They are offering to move you to a different date for this year, no additional money from you PLUS give you the same dolar amount you paid for a Future Cruise Credit. So by moving you get two cruises for what you have paid. If you plans are open this summer and you want to cruise some more it sounds like a great deal. If you plans for this date are pretty much set in stone and hard to change then choose to pass. You should at least call them to see what date they can move you to.

Okay I read it as they would give me a fcc for the amount I paid for this cruise..  I don’t see where it says an fcc and a refund for this trip.  But you’re right I should call them.

     Sorry for the confusion

  2. It was an email from HAL with an attachment regarding “important information about your trip”.  Seemed legit , as every other correspondence came thru the same way.  This is the txt copy and pasted …

Ships' Registry: The Netherlands Booking: (removed for privacy) Statement Date: May 27, 2022

it sounds like they would refund me what I paid for it but also that I’d probably have to fight them for the hotels/flights I didn’t book thru them.  Just doesn’t seem like much of an offer for me to do them a favour  🤷🏻‍♀️

anyway maybe I’m reading it wrong and someone could point that out to me.  I appreciate all the responses and I haven’t called HAL yet because I’ve been working all weekend and also have no intention of “volunteering “ to give up this bucket list trip I’ve booked for my husband and I.

There is an upgrade scheduled for tomorrow so you’ll want to wait until that’s completed to update your information.

Does this app not update automatically?  Or do we have to uninstall/reinstall and re put in all our info ?
I’ve read a few posts about new versions of it and was curious

  4. Ooo I hope we get to stay at the Captain Cook, it looks so cool from the google pics.  Thanks for the replies.  Turns out I can still only pick up a rental from the airport 🤷🏻‍♀️

cars are a hot commodity out there. Never thought I’d pay $500 CAD for a Nissan Rogue for 10 hrs 🤣

my husband asked if we got a super car for that price.  Boy will he be delighted hahah

  5. Taking the Y1 triple Denali + Yukon departing Vancouver on June 5th.
we will be in anchorage on June 13th and I’m trying to book a rental vehicle for that day.  Does anyone know what hotel we are likely to be staying in?  I’d like to be able to pick up and drop off the rental as close as reasonably possible to where we are staying.  TIA 🙂

  6. Was considering trying to rent a vehicle to take the drive from Anchorage up to Matanuska lake while we are there in June.  Is this a reasonable day trip to take or will it take too long to get there and back with traffic etc ?

also when I looked into rentals before I recall reading something about cars not doing well on unpaved roads and that you should splurge on a jeep / truck / other 4x4 if you’re going to be going anywhere off the main routes.  Would a trip up there take us off main roads?

tia for any helpful information or warnings

Thanks for the link, you would think HAL would send something like this to you when you book!

I actually do have a copy of this pdf but other than when meals and snacks were included I didn’t see any pricing or information about the meal plans.  I’m gonna give it a better read tomorrow but thank you dfilpus for posting that link 🙂

    Thanks for all the information!

Thank you for posting this question.  I was wondering the same thing.  Esp in regards to the meal plan.  I haven’t been able to find any information on the meal plans.  If anyone has any links to those that would be great 😊

  9. My husband and I are booked on an 18 day alaska / Yukon / triple Denali cruise on the nieuw amsterdam departing Vancouver on June 5 2022.

for anyone who has done this itinerary or something similar how did you pack?  I’m not so concerned about what to pack but just how was it dispersed into the different bags you’re supposed to bring?  I’m kind of confused about how many bags we should be bringing and what to pack in each bag for the land portion vs the sea portion.  Any advice would be gladly accepted ❤️

I have read the holland America pdf on alaska travel tips but I didn’t find it that helpful in breaking things down. Thanks for any suggestions!

  11. Thank you so much for the kind response 🙂

from what I’ve been able to find I don’t think visas are required but it helps set my mind at ease hearing from someone else who has done this trip.  It’s a huge splurge and total bucket list trip for my husband and I.  I’d be devastated if we were turned away because I was missing any documentation.

    I appreciate your response oaktreerb

    have a great day!

  12. My husband and I are booked on this cruise leaving June 5 2022 with holland America on the Nieuw Amsterdam .  We are both Canadian citizens and were wondering if anyone knows if we need any visas for travel on this trip.  Are there any other Canadian citizens that can confirm this?  I’ve called holland and have done a bit of research on my own but would like to hear from anyone else to alleviate my concerns.  Thanks for your time and responses.
