  1. Going on an Alaska cruise in Sept.

We want to attend a Seahawks game the day we get back.  Issue is our trip returns to Vancouver not Seattle.

Boat arrives at 7am on Sunday in Vancouver.  Can we make a 9:00am flight from VAN - SEA or is that way too tight?

We have global entry and TSA Pre for travelling and of course would request to be one of the first off the boat upon arrival.

    Honest opinions welcomed.

    Thanks

  2. We have booked and actually completely paid off our cruise for next Sept.  Should we get the cruise insurance now?

We paid off the cruise now as we had some Amex RC credits on our cards we had to use before year end and this was an easy way to save $1000.

And what are the current recommendations for insurance companies for this purpose

FYI we have already booked our flights and hotels with Delta miles and Chase points and all are refundable tickets (well the Delta flights aren't refundable perse (i.e. $$) but we won't lose our miles if we cancel they just go back to our account) so I am assuming we don't really need insurance for those parts.

    TIA for the advice

We've done the RCI northbound a few times and also the roundtrip Vancouver. We have a roundtrip on RCI Serenade booked for Sept 18, 2022 that has a great itinerary.

Ovation & Quantum ships have a lot to do onboard but we prefer to spend our time in Alaska not getting there & back from Seattle but many enjoy this itinerary...consider all that's available and enjoy Alaska.

What do you know we are also booked on this cruise.  We liked the itinerary and we needed it to be in Sept as we are hoping to work in a Seahawks game while we are on that side of the US (we are on the east coast).  Very much looking forward to the trip.

To the OP we chose this cruise for the reasons above but our backup (if the NFL schedule doesn't work out for us once announced) will be one of the "one way" cruises.

  4. I am still debating this for our cruise as well.  May drop the key and go stream and surf 2 device only.  Would save us $100.

My only thing is I may need quick/early departure when we hit Vancouver the last day as we are hoping to get back to Seattle in time for a Seahawks game that day which I know would be tight no matter what and I would think that the key might help us out here, maybe.

  5. My cruise price is up like many have mentioned already but my drink and key packages were down.  Saved $100 by cancel and repurchase.  Excursions were the same price I have been seeing but went ahead and booked anyway.  I am hoping that at some point I catch them for less but I doubt it.

Cruise is 7 day Alaska in Sept 2022 if that matters.

Overall fairly pleased with what we have.  We are all in at $3200 for a Jr. Suite with the key package, drinks, dinner package, and excursions at all stops.  This is after using 2 $500 Amex credits and 1 RC Visa credit ($200 + $100 of OBC).  Had we stuck with the balcony room would have been all in for about $2400 but wife wanted a tub for the week.

I will continue to monitor things but I am not expecting any of our excursions or our cruise price to go down at all (I pretty much check daily, lol).

  6. Already booked for a balcony room for this trip but after doing some additional research thinking we want to move to the Jr Suite (grand suite is out of budget).

It would be about 1k more to do this now but basically guarantee us a Jr Suite.

I have read about Royal Up and it sure seems like a good way to get an upgrade at a much better price but of course there is no guarantee of that.

If I go to make an additional booking it seems there about 12 Jr Suites available on Deck 10 according to several sites.  I know things can and will change but that doesn't seem like great odds for "royalling up" in about 9 months.
