

Any advice or experience with this?

    Thanks!
