  1. Thanks SCX22…you’ve been a great help. Right now, our ship is showing as the only ship at the cruise center that day. Going in/out of B92.  We have sailed out of there numerous times and sometimes it’s a breeze and sometimes not. Once the ship had to undergo a complete and thorough cleaning (completely unexpected until you got there) and everyone had to wait outside the terminal for hours. The longest line was for the food wagon, lol, who was really happy. Ours is a 7 day Mexico and return date also shows just our ship for turnaround.

  2. I do see the page where you enter your flight info now. Princess, on the phone, said they were not sure how to fill it out if you are arriving a day early and hotel shuttle back to the airport. She did say to just put the last leg of the flight as it will only take one flight and that of course is the one landing at LAX. Princess referred me back to the T/A, which I will still do — the hold was super long this morning so I’ll try later. I’ll also ask the T/A where the detailed info on the cruise personalizer is — as I do not see it on mine?  The Summary page gives you option to upgrade to Princess Plus and to check in with the app (which I’ve done and in green lane) and advises dinning options moved to the app. That’s all I see on the Summary tab page.

  3. Thank you. Not sure which hotels Princess uses. We’re staying at the Hyatt Regency. I’ll try and find out if that is one Princess uses. I just asked Princess and they advised to check with T/A which I will do. I mainly want to know what time we should hotel shuttle back to the airport for Princess shuttle — as when do they start and do we just go to any Arrivals area to look for the agent or back to the airline we came in on the day before.

  4. I’m not seeing any detailed info on my cruise personalized nor on the app. They say it is different now since most everything is on the app. I don’t see anywhere to enter my flight times like in the old days — plus I’m not flying in the day of embarkation. Are you on an upcoming cruise and can you direct me on Cruise Personalizer as to where it might be? Appreciate it.

You will find detailed transfer info in your Cruise Personalizer /Travel Summary.

This was the transfer info for a January 2020 Panama Canal Cruise, departing at 4:00 PM.

Meeting time was from 9:00 AM, the 1st bus departed around 10:00 AM:

  6. We are booked on Princess shuttle from LAX to San Pedro for March. We are flying in the day before and staying at an LAX hotel which will shuttle us back to the airport. What time do the Princess shuttles start running  from the airport to the port and do we just go to the Arrivals of any airline and look for the Princess Rep near the luggage carousels?

Couple of things to keep in mind:

Even if there’s a travel warning for a specific state in Mexico, it may only apply to certain parts and not the entire state. Puerto Vallarta is in Jalisco, and while there’s a level 3 warning for the state, the city of Puerto Vallarta is considered safe for tourist travel.

Baja California Sur, where Cabo San Lucas is located, is under a level 2 warning (very common for international travel). Cabo San Lucas is considered safe for travel as well.

To put things into perspective, there are other countries that frequently appear on Caribbean cruise itineraries (like Jamaica, Honduras and Trinidad and Tobago) that are currently under a level 3 travel warning, yet the cruise lines continue sailing there because the specific locations visited are considered safe.

When we did this itinerary 4 months ago on Celebrity, Mazatlán was replaced with Ensenada. The state of Sinaloa (where Mazatlán is located), was under a level 4 (do not travel) warning at the time (probably still is).

    Good points. Thanks.

Do you have trip ins, that has cancel for any reason?  You also can enroll in this

    https://step.state.gov/step/

    Benefits of Enrolling in STEP
The Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) is a free service to allow U.S. citizens and nationals traveling and living abroad to enroll their trip with the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate.
Receive important information from the Embassy about safety conditions in your destination country, helping you make informed decisions about your travel plans.
Help the U.S. Embassy contact you in an emergency, whether natural disaster, civil unrest, or family emergency.
Help family and friends get in touch with you in an emergency.

If you feel unsafe, then don't get off the ship.

I had not heard of STEP before. I’ll take a look, thanks. Interestingly enough, this was also in the article “In the advisory, would-be travelers are warned they may not be able to seek help from the U.S. if something goes wrong.”.  And, “The U.S. government has limited ability to provide emergency services to U.S. citizens in many areas of Mexico, as travel by U.S. government employees to certain areas is prohibited or restricted.”
That said, we’re not in fear — just wondered if Princess was responding to the State Department’s recent warnings. That’s all. And, I think most everyone would know if you don’t feel safe in some port, you wouldn’t get off, lol. Common sense. Cruising is a great way to travel.

  9. We see the State Dept has issued warnings (strongly suggest to reconsider travel) on travel to Mexico, including Cabo, Puerto Vallarta and Sinaloa where Mazatlan is located. These are the 3 stops for our upcoming cruise. Has anyone heard if Princess is offering an opportunity to cancel and rebook another cruise/another time at no fee/loss of monies? We are fully paid.

  10. Cruzin Noony, I meant just the April cruises to Mexico,  7-day — not April 7 — I was trying to include both April 1st and April 15th Mexico “7 day”. Thinking it might be because troubles in Mexico — not the coastal cruise in between.  We’re on the 15th and our travel agent said the same thing today.  Both April cruises to Mexico are sold out. April 1st and April 15th. Have a good cruise. It’s all fun.

  11. Tracking is showing the Discovery Princess is scheduled into Los Angeles cruise port Mar 11 in the afternoon rather than early morning and April 7-day Mexico is showing ‘Currently not available’ on Princess site. Does anyone know what might be going on with the Discovery?

  12. Totally follow what you are saying and I actually do have the app and use the app boarding pass — but was once behind some who didn’t know how to open their app and the check in person had to take their device and handle it taking extra time getting onboard. Agent asked first asked if they had a printed boarding pass (they didn’t) and she also told them that should they run out of battery power, they wouldn’t be able to open the app anyway. She said, to them, if you can print out one it will save time should the app not work for whatever reason. Seemed like good advice to me. Like you say, you haven’t needed/wanted to use a paper one but there could come a time for you or, worse, the person in front of you lol. Printing at the airport would take extra time which you may not have and printing onboard seems quick, easy and gives comfort. Princess GS will assist, I’m told.

I'm not sure why folks print out boarding passes at home anymore.  If you are checking luggage when you get to the airport you can get paper boarding passes from the kiosk.  And if not checking luggage, you can still get the boarding pass from the kiosk.  I use the airline app (Alaska, Delta) to hold my boarding passes, and put them in the wallet on my phone for quick reference.  I can't remember the last time I used a paper boarding pass when flying.

  14. As Elite, we use to use the free minutes on board only to print out our boarding pass prior to disembarking. Since it is no longer a perk for us, can we ask at the Purser’s desk to print it out for us without purchasing an internet package and/or if we are on the ship shuttle to the airport might that be a part of that package/service?

It should just disappear but maybe not until the date actually passes.  Just ignore it or you could remove the app and add it back or update it if there's an update available.

Thanks. It completely disappeared on the app on the tablet. That’s what I found odd. I didn’t have to do anything on the tablet. Just wondering.

  16. We cancelled  cruise and it was successfully cancelled on the RCCL website and the travel agent site and confirmed all around in writing. It was deleted on the app on my tablet however still appears on the app on my cell. I don’t see a way to remove it myself — does anyone know how to do this? Again, I’m not trying to cancel an existing cruise just want to remove a cancelled trip off my cell app.

    a) Excursion OBC. The OBC is posted on your account(s) and can be used for anything on board. Not restricted to excursions. Your TA is not correct. If you do not have pre-paid gratuities the OBC will be used up very quickly.

    b) Ship to airport transfer. You can book once on board at the excursion desk. It will be charged to your on board account and net against any credit(OBC) or debit balance. Princess may offer for pre-booking a disembarkation tour which drops you off at the airport. But, a plain transfer is just easier to book once on board. There are plenty of spaces on the busses.

Which port? For many ports and most U.S. ports it is just easier, private, quicker, and usually less expensive, to just take a taxi or Uber to the airport.

It wasn’t the travel agent’s take on the matter, she called Princess and Princess said in the case of this particular promotion, the credit can only be used for excursions not like usual OBC which can be used for onboard purchases, excursions, gratuities, etc. I also called Princess myself, separately, to see if another agent had a different take and was told this particular promotion isn’t just OBC, it is earmarked strictly for excursions. I don’t know from personal usage (yet) but reporting what I’ve heard thus far. Port is San Pedro, CA. If I have Excursions Credit and I don’t plan to purchase any excursions, seems like it would be a good idea to use for airport transportation 🙂. Rather than pay a taxi or Uber. Perhaps Princess is using a different approach re OBC Promotions than in the past?

  18. Princess has a current promotion of $100pp Excursion Credit and I had my TA ask Princess directly if this credit can ONLY be used for excursions and the Princess answer was yes, only for excursions. So my question now is, if you book an airport transfer is that done at/through the Excursion Desk? And would the ship/airport transfer have to be done onboard or could it be in advance and shown as an ‘Excursion’ and thus be used through the Excursion Credit in your account?
