  1. My 22 yr old son and I are doing a Graduation cruise in April. We are thinking of seeing a Yankees game the night before. Usually we stay in the Parsipany area and then drive to port in the morning. Looking for other suggestions on where to stay closer to the stadium...or suggestions for getting to the stadium if we stay elswhere. We are driving down so have a car..but I also know parking can be a challenge or expensive.

  2. Does anyone know the status of have an updated photo of where construction stands. It was slated to be ready for June 2018, just wondering if this is still the case? While we were lucky that our one and only trip there we were able to tender, I have read so many people have missed this port due to weather. It's been fantastic for Labadee and I'm sure it will be the same for Coco Cay.

  3. If your son booked with a non-refundable deposit, then it will cost $100 per person to change ship and/or sail date. The OBC from booking on board would not be lost. Any promo OBC being offered now would be added to the OBC from booking on board.

I believe the deposit only cost him $100, so if it's non-refundable, then basically there is no point in changing and he would lose it all. Might as well start with a new booking if that's the case. I will have to check with him.

  4. So, my son booked 2 rooms one his last cruise as he and 3 friends had planned to do a trip after graduation. Now that has fallen through so he would like to use one of these to do a trip himself and I (at a different time than he had originally planned). So a couple questions:

Will he have to pay any extra deposit if he transfers the new booking to a new date?

If the new sailing is offering an OBC (which is more than he got with his onboard booking), would he get that higher OBC?

    Thanks in advance.

  5. Our Anniversary is November 5th. I contemplated doing one then, but I know my husband would like to at least go swimming once (he has an obsession with swimming in places we go to, regardless of temperature). I sounds like any of the months I am looking at should work though, so I guess it will come down to itinerary and price.

  6. I have been to St.Maarten numerous times since 1994 and never feared for my safety.I am sure there are areas that may not be safe but that is everywhere on the planet .

I agree for all previous visits, but this is a whole different situation. It's not the same place it was pre-Irma and will take time for the majority of the island to get back on their feet. We will get off and spend tourist $'s, but not sure we will be venturing as far as we would have had this not happened.

  7. We will be on the 1st RCCL scheduled to be back in St. Maarten and I am having mixed feelings about this. We have been there several times (including a week long stay) and it is one of our favourite islands, and I want more than anything to see them get the tourist $'s and humanitarian help they need to get their livelihood back. With that said, I can't help but admit I am a little nervous about what to expect. While I always considered St. Maarten one of the safer islands to visit, we were warned when we rented a car during our week long stay that there are areas that tourists should be very careful. I know we won't venture very far this time, and hope that all other cruise passengers play it extra safe during the 1st several months of ships returning. While a lot of income comes from tourism, some who are desperate may be looking at tourists for other reasons and this does scare me a little. Not thrilled to be on the "guinea pig" ship.

  8. We missed the recent weekend sale where all (?) RCL excursions were on sale.

Does anyone have a sense for whether or not RCL is likely to have another sale anytime soon, i.e. Black Friday?

Hoping for the same. Didn't notice it until there were only a few hours left and it wasn't enough time to decide. I have figured out what I want to do now, but am hoping there will be another sale so I can get a slightly better price.

  9. The main reason we went with Spencer instead of Cosol was that to get to the Pitons, Cosol takes you by bus, van up and down the mountains and it takes a long time to get there. it wastes a lot of you day. The Pitons are on the other side of the island from the cruise port.

Spencer's trip was great by speed boat. It was a fun ride along with being able to see some of the towns along the water. Very nice views especially of the Pitons from out on the water.

Is there much to see by taking it land based? or just a lot of the same green space?

  10. We will be arriving on in St. Lucia via cruise ship in December, and our only real request is to see the Pitons. Where it is land based, sea based, snorkeling included, doesn't really matter, just looking for the best option. Any ideas?

  11. From the Royal Caribbean website....according to this statement they are "planning a visit to St. Maarten Monday)

October 12, 2017 at 2 PM EDT (next update tomorrow at 2 PM EDT)

Royal Caribbean leadership just returned from visits to San Juan and St. Thomas, and are planning a visit to St. Maarten on Monday. We were very impressed with the progress the islands are making to rebuild, and all three destinations are looking forward to welcoming back Royal Caribbean guests before the end of the year. In the next two weeks, working in conjunction with the local governments, we will announce the specific dates of our return to each of the islands.

  12. 2019 we celebrate our 25th Anniversary and we have already decided we want to do a Mediterranean cruise, focusing on Greece (Santorini and Corfu are our preferred ports) and would love a cruise that also goes to Kotor and Dubrovnik. My question is, since we prefer not to go in the summer to avoid too hot temperatures and huge crowds, what months would be best for this cruise. Our Anniversary is in November, and we can do that, but will do any month outside of summer

  13. We have booked two outside cabins on Grandeur -- 2024 and 2026. On the deck plan 2024 looks to be slightly larger than 2026. Could that be true? I assume the deck plans are not always accurate? Thanks for any response.

Did you end up staying in 2024? Any photos? Noisy? any info would be great.

  14. Is Skagway the port that you can take excursions to the Yukon from? What types of excursions are available to get you there?

We are hoping to "kill 2 birds with 1 stone". We are on a quest to visit every province and Territory in Canada. After July 10th will will have seen all the provinces, so we are hoping to do an Alaska cruise next summer and include the Yukon as well.

    Thanks in advance

  15. Here are some sailings this coming Nov

HAL have Princendam 16 nights from 2nd Nov from Civitavecchia

Celebrity have Silhouette 15 nights from 4th Nov leaving from Civitavecchia

RCL have Vision OTS for 10 nights from Venice leaving 7th of Nov

Princess have Pacific Princess sailing from Venice for 12 nights leaving 11 Nov

There were also cruises on Viking and Azamara ships .

All this from a google search of

    Mediterranean cruise november 2017

So there are cruises other than MSC and NCL

Hope you find a suitable cruise for your anniversary

    Pete

Yes, I have been searching too, but not all those cruises actually exist. For example, RCL Vision OTS isn't even in Europe then. The Celebrity Silhouette is a transatlantic. We are actually looking for one that begins and ends in Europe as we plan to visit family in Switzerland after as well.

  16. We are planning a Mediterranean for our Anniversary in 2019. While we are willing to go at any time during the year we are hoping to actually be there for our anniversary which is in November and so MSC and NCL seem to be the only ones that do it at that time. My question for those that have sailed MSC in Europe. Are shows etc. in English? Not that it really matters, but just curious. Thanks.
